What was the conclusion (or your own thoughts) on MJ's claims the police abused him physically upon booking him?
MJ claimed multiple things that also insinuated racism/discrimination but, then seemingly had them shot down by the Santa Police Dep. one by one.

Then, when you view MJ speaking of it again, it just gives off a terrible, lying, guilty image of himself because his claims were shot down.

He also supplied a pic...could be real. Maybe the cuffs claim was true and all else was an exaggeration or he's no better than Janet Arviso.

It just seemed to be a serious claim and just as soon as it was claimed, it was hushed on both sides.

Thoughts?

Me personally, and this view may not be shared, was MJ was probably taunted and verbally abused and ridiculed. The cuffs when placed on may have been too tight and might have caused some bruising but I am not sure that he was physically beaten or abused to the point of those bruises. They were likely inflicted by perhaps being held to tight by offices but don't know to what extent anything went on.

The reason I think it was not played out was that his Lawyer didn't want to play a race card during the trial, so the whole police abuse of a black man angle didn't play out.

I don't think MJ was lying but then I do think things may have been presented to put him in the best light that perhaps weren't 100% truthful. I was happy though that it didn't progress as it ultimately wasn't important to the case.

I think this is as far as i'm going to get and is pretty much what i think.

It seems it will remain another mystery.

MOL, in a sense i'm a former admirer but, i will always keep a watch on news because i grew up on him and can't just throw that away just because im not into the pop songs anymore.
I'm 50/50 on it all. I can adore his sweet nature but despise his deluded views and sick acts i.e. thinking he's some kind of god (Earth Song performances, hugging and kissing kids to forgive them, promos with him in slow motion, clips of ridiculous people fainting, all to a classical choral piece insinuating worship or religion!) or i can adore Off The Wall and despise later work.

But, whatever, i just casually follow. I get all my news from this thread.

ANOTHER documentary

Whitney Houston - Stars Remember Jackson In Gest Tribute

Stars Remember Jackson In Gest Tribute

WHITNEY HOUSTON and SMOKEY ROBINSON have opened up about MICHAEL JACKSON a year after his death - for a new TV tribute created by the KING OF POP's best pal, DAVID GEST.

Gest has grilled members of the Jackson family as well as the Thriller legend's pals Robinson, Houston, Dionne Warwick and Petula Clark for his four-hour 'popumentary', The Real Michael Jackson.

The show includes an interview with Jackson's eldest sister Rebbie, who discusses the singer's alleged pill addiction, while his beloved mum Katherine pays a touching tribute to her son.

Gest explains, "I have spent the past three months travelling the world interviewing people who were most important in (Jackson's) life. I believe this popumentary will entertain and educate in equal measures about who the real Michael Jackson was. I hope this will serve as a lasting testament to the compassion and love that he had for all mankind."

The special is due for release in June (10), a year after the superstar died from a cardiac arrest last summer (09). A broadcast date has not yet been confirmed.

Here we go again. The funniest thing is that there were no pills, other than the ones given in order to administer Propofol, in Jackson's body. But people insist he was a pill addict.

It's easy to decipher: Joe and pals Leonard Rowe and Brian Oxman were hounding Michael as of 2007. This ended up with Michael refusing to even allow them into his house. They try to justify this to the rest of the family by claiming MJ is a junkie and refuses to have contact with his family because he doesn't want it to know. Then the Jacksons hound Michael for a reunion tour which results in MJ being tired of them and, therefore, refuses to have any contact with them. The family, eager to pressure him, wonders why doesn't MJ want contact with them and start thinking he is hiding something from them, hence the distance. They have absolutely no proof he is a drug addict, but because he refuses to have contact with the family, they think he is hiding something from them and, keeping in mind what they had been hearing (from Joe and his pals), start thinking MJ was a junkie. Then, everytime they reach MJ they ask him if he is a drug addict. MJ replies "no" but they, eager to find a justification for the distance kept (since the Jacksons' ego doesn't allow them to look at their own actions) still think he is a drug addict. Then MJ dies and, three weeks after, you have the Jacksons screaming "DRUGGIE". Just read Tito's interview with the Mirror. He confesses he has no proof that MJ is an addict, but because he refused to ahve contact with his family and because of what they had been hearing from "sources", the family thinks he is a junkie. So, I give them ZERO credibility. Even if Michael was an addict the facts remain: the only reason as to why the Jackons claim he was an addict is the fact that he kept a distance from them, so, therefore, they think Michael was "hiding something". And Joe and his pals did the rest whenever they couldn't get $$$ out of MJ. Tito confessed this.

First they pressured MJ to do a reunion tour. Then MJ tired of the hounding completely cuts contact with them, so they start thinking he is hiding something, and conjecture that he is a drug addict. He dies, and the family does everything in its power to perpetuate the MJ was a junkie B.S..

