Motown is still finishing up big compilations/deluxe edition sets for the Supremes (final lineup), the Contours and Marvin. lol

Yep, we could be getting a deluxe reissue of Marv's Trouble Man this year! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Harry Weigner also stated that they are working on a new J-5 release also, but there's no clue when it will be released.

Yeah I heard that bit. Motown is working on a lot of stuff actually. Unfortunately most never get released on time due to whatever holds them back but they eventually DO put them out. No telling what's going on with the Jackson 5 but they do have a LOT of work to do, there's still like 400 songs yet to be put on albums yet. lol I believe about sixty of them have been released so far.

I haven't really checked any of those out. (I have mp3s of the deluxe edition of In Our Lifetime) How would you rate the deluxe editions of the Supremes and Marvin albums?

From the beginning it was always a quandary for me, Michael’s birthday. From the first day we met, unfamiliar to me, I was faced with his chosen religion, Jehovah’s Witness.

When Michael arrived for his photo shoot for THRILLER, two men accompanied him impeccably dressed in suits, who sat over to the side on some cushy couches and watched his every move.

Since this was the first time I worked with him, it didn’t feel appropriate for me to ask who they could possibly be. I thought if he wanted us to know, he would have told us. I just felt their presence throughout the entire day. They left with him as mysteriously as they had entered with him. At the time I really did not give it another thought, because I had no idea of the adventure that was ahead of me.

The next shoot, there again…a mysterious gentleman, sitting in the background.

As our working relationship and friendship began to grow, I asked. He explained to me he was a Jehovah’s Witness. He was very active with the church, and these gentlemen were monitors. They watched over him. He also explained he went to bible study, and spent time going door-to-door teaching the word each week. I had to take pause for a minute and think about that one….

THRILLER had been released by the time he was explaining this to me. “You mean to tell me, that you ring someone’s doorbell, they come to answer it, and there stands Michael Jackson??????”

He gave me one of his hi pitched belly laughs…and said, “yeah”. He further explained that he does it in disguise.

“Oh no you don’t.”

Still giggling, he paused and got amusingly serious. “Yeah, sure. After they let me in, they usually begin to look at me funny, so I end up admitting who I am.”

“Wow, I wish I could be a fly on the wall and watch that. I still can’t believe you do that.” I said.

“It is a big part of being a Jehovah’s Witness. We also do not celebrate holidays or birthdays. We believe that we should honor and celebrate these things daily, and not have just one day.”

So I asked “No birthdays. No Christmas?”

“No” he replied.

“Isn’t that difficult, when the world around you is decorating and singing carols?”.

“Yes, Turkle…it is always kind of sad, especially when I was a child, because it looked like so much fun. But it is okay; we have things like FAMILY DAY, where we all get together. There are hundreds of Jackson’s and we all try and be there.”

I could genuinely see the sadness in his eyes and the sense his feeling of loss, not celebrating Christmas with the other kids…so I changed the subject.

One August 29th, we ended up working. Everyone was wishing him Happy Birthday and giving him little presents. He smiled and graciously accepted them. Once we were in the privacy of the trailer, he put the gifts down on the seat, and looked down at them.

“I wish people wouldn’t do that. Please promise me, Turkle, don’t EVER say Happy Birthday to me.”

I was torn. I once again saw how sad and conflicted he was on the inside about this, but he remained loyal to his beliefs. It was so difficult for me too. I wanted to give him a present and a big birthday hug every time August 29th rolled around, and join in with the others who were celebrating his birthday around him. I also wanted to comply with his request not to even SAY happy birthday.

We were shooting SMOOTH CRIMINAL. I was accustomed to the monitors by now. The filming was going on longer than planned, as usual. We were preparing for a very big scene. Michael was surrounded by the alien battalion in a gully, built on stage 14.

The special weapons and ammunition team had briefed Michael on how to hold the machine gun and fire it. It was the last scene of the evening. Michael was having fun with it, like a little boy playing army. He took a strong stance, and fired as the cameras rolled.

That was a wrap for that evening, and we were given our call time for the next morning.

Michael was a little late arriving the next day. I was waiting in his trailer. He walked in so distraught. I didn’t understand, we were having so much fun the night before. He was silent as he sat in the makeup chair. I had to ask him please tell me. Please tell me what is wrong.

His eyes welled up with tears. “Mother called last night. The church called her, and told her that I held and fired a gun yesterday. They ordered that I have to make decision. I must leave the church, or leave the entertainment industry.” He was weeping as he uttered those words.

I was quite mortified. “What did your mother advise you to do?”

“She felt horrible. She told me it was up to me. She said she would stand by me with whatever I decided.”

“I see, you are here today”.

“Yes”

“Mother is supporting my choice”.

It took a while for Michael to adjust to his choice. He continued to feel uncomfortable with his birthday, but attended fan events in his honor, and truly enjoyed them.

When I was around him during Christmas, he would hide in his own closet to secretly wrap presents. He still held a tinge of guilt. I knew it was difficult for him, but I know he loved all the decorations that NEVER came down. He could freely give his children the birthdays that he never had. I knew deep down inside the Jehovah Witness teachings continued to hold a sacred place inside of him. That is why I was forever torn by not saying “Happy Birthday”. He never released me from my promise to not say it to him.

Defense theory suggests pop star was suffering from withdrawal from Demerol at time of death

LOS ANGELES — A judge decided Tuesday to review medical records from Michael Jackson's longtime dermatologist before deciding whether the documents should be turned over to defense attorneys seeking to show the singer was addicted to a powerful painkiller at the time of his death.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor will review files from Dr. Arnold Klein that cover the final nine months of Jackson's life.

