MJ didn't think the Neptunes tracks were good/strong enough, but he thought that the overproduced Rodney Jerkins bullshit that resulted in Invincible was good enough? rolleyes ... neutral

I wonder if he regretted that in the end?

I think Pharell is a much more creative producer than Jerkins.

i just tried to find the interview with Pharrell explaining his lifelong wish to work with MJ and how he finally wrote alot of things with MJ in mind and MJ's people called Pharrell up and told him that MJ was not interested in working with him because he thought his material was not strong enough and how crushed he was. Of course, alot of what he had worked on went on to become monster hits for Usher, Justin Timberlake and the like. I recall Pharrell saying that he saw MJ a couple times and MJ hinted that he was wrong by not using the songs. I wish I could find that video...

MJ was an absolute idol for Pharrell and he saw working with the king of pop as a crowning achievement citing MJ as the reason why he ever did music to begin with. Pharrell also said that his fav MJ song was "Thats What You Get" (For Being Polite) by The Jacksons.

If MJ had allowed Pharrell to produce the uptempo tracks on 'Invincible, that album would have been a classic.

I agree. I ve been a fan of Pharrell and the Neptunes/N.E.R.D. since the beginning and I always dreamed of them working together. It would have been pure magic. Sadly, we wont get the chance now to hear what could have been.

This is the intended booklet of the canceled 2001 Special Edition of Thriller (and it looks cooler too! cool ):

[Edited 6/7/10 3:29am]

That does look cool, but the picture on the right of the first panel doesn't even look like it's from the Thriller era.

It's not. It's from either late 1986 or early 1987

I really want that download link but can't find the direct link to download the MP3s.

In other news, anyone going to Forest Lawn on June 25th? I heard they might be

allowing fans close to MJ. Anyone know for sure what is going on?

Randy Jackson tells X17online exclusively:

"I just had a meeting with Forest Lawn and beginning on June 25, the anniversary of my brother's death, fans will be able to go right up to the mausoleum and drop off flowers and pay their respects. Michael loved his fans, and the family wants to make sure that the fans are able to celebrate his incredible life."

At the 1-year anniversary memorial on June 25, Randy tells X17online that his sister Janet, Michael's three children and mom, Katherine will be there. Also attending ... Lisa Marie Presley who last month inspired a flower shop to deliver thousands of sunflowers to Forest Lawn in memory of Jackson.

Randy needs to STFU. Someone from MJFC rang Forest Lawn personally and nothing has changed. Fans will NOT be allowed access.

Any notice silly little changes on the "bad" remaster? Like no breathing on the intro to "Smooth criminal"? And the slightly early fade out on "Dirty Diana"? Nothing major, just a little odd. Also, where did Frank Dileo's ponytail come from LOL. I love that picture (a pastiche of Hitchcock of course). I can't find my original CD at the moment, but Iam pretty sure Frank did not have a ponytail LOL.

They used slightly different mixes on the later editions, similar to what they did with Off The Wall
