Never saw this before. That was absolutely genius how Michael handled that, and sweet. I'm just thinking of what an "artist" like Akon would have done, lol.

I've watched this video so many times.

I think that was the perfect song for that to happen on.

I can't see him up there singing Billie Jean. smile

But one thing I noticed that he was also trying to put

his right leg around that kid's leg and also

trying to put his foot in front of his for support.

He was really trying hard to keep him safe .

Wow, all that and still trying to perform. cool confused sad

As for Akon ... he's a joke..

Akon would have tossed that kid back down into the audience "Chin" first! (...sorry... boxed )

I know Michael made that boys LIFE! I bet he's still talking about it today. And to his credit, he almost looked like part of the show at one point, pointing to the crowd and giving the Victory sign. Nevertheless, I'm sure the show was OVER for him the minute they touched back down on stage, lol. Still, Michael provided him with the memory of a lifetime. I know Michael's fanbase grew exponentially that night!

^^ In my opinion Carousel is a weak song to start with.

I'm glad it was scuttled from the Thriller line up, and MJ was smart not to revisit it.

I definitely don't think it's a weak song, just wasn't fit for Thriller. Would've made a nice addition to an 80's teeny bopper film

To me - it just felt like someone writing a song for an OFF THE WALL MJ, and didn't do him any service in terms of braodening his musical landscape or moving him on as an artist.

But what I do love is that people who do like it can see where it could fit. I'm not a fan, but I'll never tell you you're wrong for liking it. Even if it is weak razz

When you think about it, it does sound a little OTW'ish. Yeah the record could've fit a lot of these, but Thriller just wasn't one of them. Hell, even MJ thought the songs on Thriller failed in comparison to a lot of his unreleased songs...

I knew an Akon joke was coming lol

And MJ songs in John Hughes movies? Please, they are two seperate entities. I love his movies, but to me they are exclusive to the 80's, and contrary to "popular belief" I don't view MJ or his music like that to fit the two together.

As we close out 2011 some things are becoming apparent:

1. Michael Jackson is not coming back - despite what the believer theory people say.

He didn't come back in July 2011 as often stated by believers.

He didn't come back at the Tribute concert, as some speculated.

He didn't come back at Conrad Murray's trial, or conviction for that matter (guess their MJ is happy to let an innocent man go to jail).

He didn't come back at FanFest.

2. The Estate are slowing getting their stuff together.

The deal with Cirque and the show is MJ worthy.

The Immortal CD is quality.

The FanFest had the right mix of respect and legacy building.

3. The focus remains on Michael's music*.

Much thanks to Joe Vogel and his book for this, but also for the estate for being restrained in their merchandising and release schedule.

*Despite the media thirst for shock during the trial.

4. The general public rever Michael as a gifted, but troubled, artist.

Whilst they are still buying his greatest hits packages, and attending the Cirque show, most will not want to purchase another repackaging of albums or have much interest in new tracks.

5. Sony needs to shift it's focuss from mass public and cater to fans for future sales.

Gone are the days when a new MJ product shifts multimillion units and debut (or reach) number 1. Instead thier return will come from being respectful of Michael's loyal fan base and putting in the proper work to produce some great deluxe editions (see U2's Achtung Baby and Pink Floyds recent rereleases).

6. Sometimes justice is served.

7. The org is still the sanest place on the planet to have respectful discussions about MJ's life and music.

And for that I say thank you.

The new Michael Jackson residency show is set to open at Mandala...n May 2013. Demolition work on “The Lion King” theater at Mandalay Bay begins after its final performance Dec. 30.

Sony has 5 more years to put their hands inside the vault of Michael's musical collection. How often do you all think we should get new projects? I'm really looking forward to more unreleased music and not rehashed records that we've had since the beginning of time...

I outlined how I would release things a few threads back. I think every year to 18 months is a respectable way. Of course if Sony think interest is waning they most likely will do a rush release of deluxe-remastered-remixed-rehased back catalogue albums one every month, lol.

I am hoping that they take their time - consider the releases and give them the proper finish and presentation they deserve.