You continue to miss the point. At the time of his death MJ may have not had that much drugs in him, apart from what Dr Murray had given him. However, MJ himself had admitted through his music he was addicted to drugs in the pass. Now the fact that he had been taking propofol to help him sleep in itself proves that he must have built up a tolerance to more conventional sleeping medication. Dr Murray was NOT the first person to give him propofol, he was just neglectful with it. Drug addiction is similar to alcholism. Most alcoholics still see themselves as alcoholics even though they may have not had a drink for 10 years.

No, whatsgoingon, you are the one who is missing the point because you don't know what Propofol is. Taking Propofol, even continuously, does not equal being a drug addict. First, Propofol stays in the body for 3-4 minutes and acts immediately which makes it almost impossible to become addicted to it. Besides, an addict to propofol can't even move!

Here's what you don't understand: taking Propofol, even on a daily basis, has nothing to do with drug addiction. A current example (yet stupid but elucidative) to make it easier: a person who is opperated everyday, and therefore is anesthesiated with Propofol, is not a drug addict.

However, MJ himself had admitted through his music he was addicted to drugs in the pass.

He had a dependency on drugs in 1993, which started after the pedophilia accusations. He went to rehab for it. We're talking about a few months dependency which ended with rehab. So I fail to dee your point, if there's anything to see, anyway.

Dr Murray was NOT the first person to give him propofol, he was just neglectful with it.

lol Yes, that's true. I just fail to see what's so relevant in that fact. He was an insomniac who wanted to sleep hence the Propofol use. He used it whenever he was on tour post 1993. MJ was desperate to sleep, tired. So when he was on tour, he needed to rest. So, he hired a doctor to put him to sleep everynight so he wouldn't be tired the next day and, consequently, be capable of presenting a good show. Dr. Ionache was the other doctor who gave Propofol to him. And you know what he said? "Michael wasn't a drug addict." and even told a story about Michael giving money to one of his patients. The funniest part of it: you just read the part of the interview in which the guy said he had given Michael Propofol. You "forgot" to read the part in which Ionache talks about Michael NOT being a drug addict. Just like Cherilyn Lee said: "Michael Jackson wasn't a drug addict. He just wanted to sleep.".

To sum up: Jackson took Propofol when he was on tour so that he would be able to rest, since he was an insomniac. He wasn't addicted to it, he simply wanted to sleep. So, he hires doctors to put him to sleep safely.

And here, Whatgoingon, is where you realize you were the one who missed the point. You can advance to the "you're an worshipper" argument. It may be the only one you have left.

Isn't it funny that the Jacksons never give a timeline for the "interventions"? Isn't it funny that Janet quickly deviated the conversation when Oprah asked her to give a timeline for the interventions? She got away with it by claiming she hadn't been in the last intervention (while ignoring the other part of her question...the timeline!). Had Oprah asked her about the 2nd, 3rd, 4rd interventions, Janet would have said she wasn't in those interventions as well. It's so obvious they're doing this so that no one (since the public thinks Jackson was a druggie) will point the finger to them and claim: "Your brother was a drug addict with 3 kids and you did nothing.". The Jacksons are obsessed with the "perfect family" image and that's not new to anyone. It reminds me of Margaret Maldonado saying Tito and Jackie frequently talked about Joe as some kind of monster, yet, in the media, they put him in an amazingly positive light.

Or maybe, they genuinely think they intervened. Perhaps they think that, whenever they reached him and, after pressuring him endlessly, asked him if he was a junkie, they were making interventions. Or, most probably, the Jacksons want to think that whenever they asked him- after the houndings- if he was a druggie, that was an intervention.

And, why, in the blue hell, would people who abandon their own kids, care about a brother? Why in the blue hell would Tito- who refused to even pay for his kids' studies and aliments- care about a brother? Wny would Jermaine and Randy who, pure and simply, abandoned their own children, care about a brother? Why would Randy who has never talked to his own children (his daughters said this) care about a brother?

It seems to me they remembered the times in which they hounded Michael and whenever they reached him- after hours of failed pressure- asked him if he was a drug addict (since, in their minds, MJ refused to have contact with them because he was "hiding something") and, now, they exxagerate it and make it seem as if it was an intervention. Or, and all the available evidence appoints in this direction, they invented the interventions so that the "perfect family" ballooney wouldn't be ruined.

Hmm... first verse live, the rest of it lip synched.

nod
I was talking to a guy who mixed the first 2 shows Michael did at Wembley for the Bad tour, and he said Michael always sang live but to the prerecorded vocals. The tapes he has of the shows has Michael singing completely live, even to songs he lipsynched to (Smooth Criminal, Bad, and The Way You Make Me Feel)

The fact of the matter is, most people will not take propofol no matter how serve their insomnia is. MJ had obviously built up tolerance to more traditional sleeping medication, that in itself is a kind of addiction, if he had to take propofol now and again to sleep. Don't kid yourself to think that is normal behaviour for someone who suffers from insominia no matter how serve their problem is. The thing about you guys you see addictions as a hard-core druggie living on the street, shooting up every minute. Drug addiction comes in various forms.