Klein is fighting the release of the files to attorneys for Dr. Conrad Murray, citing patient confidentiality rules. Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of the pop star.

Attorneys for Murray say they need to review the files to see if the records support a defense theory that Jackson was suffering from withdrawal from the painkiller Demerol when he died unexpectedly on June 25, 2009.

The lawyers contend Klein frequently injected Jackson with Demerol and the singer became addicted to the treatments.

"Due to Dr. Klein's actions, Mr. Jackson became physiologically and psychologically dependent on Demerol," Murray's attorneys wrote in a motion filed Monday. "Dr. Murray's right to this information in the criminal case greatly outweighs any privilege or privacy rights asserted by Dr. Klein pertaining to the records of Mr. Jackson who is now deceased."

Defense attorney J. Michael Flanagan has said a potential defense expert witness contends Jackson was showing signs of Demerol withdrawal before his death, and that may have complicated his reactions to other medications.

Authorities have accused Murray of giving the singer a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol, which is normally administered in hospital settings. His attorneys have said he did not give the singer anything that should have killed him.

Klein's attorney Garo Ghazarian said during the hearing Tuesday that the defense hadn't shown any evidence that Jackson was addicted to Demerol or that any of Klein's treatments were improper.

Pastor said he will review the files on April 6 and also hear from an attorney for Jackson's estate, who have not waived any of the singer's privileges.

Some of Klein's medical records have already been turned over to coroner's officials who investigated Jackson's death.

Murray's attorneys Ed Chernoff and Nareg Gourjian said they have reviewed those files. They agreed to limit any records requests to the last nine months of Jackson's life, when the singer returned to Los Angeles and began preparing for a series of comeback concerts titled "This Is It."

Jury selection in Murray's case begins Thursday. Hundreds of potential jurors are being summoned to a downtown Los Angeles courthouse where they will begin filling out questionnaires that Pastor said currently spans 29 pages and contains 125 questions.

The judge met in closed session with attorneys to finalize the questionnaire. Opening statements are expected to begin on May 9.

um... that was so bad it's not even worth protesting. i mean, who is actually gonna see this? more specifically, who is going to see this, that acknowleges being a fan or advocate? it's got that devil worship/'illuminati' symbolism all over it. too much dark energy there for me to even give energy to it, in any way (that includes protesting it). tony van dam would have a FIELD DAY with this one!

if you really feel the need to protest anyone, it should be that impersonator. it looks like that could be either kenny wizz or someone like that. DEFINITELY not navi, since dude had an american accent. the film was just silly. the impersonator- now THAT was a major disrespect to michael.

one thing is, this could be a hoax film. then it would make sense to me. that's the only way it could. i just don't even see how anyone would think this would generate interest in anyone. it was just so boring.

You're probably right. But you'd be surprised how many people would like this kinda cheap slop they call a movie. I think a lawsuit for defamation of character would be in the works if the Estate has any decency left. Or better yet...squash it before it even goes into production.

As far as dark energy goes, you're the level headed friend I didn't have a moment ago. sad I went ape-crazy a moment ago when I saw the trailer. sad I still am disturbed by it. But then again, I'm just too sensitive when it comes to this sorta thing. I usually can shrug it off...but idk what came over me. I just couldn't take it anymore that there are still people out there to sensationalize these lies to make their own sins seem trivial.

technically, the estate doesn't have a case... unless there is evidence they are using 'factual' evidence, then it is not slander. this is clearly a work of fiction, along the lines of parody. the filmmakers didn't really lie abou anything. the point of the film is that they brought him back to life, as per this dark ritual. then they are using him for some plot to take over the world or something. it's silly, but it's not slander at all.

yeah, i was pretty bored watching the trailer. i'm also sensitive to very dark energy like this (one of the reasons i get a headache every time i see and hear lady gaga; the imagery and feel of the music is quite similar to this, at least to me. gaga's got tons of 'illuminati' imagery in her art. whether or not she is a part of that is another conversation).

this trailer didn't make me upset at all. most things like this don't make me upset, because i know that this has nothing to do with michael. to me, they're not defaming his legacy and teachings at all with this. it's too far-fetch and amateurish to even be offensive. we are trained to focus on the target, but not everything going on around it.

they obviously did this knowing people will get upset, because they are just focused on michael. but there's a lot of stuff in that film. i think the hoax people (and people who claim michael was part of the 'illuminati', and was murdered by this organization) are gonna love this stuff. even the worst films are commentary on some type of state of affairs.

^^ That petition (designed to be or not) is probably the best piece of marketing the film has.

We've all watched the trailer, visited the site.

And yet 5 minutes ago we didn't know of it's existence.

What most fans fail to realise is the general public at large aren't interested in these kinds of movies or books - (Iain Halperin I'm talking to you) and it's only the fans who get wildly upset with it that actually elevates it into the public consciousness.

People will make films, write book and invent stories to sell stuff but they are pitching at a general public who frankly have MJ fatigue. Instead fans get worked up, some purchase the stuff and it propels itself.

On the flip side, I'm sure the hoax conspiracy theorists will lap it up and try to say MJ is behind it.

That dude in that last video, sounds enough like Michael that I squinted and moved closer to the comp to make sure it WASN'T MJ.

His take on the lyrics is funny though.

All any of this is really doing though, is making me want to listen to actual MJ tracks, which is weird because I don't really listen to MJ often anymore.
