Cornelius1973

When it comes to other artists then Prince, i would like to mention:

REM:

In 1996 their original drummer from the beginning, Bill Berry, did leave the band. The original four bandmembers where originating from the punk / college-scene in university-town Athens, Georgia: Two of them rather trained musicians (drummer Bill Berry and bassist Mike Mills) and the two others rather autodidactic, selftaught (guitarist Peter Buck, singer Michael Stipe)

The chemistry between those four made the band IMO, something alchemistic almost: the roles were sorta 'changed' within this band. Instead of offering melodies, Peter Buck played the rythmic parts on guitar, not like funcky chicken scratch, but like ongoing Byrds-like arpeggio's. Mike Mills offered the melody on bass (and how he did! i think he is the best bass-guitar player in pop-music since Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney). Michael Stipe sang often very unpronouncable, but his voice is almost working like an extra instrument, when it comes to his tone and delivery. Bill Berry was a very simple, but effective drummer (much like Ringo Star within the Beatles) who seemed to 'ground' this band.

Since he left REM, the other three members have continuee as a band, making use of guest-drummers and other side-musicians. Somehow they don't succed to create the same chemistry they did before, allthough they have released some very strong songs since. A problem is also IMO that they take way too much time before releasing new albums: Since Berry left, they take like 2 - 4 years between every new album, that is way too long for a band that has flourished from the punk / new-wave era and that delivered a new album every year in the eighties.

I will add the surviving members of Queen have tarnished the legacy when they teamed with Paul Rodgers. It's like the surviving members of the Jackson 5 touring with Usher as Michael. Just not the same

Janet Jackson - the All For You album. I went from being a mega fan to a massive hater as she just changed into the type of artist I despise. I don't detest her music as much these days as Ill always have the 80s and 90s classics to love, but I just couldn't give a rat's ass about any new music from her.

Prince - a million things, and then he redeems himself again. After the last 2 dreadful albums I'm only interested in live shows at the moment - so long as anything from 20Ten isn't on the set.

Lenny Kravitz - The last album.

KISS/Gene Simmons - his foul, erroneous and spiteful comments about MJ. I can overlook at lot of things, but that man is truly a dick.

Fun Lovin Criminals - Similar to Gene Simmons. Funny how their music turned to utter shit around the same time. Funnily enough Huey denounced the 100% Colombian album for some reason, which is kind of similar to Prince refusing to play Purple Rain whilst promoting the shit out of Emancipation.

Duran Duran - Working with Timbaland. Final nail in coffin.

Madonna - Seeing her live in concert. The second time was even worse than the first as first time I thought I may have just either caught a bad show or our seats were too bad. That second time we were right up front. She was terrible, the crowd was bored, the tickets were ridiculously expensive. Never. Again.

Mariah's whole persona change just irritates me. The older she gets the more childish and slutty she acts. I could have tried to support her but her voice is going too so why bother.

Whitney and crack! and Bobby! and crack!!

R Kelly....dude, I understood Aaliyah, but anything involving pee too is just beyond wrong...

Rihanna....for being such a bitch that Chris Brown had to smack her....razz I keed, I keed! I am disappointed in Chris for not being a gentleman and just walking away from the relationship before it came to such an inglorious end. But I do feel Rihanna played a very provoking part too, and I haven't really felt her persona since.

Lil Wayne....seriously, he's a gremlin.

50 Cent be making me want change back

Eminem be making me want Snickers o I could really be satisfied

R&B chicks acting like straight up underdressed hoes....no role models for young girls

Whitney Houston---I was very impressed with her in the 80s.Tremendous voice, sweet, likable personality, and some truly great songs. But something changed in the 90s.She slowly began throwing her career away, with one misstep after another....marrying Bobby Brown, doing drugs, missing concerts, destroying her voice, recording sub-par albums, participating in that horrible "reality show",and just basically making a total fool of herself. She was blessed with an amazing talent but she threw it all away. These days, she struggles through her live concerts, unable to hit the notes. There was a time when artists could do alot of damge to their lives and careers and yet still manage to make a comeback (Natalie Cole, for example),but I don't see that happening with Whitney.

Rihanna. She turned into a stupid bitch.

First she gets her ass beat by Chris Brown, which was, of course, a terrible thing and everyone symphathized for her...but then this fool turns around and gets back together with the dipshit that kicked her ass. Strike 1. I was waiting for Mary J Blige to swoop down and smack some sense into her.

