I thought about Tricky's Mixed Race, but it just doesn't stand out to me in his catelogue. The last one I really listened to a lot was "Vulnerable".

I havent heard Julieta Venega's album... maybe I'll check that out.

Change it one more time..

Not for me! The ArchAndroid is now among my top 50 albums ever. Hence, amazing! The last amazing album for me came in 2007.

There are definite similarities in the vocals to Siouxsie. Zola's music is much more experimental though. Especially on her previous album The Spoils.

Some tweaks: Kanye's is better than I thought, the birds verse on Monster is just brilliant, but he misses out on third spot for puerile braggadocio(and lyrics like "I was the abomination of Obama's nation").

The Banshees had a fair amount of U.K. top 40 hits. Nothing from The Spoils is radio friendly at all. The tracks are more like soundscapes than songs. Stridulum is more conventional, but still very atmospheric.

I'm a bit surprised nobody else has mentioned Twin Shadow. It seems right up the org's alley- soulful vocals by a somewhat freaky black male with heavy doses of post punk and new wave aesthetic.

We're still going through the decades, but I thought a quick and dirty poll of your favorite albums and songs of 2010 would be another fun prospect! As we are only covering one year, I thought I'd reduce the maximum number of items to submit. in light of that feel free to submit ranked lists of up to 20 songs and 20 albums, and I'll post the results after the deadline at midnight, January 15th, 2011 org time! Please submit your lists to ian_renner[at]yahoo.com, replacing the [at] with the @ symbol. Make sure you tell me what your Org username is. I'll reply to your message to let you know that I got your list. I'd prefer to receive lists made in Microsoft Excel with a .xls extension with separate columns for artist, album/song and year.

I'd like to change the artist format guidelines:

I'd appreciate artist names to be submitted this way:

David Bowie (not Bowie, David)
Cure, The (not The Cure) (This is different to previous poll formats!)

Each list must contain at least 5 albums or 5 songs.

One other thing- no compilations!

Bring on those lists!

How come we can't just type out our lists in the email we send?

It is his third album now, i love it, it's not an easy listen. Bit of a mish mash of styles, hard to describe Moonbeam, if you like left field electronica, you will love Flying Lotus.

In no special order:

Kings Go Forth - "The Outsiders Are Back"

Janelle Monae - "The ArchAndroid"

YahZarah - "The Ballad Of Purple St. James"

Erykah Badu - "Return Of The Ankh"

Adriana Evans - "Walking With The Night"

Bilal - "Airtight's Revenge"

Chromeo - "Business Casual"

The Black Keys - "Brothers"

Prince - "20ten"

Santana - "Guitar Heaven"

So far, I'm enjoying Chromeo and Janelle's albums the most.
