Just agree to disagree. If some think Gaga's early material is better than Madonna's, cool. If some think Madonna's is better, cool. Same with Britney's material. Same with whoever. Just shut it lmao

I know, there was actually an interesting post on Gagadailyboards about is Gaga reaching her full potential. Apparently a couple of the fans want her to outdo Madonna in general. And there were others that want her to continue with the piano route.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Interesting indeed...
I hope she doesn't abandon the piano. Something comes alive in her when she's playing that thing.

It’s very true I learn to appreciate the piano part of her more now these days lol. I think it was that the songs she perform on the piano didn’t do much for me compared to her dance records but yes she should continue that route.

Yes people, the Madonna thing is old! how many times has the next big pop star been compared or been called a rip off of Madonna? and that artist eventually dies off or changes or goes nowhere?
Madonna is riding horses naked in her mansion not giving a damn about what GaGa is doing Madonna only has like u know over 30 top 10 hits, so if GaGa is getting tons of hits i am sure she does not care. She is wiping her ass with her hundred dollar bills and praying to her Kabbalah lover
Let GaGa be... GaGa & Madonna be Madonna. If you don't like GaGa listen to Madonna records and don't listen to born this way
Now that we are all on the same page let's be sexy friend's Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

How Many Millions Did Amazon Lose on Two Days of 99-Cent Lady Gaga Sales? May 2011
Christmas came early for Lady Gaga fans this week, as Amazon sold downloads of the singer's brand-new album , Born This Way, for just 99 cents on Monday and Thursday of this week. Industry sources told Billboard.biz on Friday that Amazon sold some 440,000 downloads of the album -- nearly all of which were the 99-cent version (a more expensive deluxe version is also available).
So how much is Amazon losing? About $3.2 million over the two days the promotion ran, according to Billboard's estimate.
Here's the math: For every unit it sells at 99 cents, Amazon will lose about $7.40, according to Billboard's calculation. At $7.40 per unit and 430,000 units (10,000 shaved off total digital sales to account for some sales of the deluxe edition), the Gaga-related loss comes to $3.18 million.
The promotion was a boon for Gaga's first-week numbers, which are now projected to be approximately 1.15 million units, Billboard projects.
Amazon will lose money on each 99-cent sale because it is paying Interscope/Universal Music Group the standard rate for each unit sold. The similar title is selling for $11.99 at iTunes. The retailer typically keeps 30% of the sale price, meaning it owes the label and distributor the remaining 70% -- or $8.39.
But is a loss really a loss? The important aspect of this 99-cent promotion is the value of the increased traffic and awareness. It has new products to promote, Cloud Drive and Cloud Player. Google has soft-launched a competing cloud music storage service called Music Beta and Apple appears to be nearing a launch of its cloud music service. Considering all the media attention the promotion has received, it's not difficult to imagine Amazon getting back an equal value of consumer awareness of those new products.
There's other value in 99-cent MP3 albums. Amazon is an e-commerce giant with highly diversified products and a high average revenue per customer.
Amazon also needs to increase its MP3 market share and price is one tool in its toolkit. Even if incremental MP3 sales don't provide a financial windfall, the company has plenty of other products to sell customers who stop by for a cheap album.
The loss-leading promotion posed some questions in terms of how Billboard tabulates its weekly album-sales chart, but Billboard has decided not to revise its policies.

Seven days later:
CLASSIC: Marry the Night, Heavy Metal Lover (fuckin' masterpiece, hot, hot hot material, so good it makes me go ) VERY GOOD : Judas (sick jam, part rave, part metal, part techno hymn; the Judas-ahahahowa part still annoys me, tough, slighty...), Hair, Highway Unicorn GOOD: Born this Way, Gov Hooker (has grown on me), Edge of Glory , Black Jesus (9), Bloody Mary (insufferable lyrics, big ego, but the melody is soooooo nice, dark, weird, and sensual...)
DON'T LIKE IT (but listenable and perfectly competent): Scheibe, Bad Kids and Fashion of His Love (too poppy, they sound like Britney singles I'm too old/badass/cynical for this stuff...I hope GaGa never produces sticky pop numbers like these again, really, are they marketed for her 16 years old female fans or something??? I guess that, back in 1986, people also complained for pop numbers like Jimmy Jimmy, lol, Scheibe is the best of the bunch but it's too retro, to early-90's, we want something new and different GaGa...and the oh-oh-oh-oh-oooohhh chorus is pure Britney...), Electric Chapel (starts promising, but it's one of the most boring tracks, and is it just me, or is this a near ripoff of The Cardigan's My Favourite Game???)
BAD: The Queen (Hair or Unicorn part 2 and that ending... ) PATHETIC, ANNOYING CRAP: Americano, You and I (fuck's sake ) It's so sad I always have to skip these, they destroy the flow of the album completely...
Final conclusion: superbly produced mainstream/electro pop album. Both commercial and weird/impenetrable (lol), but that's the key of GaGa's sound: it's cheap, it's disposable pop music, but with that "arty", weird, different touch that makes it relevant/worthy. Even the blah or BAD songs are (for the wrong reasons, lol) Dull sometimes, but NEVER The songcraft is also remarkable. Hell, she can write songs. The Lady is growing up...The haters can blow my gun...
PERSONAL TRACK-LIST (mp3 player):

Yeah Judas has a good beat, it's still disjointed as hell though. I would think the next single would be Bloody Mary.