Then naked photos get leaked -- strike 2. You'd think as a celebrity, you'd know that if you take naked photos of yourself, they WILL get leaked. NOTHING IS PRIVATE IN YOUR LIFE ANYMORE BITCH. And if you WANTED them to get leaked, you still a dumb bitch.

Then she goes on some radio show and says she feels sorry for any guys that don't get naked photos of their girlfriends. STRIKE FUCKING 3. What a stupid thing to say, especially when there's girls who look up to you. She went from this cute girl from Barbados to the typical pop slut. Thanks for being so unique, hoe.

Rant over.

Oh yeah, and fuck you too, Chris Brown. Punk ass bitch.

OUCH! lol Harsh but I agree with most of it.

R. Kelly - for reasons that are obvious.

Whitney - crack

Christina - yes, I did think this girl would evolve into an artist. That expectation ended very quickly.

Madonna - every time something political comes out of her mouth.

Shakira - she wavers back and forth from being a commercial pop tart.

Mariah - I loved her new sexy image during Butterfly. I thought it worked nicely....Then she wore an undersized bandana as a shirt in the Loverboy video... :SMH: Either way, I love Mariah and am still a fan.

Mariah Carey---Mariah is such a talented artist who can truly sing.I remember the outstanding singles from her first two albums......dramatic,soulful gems like "Vision Of Love","Can't Let Go",etc.Well-crafted songs that were perfectly suited to her voice.Somewhere along the way,she decided that hip-hop was the way to go (a similiar thing happened to Quincy Jones). So instead of more soulful gems,we got alot of shit-hop sounding crap featuring rappers. You name it...Nelly,Snoop,Jay-Z, and almost every other "hot" rapper from the past ten years has appeared on a Mariah Carey album.Instead of working with real musicians and producers, she often works with the same "producers" that do hip-hop albums, resulting in lame, faceless songs like "Touch My Body" and "Obsessed"....in other words, crap that sounds like everything else on the radio right now.Once in a blue moon, she comes out with a stunning song that takes you back to her early 90s heyday ("Fly Like A Bird").How about more of that??

Amy Winehouse - The video of her singing a racist football song and slanting her eyes to mock Asians completely turned me off from her. I deleted all her songs from my iPod and have never listened to her since. Intoxicated or not, that behavior was completely unacceptable. I will never support her again.

Lauryn Hill - I just cannot take her seriously anymore. I have given up on her musically. Her post-Miseducation output has been dismal, and her behavior has been cringeworthy. I now believe that those producers who sued her for acknowledgement and money for their work on Miseducation really were responsible for making that album as great as it is. I remember one of them saying something like she would never be able to do it again on her own; 12 years later and she hasn't done anything to prove him wrong.

Axl Rose/Guns N' Roses - I never was a fan, but I refused to even give them a chance after I heard "One in a Million." Again, it was just unacceptable.

perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

She did nod she put herself out there and did a courageous move by releasing the "Unplugged" album when the obvious should've been another commercial friendly studio album.

Not to mention, she recorded a double CD set worth of new materials titled Khulami Phase but spineless Sony wanted "Miseducation Pt.2" not some rock/funk album by a female black singer filled with mostly social commentary, and now its collecting dust due to short sightedness.

I miss her presence deeply, moreso now than before, but I'll always respect her for not selling herself or her talent short for the sake of being on the charts,,,,,something extremely rare among R&B singers nowadays. I hope to see a "young" talent who gives a damn like Ms.Hill, I really do.

I never have been fond of bands trying to continue without their lead. It just misses something.

I know everyone plays a part, but in some cases, you can plug in whomever and the drop off isn't bad. GOing from David Lee Roth to Sammy Hagar wasn't terrible, but moving to the lead singer from Hagar to the lead singer from that other group (gary Charone?) was the nail in the coffin.

The surviving members are entitled to a career, but the use of the name messes up the legacy...

I've actually seen the video footage a few years ago. Granted, the security guard was pushing & shoveling audience members back from going on the stage. But he did NOT deserved the verbal abuse (racial slurs included) that he received from a distance by Nikki.

The guard did filed a lawsuit against Motley Crue because of what Nikki did. But the entire matter was settled out-of-court.

I didn't give hope, I just accepted the fact that she acknowledged that there's more to life than having a music career, selling keys and hopping on every interview just for the sake of letting people know she ain't dead.

Granted, I miss her presence deeply,,,,,,but I have to accept that she wants to live her life on her own terms. After all, everybody in the world wants that very same thing for themselves too.
