Poll: Top Albums and Songs of 2010

We're still going through the decades, but I thought a quick and dirty poll of your favorite albums and songs of 2010 would be another fun prospect! As we are only covering one year, I thought I'd reduce the maximum number of items to submit. in light of that feel free to submit ranked lists of up to 20 songs and 20 albums, and I'll post the results after the deadline at midnight, January 15th, 2011 org time! Please submit your lists to ian_renner[at]yahoo.com, replacing the [at] with the @ symbol. Make sure you tell me what your Org username is. I'll reply to your message to let you know that I got your list. I'd prefer to receive lists made in Microsoft Excel with a .xls extension with separate columns for artist, album/song and year.

I'd like to change the artist format guidelines:

I'd appreciate artist names to be submitted this way:

David Bowie (not Bowie, David)
Cure, The (not The Cure) (This is different to previous poll formats!)

Each list must contain at least 5 albums or 5 songs.

One other thing- no compilations!

Bring on those lists!

Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Right of the top of my head it's been about Robyn all year long. I saw her two times this year and she's been on heavy rotation in the ipod and in the car throughout the year. She's awesome!

Hmm...let's see what else I come up with.

Best Albums

1) Robyn - Body Talk Parts 1, 2 & 3 (I consider all three dics as one deluxe set)

2) Brendan Perry - Ark

3) Dragonette - Fixin' To Thrill

4) Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

5) Corinne Bailery Rae - The Beach

6) Goldfrapp Headfirst

7) Kelis - Fleshtone

8) Scissor Sisters - Night Work

9) Hot Chip- One Life Stand

10) LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening

11) Little Dragon - Machine Dreams

12) Groove Armada - Black Light

13 MeShell Ndegeocello - Devil's Halo

14) Quadron - Quadron

15) Shakespeare Sister - Songs from the Red Room (Deluxe Edition)

16) The Gossip - Music For Men

17) Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

Best Songs

1) Dancin On My Own - Robyn

2) Indestructible - Robyn

3) Fembot - Robyn

4) Cry when you get older - Robyn

5) We Dance to the Beat - Robyn

6) Acappella - Kelis

7) 4th of July - Kelis

8) Invisible Light - Scissor Sisters

9) Any Which Way - Scissor Sisters

10) Utopia - Brendan Perry

11) Babylon - Brendan Perry

14 Pressure - Quadron

15) Paper Romance - Groove Armada

16) Shameless - Bryan Ferry

17) Drunk Girls - LCD Soundsystem

18) Throw - LCD Soundsystem

19) Momma's Place - Roisin Muryphy

20) She Needs Me - Fyfe Dangerfield

21) Liar - Dragonette

22) Love's On Its Way - Corinne Bailey Rae

23) One Life Stand - Hot Chip

24) White Knuckles - OK GO

25) Get Myself Together - Robyn

I'd like to know how to handle these. There was a digital Part 3 EP released on iTunes and Amazon that had only 5 songs, but I believe all physical copies are the full Body Talk album which combines tracks from all three editions.

I'm happy to accept the Robyn albums as separate. Where people list all 3 together, I'll count them separately as a tie.

Good question. The final "Body Talk" has five tracks from Part 1 and five tracks from Part 2 with the 5 songs from the digital EP added to complete the third and final release of the "Body Talk" series.

Part 1 contains an accoustic version of "Hang with Me," which was re-released in Part 2 in its complete pop-dance version. Part 2 includes and accoustic version of "Indestructible" which, again, is re-released in a dance-pop version as one of the five new songs in the digitial 5 track EP and in the final "Body Talk" album.

Body Talk tracklist:

1. Fembot
2. Don´t Fucking Tell Me What To Do
3. Dancing On My Own
4. Indestructible
5. Time Machine
6. Love Kills
7. Hang With Me
8. Call Your Girlfriend
9. None of dem
10. We Dance To The Beat
11. U Should Know Better
12. Dance Hall Queen
13. Get Myself Together
14. In My Eyes
15. Stars 4-Ever

From Robyn herself:

“Even though it was never a conceptual idea, but a practical solution to the problem of getting bored with just doing one thing at a time, it has influenced not only the music, but all the visual content for the album as well. And the way I’ve communicated with press and listeners. It’s been amazing to share the process with you. As soon as I have had an idea of what I’m doing so have the fans and that interaction has been super interesting and fun to me. As I’m writing this, I am still mixing the third album.

“There are 5 new songs ready to be released and I’m also including music from Body talk pt 1 and 2 to complete this body of work in what will make the turbo version of the Body Talk album. Thanks for tagging along with me on this ride!”

I was kinda let down by Sade. Prince's album is pretty nice, though! Not going to buy Michael's, as I'll feel dirty knowing that 50 Cent and Akon are there too. I will say that 2010 has had some inCREdible music, and it ranks well within my top 10 years of all time!

I'm getting harder to please. I listened to a lot of new albums that friends recommended and thought most were just alright - meh. Certainly not listing Prince or Janelle Monáe.

Jeez I am getting too old for my age. I listened to classical throughout the year. The real old oldies.

1 Michael Jackson - Michael

I came back to the org to see the discussion on Michael'a new fantastic album. Can't see a mention of it. Was thinking of starting an adulation thread but I know it would just get dogged.

Behind The Mask is the knd of song prince would kill for. Genius utter genius.

Thank God for Michael.

2 Drake - Thank Me Later

3 Rihanna - Loud

4 Neyo - Libra Scale

5 Usher - Raymond V Raymond Deluxe Edition