Some fan went to a Sony meeting recently and heard some things:

Bad 25th Anniversary Edition is planned for August 2012

Remixes of unreleased songs are considered for the release

Blu Ray releases are in the works with coming by Christmas 2013 along with a new album

duet album is not coming

Moonwalker HD (the game apparently) will be at E3 2012

Honestly, I don't think they TRULY know what to do neutral

I hate to be under opposition about this reissue talk and such, but I'm just looking forward to a career-spanning rarities box set. I'm sick of these messy and cutesy packages that Sony keeps recycling and releasing. I just have less hopes for the upcoming Off The Wall and Bad anniversary packages (if they're ever released). Look at what they did with Thriller 25. Do you all think that Sony is gonna go all out on MJ? I can't keep buying this same stuff over and over just for a couple of songs. I need a box set full of quality rarities and demos (i.e. Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, etc.) I have original pre-2001 issues of Bad and Off The Wall that satisfy me anyway.

Ugh, how about just unreleased songs? I don't want a remix of something for which I don't even know the original.

I really wish Sony would establish something like a fan council to help them navigate new editions and what we really want.

I don't mind remixing unreleased stuff, but please give us the originals as well. I want to hear what Michael was working on not what someone thinks will be hip now.

Glad to hear the duet album has been put on ice though.

This was my original post from 11/17/10 on what releases I would do as the estate.

Swa said:

So I was thinking we all probably have a point of view on how the Estate should run things. So why not give it ago.

how would you do it? Keep in mind you want to protect the legacy, not be seen to be profiting too much, or flooding the market. How would you balance appetite and satisfaction.

Here's how I would.

2010 ‘Michael’ CD

Pull the current ‘Michael’ album as is – and release a cut down mix of 7 songs with 2 remixes.

Bonus tracks of the Cascio songs on iTunes only – let the fans decide if they want them or not.

Release a deluxe version with the finished tracks and the source material as a bonus disc.

2011 – June - OFF THE WALL – Deluxe Box

Fully remastered Off The Wall in both Stereo and 5.1 mix.

Album to contain bonus disc of outtakes and alternate versions.

2011 – August - BAD – Deluxe Box (25th Anniversary)

Fully remastered in Stereo and 5.1

Album to contain bonus tracks and alternate recordings

2011 October – THE MASTER - Tour DVD Box Set

Release a MJ LIVE tour box set featuring Bad Tour (Los Angeles), Dangerous Tour (London) HiStory Tour (Sydney – including DS & Come Together)

2011 – November - Jacksons Live DVD set

A triple DVD set of Destiny / Triumph and Victory tours fully restored and remastered featuring behind the scenes featurettes

2011 December ‘Jackson’ (blue eye cover)

12 tracks of unreleased material from 1989 -2009

2012 - January - The Immortal CD & DVD

Release a CD for the Cirque du Solei show as long as it is given the same musical reinvention as The Beatles “Love” album.

2012 – August – Dangerous (21st Anniversary)

Fully remastered in Stereo and 5.1

Album to contain bonus tracks and alternate recordings.

2012 – December - Singles Box Set

Release a CD-Single box set of all of Michael’s solo releases for Epic.

Each single will contain the original track listing as the 12” records, and feature original artwork.

2013 – August - HiStory Book II

Fully remastered HiStory album in Stereo and 5.1

Bonus disc to contain extra tracks taken from the History recording sessions.

2013 – December - The Journey – CD Box set

A collection of unreleased demos and recordings from 1979-2001

2014 – February – ‘MJ’ – BioPic worldwide release

2014 - June – 5th Anniversary Tribute

Collection of 25 covers from artists influenced by Michael and his music.

2014 – August - Tribute Concert Pay per View

(Not organised by any Jackson)

DVD released November of that year.

2015 - January - 7 CD

A remix project of 20 classic MJ tracks.

2015 – August – Invincible Deluxe

Fully remastered in stereo and 5.1

Album to contain extra tracks taken from the Invincible sessions.

2015 – December – Thriller – The Complete Sessions

The original mix of Thriller with complete versions of Billie Jean, Lady In My Life.

I sure can tell, considering they haven't put out a quality release since Mike's death. But Sony are losers anyway. What about all these rarities they put out for folks like Dylan and Springsteen? If they were gone today, they would be putting out damn near their entire vault material. It perplexes me what is going on with Michael's estate because like someone said in an earlier thread, it seems as if Michael's legacy is just becoming watered down by video games, videos, books and other memorabilia. What about the vaults?

From what I've been told, they're still doing inventory lol They don't know everything that's in the archives, although Michael had everything listed and cataloged until 2006
