Earth, Wind, and Fire Appreciation

EWF is my favorite group ever. No single artist, nor group can even come close to exhibiting the talent that this group has displayed. From R&B, to Funk, to Disco...this group had it all! They transcended race and genre. My heroes! Maurice White's talent was kickass! Phillip voice was butter! Verdine is a damned good bass guitarist and hype-man. The horn section was awesome and rivaled that of James Brown.

Giving a shout out to my favorite group ever!

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

One of my fondest memories is from the night before I graduated from Undergrad. My friends and I all camped out in one apartment for our last night together, and the 10 of us played EWF all night, drunk off our asses. lol

The next morning, the guy down the hall said, "Did I hear 'Reasons' at 2 o'clock this morning?"

giggle

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

I have all their albums except for Touch the World, Heritage and Millennium (87-93).

These haven't been remastered, have they?

Are they easy to get on CD?

Just saw them at Essence! (Half the crowd got up and left tho since they are used to Frankie Beverly & Maze closing...smh)

I was so tired, after 3 days, 3 nights, sitting through Mary I was irritated. But then they came on and BAM!! Them motherfuccaz still got it. God it was heaven. I was the only white boy up and dancing and i didn't givva fuck. Kalimba Story live never gets old!!! Neither does Love's Holiday, Cant hide love, lets groove, devotion...on and on and on and on.

Love me just watching Verdyne!!!!

Still my 2nd fave band of all time after TLC.

I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I love Kalimba Story. One of my friends just up and purchased a Kalimba, and he caught on very quickly and played it. I call Verdine the "original hypeman". He's great full of unstoppable energy even till this very day.

TLC ? whofarted

Ah yes, The Elements of funk, soul and jazz! Without a doubt, this is my favorite band ever. Verdine, Philip and the fellas put it down back in the day and if you didn't dig their cosmic, love and peace, intellectual messages, then you couldn't resist those grooves. Maurice White was (and still is) a visionary and there will never be another band like this. Period.

Some of my favorite jams (and trust me, there are many others):

lol That's not even scratching the surface, you know we can roll deep with som' EWF.

Evil is such a groove nod, and Imagination is simply bad ass. Jupiter is another selection that Phenix Horns stand up on.

Oh you found "Imagination"...I was looking for that, couldn't find it. Check out that note that Phil hits starting at about 3:01. I am digging that "side by side" track...is that the lead singer from the "Emotions" singing that with Maurice?

Yeah that's one of the Emotions singing with Maurice and the boys. They really did alot of great session work with the band as well for a while.

Oh and how can we forget this classic from the '75 masterpiece LP That's The Way Of The World? I wish more albums would have that subtle, jazzy-funk and mellowness that this album had because I've always dug it and this is one of the songs that exemplify the reason...

Talkin' about spiritual love as opposed to physical love ya'll! GENIUS...
