I really enjoyed this year of the awards, Alicia Keys was off key and beside herself, getting all hot and bothered singing to Prince onstage! Patti brought it home, Chris Brown stole the show up there crying like that it took us all by suprise. He made me feel really bad for him. Trey Songz fucked that song up sounding like a chipmunk....

Queen was a great hostess!!!

A bevy of music stars are on tap to perform a tribute to Prince during Sunday night's BET Awards. One singer who will not be there serenading the well-heeled industry crowd is Mel'isa Morgan – the only powerhouse vocalist to hit the top of the charts with a sultry version of Prince's naughty ballad 'Do Me Baby' in 1986. Sources close to the production hint that avant-garde rock & soul wonder Janelle Monae, and Patti LaBelle will be among a handful of female singers hand-selected (by Prince) to do the honors of performing a medley of his hits. Morgan wasn't even considered for the task."You know, I heard about the 'BET Awards' show planning a tribute to Prince and I sent out a few emails to see what was going on but, for some reason -- even though everyone in music industry knows that I have recorded a #1 Prince song and it stayed #1 for 4 weeks -- I am still kind of under the radar when it comes to asking me to be a part of shows like this," Morgan told Blackvoices.com today. "I did not hear back from anyone," the 'Fools Paradise' belter revealed. "So I guess I won't be there to show him my love." Over the years, only a few singers would dare touch Prince's well-guarded catalog of hits, most notably his frequent collaborator Chaka Khan ('I Feel For You'), and other singers such as Stephanie Mills ('How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore?'), Sinead O'Connor ('Nothing Compares 2 U'), T-Boz ('If I Was Your Girlfriend'), and Randy Crawford ('Purple Rain'). A musical genius of the highest order, Prince has give credit where it's due and reportedly acknowledged that the Queens, New York-bred Morgan made his 'Do Me Baby' a "great" song. "The reason why the audience can't get enough of [my version of] ... is because the delivery of the vocals are real," she attested. "When I do that song, the audience goes back to what they were doing when it came out...how many babies they made off that song and especially how sensual it makes you feel." "Even now," she continued, "No matter where I am...when I start to sing that song the first thing I hear "That's my Song" from someone in the audience and they just let the song take them away ... I think I was able to make the song sexier and when I hit the high note...it just brings chills right down to your bones...because when I hear it on the radio...that's what it does to me." About being conspicuously omitted from the biggest televised celebration of black music, there are no sour grapes on Morgan's part The former Capitol Records hit-maker, who regularly tours off of the strength of her 1980s hits – and continues to be a mainstay on R&B radio's Quiet Storm formats, is taking the high road. "I do hope Prince knows in his heart that doing that song was very special for me and if he knows that ...I am cool." __________________

The BET awards over all pretty good this year, here are my thoughts

-Kanye didn't do much for me, he's gonna float one day if his head gets any bigger lol

-Usher, why did he choose such a boring song to perform, i expected some energy from him

-TI was ok

-Eminem, sit down

-Alicia got such a big intro to her performance i thought she was gonna ger some kind of award lol

-Chris brown.... I loved his tribute and i think michael would have been proud. His tribute is up there with janet's. When he cried i got teary eyes and cried with him, i think he was crying because he obviously loved michael and idolized him and to get the chance to honor him when people have shunned him is huge. Also the lyrics of man in the mirror must've gotten to him, people usually cry to this song anyways so add all of these elements and i can see why he broke down, those tears seemed genuine to me.

-EL FREAKIN DEBARGE! i haven't seen dude in years i so happy to see him perform, he still got it i love this dude. He went thru a medley a some of my favorite debarge songs and i was pleased.

-PRINCE! he was giving all kinds of side eyes that were killin me lol i think he over all enjoyed the show and i am soooo happy he was honored because he doesn't get enough recognition. Alicis is a fiesty pregnant thing lol the look prince gave her was hilarious. Janelle is a bit much for me but i like her energy and i can appreciate her artistry. Patti brought it home, when she came out i was like YASSSS!

-Tyrese did teddy justice and i almost thru my panties at my computer screen lol( iwas watching it from a live stream)

No luv for Esperanza Spalding? I thought she did a good job on If I Was Your Girlfriend.

I want to talk about these fools, but enough has already been said. Somebody PLEASE shoot Diddy before he promotes again.

Did anyone watch the aftershow? Am I the only one who got SICK of those twins in the blue dresses trying to ham it up for the camera every chance they got? Okay. I'm done.

El kill't it.

Chris kill't it.

Esperanza kill't it

Fergie looked less like a whore than I expected.

Jada looked more like I whore than I expected

Nicki Minaj looked as much like a whoe as I expected.

lol

One of the many reasons I love Prince: his facial expressions. Watching his reactions was more entertaining than the folks on stage! He had me WEAK!!! lol

I don't understand why Nicki Minaj felt the need to lipsynch! Ain't like the bitch gotta worry about hittin' a bum note or somethin'...confused

The only other performance I liked was El Debarge.

My twocents on the MJ tribute: Dancing was on point, but he should've left it at that. If Usher, one of MJ's biggest dick-riders, can stand next to his casket and manage to get to the end of "Gone Too Soon" before showing some emotion, Chris can get through "Man In The Mirror." I think it was more of his personal problems making an appearance than anything else. Again, just my twocents

I thought Chris Brown's dance tribute to Michael was on point, especially the laser light on the clothes bit, that was tight. BET dropped the ball because they really should have let him do that last year. shrug

As for his crying on "Man in the Mirror"...that was some F U N N Y shit!!! I couldn't help myself...I laughed my damn ass off! I was literally rolling around on the floor, cracking the fuck up! [img:$uid]http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e70/SexyBeautifulOne/lmao.gif[/img:$uid]

I really don't get how people can say that Chris Brown's performance of "Man in the Mirror" was funny at all. And most of all I don't get how people are saying that he really wasn't crying or it was all an act. Please. There are just going to be some cold, hardcore angry ass, non-forgiving people no matter what. I feel that his performance was genuine, he worked hard, and it paid off. He did an excellent job with his performance. I wouldn't have preferred for him to be sobbing through the last piece of the performance but that's how he felt. People really do forget that EVERYONE does have emotions. Everybody's made mistakes in their lives, there isn't one PERFECT person in the world let alone on the ORG. So there I said it. And that's my rant for the day. biggrin
