I know Stevie said the music for "Part-Time Lover" was inspired by two earlier tracks from The Supremes, but the song sounds more like a rip-off of Hall and Oates' "Maneater" disbelief

I think it's because Hall & Oates were inspired by the same thing, but there was only one hip way to produce a hit in the 80s - drum machine!

Here is an even better example:

The Rolling Stones "Miss You"/Joan Osborn "Safety In Numbers".

Who doesn't know that? lol "Quickie"'s melody and "Iesha"'s melody are identical and the music on the hooks are quite similar as well.

I mean, everything about the "Camille" albums gives me more of a Sly Stone mood than Stevie. I can understand why you say that though, Stevie did the helium sound effect in "Maybe Your Baby"(and the end of Living Just Enough For The City) but everytime I hear "Camille", Sly Stone comes to mind.

I don't know though, maybe you meant something else by your example smile

Interesting story about that song. Mick's daughter noticed the how similar the two songs sounded, and advised him to give a writer's credit to KD.

Just because it sung in a monotone does not mean that she rips it off. It just means that they are sung in the same style. However, if you listen to "Do it anyway you wanna", they both have similar chord progressions.

Both songs sound like this song...they are just slowed down.

I'm not saying Janet ripped off MJ's song. Its the other way around. Just listen to both songs back to back. shrug

Boyz II Men - "End Of The Road"
ripped of by:
Boyz II Men - "I'll Make Love To You"

... and ripped off by :
Boyz II Men - "4 Seasons Of Loneliness"
... and, again, ripped off by:
Boyz II Men - "Oh Well"

.. The 4 songs use the same chord progressions are slow jams with similar musical and vocal arrangements...

Hate it when 'artists' use the same formula and genre, melody as " This is gonna be a hit" formula...

Same shit goes for :

Usher - "U Got It Bad"/ Usher - "Burn"
(and Mariah Carey "The One", Monica, "Shoulda Better", Toni Braxton "Trippin' and many others
lol lol )

TLC - Creep // Texas In Our Lifetime (You can literally sing the chorus of Creep over that of the Texas song! I think Dallas Austin was involved in both, though.)

Kool and the Gang - Celebration // Prince - Get Yo Groove on (You get the impression that every so often, Prince goes, "I want one of those!" and just takes it.) razz
