Is there something that an artist has done that has turned you off from them?

Happy Holiday's, all!!

I was just sitting here thinking, has there been an artist that has done or said something, that has turned you off from them? For me, it's the following.

1. Rihanna - It seems to me that after her altercation with Chris Brown, she lost her mind. Not that she was a great artist to begin with, but now, she just seems angry and acts like her shyt don't stink.

2. Prince - It seems like right after the Emancipation period and when he scribbled, "Slave" on his face, he became more of a spectical that before.

3. Quincy Jones - for not only making a mockrey out of today's music, but also for what he said about MJ in an interview, not too long after his death. (He reffered to Michael as one crazy mofo and could not understand his reasoning for his appearance; While allot of people felt that way, Quincy always acted as if Michael was an okay dude).

Thoughts?

He lost his marbles. Thats the only defense I could say about dude lol I've read his book and watched his Listen Up! documentary, and what I saw was a warm, good natured genius. I've blocked everything he did/said in the last year out of preserving that side of his personality because lets face it,,,,,Uncle Q is becoming senile, sadly.

George Michael forgetting he is a pop star and going mature and all on us post-80s

Mariah Carey going from a person in her twenties acting like she is in her fourties to a person in her forties acting as if she was in her twenties

Sugababes disposing Kesha

Rod Steward releasing too many covers

britney spears-she comes out with catchy songs, but I don't like her voice, she ruined it with smoking though once in awhile she'll have okay moments, I would also hear she refused to sign autographs for fans around the beginning of her career, but I hadn't heard stuff like that lately.

prince-I thought he was stupid for naming vanity 6 after 6 breasts and thought he was such a womanizer for it and better than that

janet-I'm a huge fan but I went through a phase where I thought she was being too, too sexual and graphic, and I couldn't relate to her anymore, but it doesn't bother me anymore. I totally get it now, and no one gets mad at males for being like that in their music, so it's a double standard. She's my girl.

Most Reggae artists, musicians & singers from Jamaica. Used to LOVE Reggae music, until I began to understand the lyrics and philosophy better. Unfortunately, the more I learned, the more I've been turned off to Jamaican culture in general.

Bootsy Collins. Which is WAY unusual for me because I grew up on Bootsy & P-Funk. Have all of Bootsy's records, and many other albums that he's played on, and still think he's an awesome musician (...and I'll even buy his next CD without even hearing one note of it first).

But something has happened in recent years that has kind of turned me off a bit to him. I can't even lay my finger on what it is. Bootsy is one of my biggest hero's. But I can't ignore the fact that when I hear of his new projects, like his University, or any of his tweets, Facebook or MySpace updates, something inside me sort of/kind of doesn't care.

I don't know what happened. I just know that's the way I've been feeling about Bootsy lately. shrug I wish this wasn't the case, and if my feelings don't change, I hope at least at some point I can figure out what it is that happened with me and my hero.

Yeah, I dunno. But some of their philosophy and rhetoric is God-awful. When I used to hear them shout "FIRE!" in many of their songs, I thought they were referring to firing-up a bong, or lighting a joint of some good weed. I never realized until recently that most of them are referring to setting a gay person on fire. eek And many Reggae songs seem to have some form of that rhetoric somewhere within the lyrics of their songs. Fuck That!

I think some artists got evil intentions and give reggae and Jamaica a real bad name. I doubt someone like Bob Marley was homophobic for instance.

Yeah, not ALL. I never heard any of that in Bob Marley's lyrics, or from Beres Hammond. But Homophobia is undeniably a solid and defining element of Jamaica's culture.

And I think if he was alive today he would've said "Me no have problems with people who do that, me love everybody!" nod That's just the way he talked so I ain't mocking him. lol

Don't know that I'd go as far as to assume THAT, lol. But I've never heard anything hateful drop from Bob Marley's mouth.

True. lol He probably shun from that type of talk. His thing was unity so nothing personal would've ever been brought up anyway, he wasn't that type of artist. lol

Rihanna. She turned into a stupid bitch.

First she gets her ass beat by Chris Brown, which was, of course, a terrible thing and everyone symphathized for her...but then this fool turns around and gets back together with the dipshit that kicked her ass. Strike 1. I was waiting for Mary J Blige to swoop down and smack some sense into her.

Then naked photos get leaked -- strike 2. You'd think as a celebrity, you'd know that if you take naked photos of yourself, they WILL get leaked. NOTHING IS PRIVATE IN YOUR LIFE ANYMORE BITCH. And if you WANTED them to get leaked, you still a dumb bitch.

Then she goes on some radio show and says she feels sorry for any guys that don't get naked photos of their girlfriends. STRIKE FUCKING 3. What a stupid thing to say, especially when there's girls who look up to you. She went from this cute girl from Barbados to the typical pop slut. Thanks for being so unique, hoe.

Rant over.

Oh yeah, and fuck you too, Chris Brown. Punk ass bitch.

Jermaine Jackson - The Grease. He just refuses to wash it out. Ughhhh....

Fantasia - Attempt a "Fake" suicide just for promotion. Really Tasia? Are you that desperate? I was completely turned off from that and didn't buy the CD because of it.

Mariah Carey - Mariah reminds me of that movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. You know, instead of going forward she just seems to be regressing. In the beginning of her career she seemed to be much more mature, her material had more depth to it...Vision Of Love, Vanishing, I Don't Wanna Cry, etc. How did we get from there to Touch My Body, Obsessed, and the rest of it? Stop going backwards Mimi.

Kanye West - Mr. West is an extremely, extremely gifted rapper but his antics are gonna start overshadowing his music and message. You mark my words. I'm not talking about Bush doesn't care about black people, not the Taylor vs Kanye night, I'm talking about something in the future. He was able to recover from past controversies but he'll eventually have a fall out in the media that will be the nail in his coffin. I said it here first.
