People are pressed because she's that chick, bottomline. And they can stay pressed, as far as I'm concerned.
I don't think it's anything to get too upset about though coming from this particular board. The people here don't seem to like anybody, including Prince. And it's supposed to be his board. "I pride myself on working with great musicians, and I consider her to be as such. She's an amazing talent, the real deal." Prince on Beyoncé ♥

1. She wastes her talent on mediocre songs 2. She takes songwriters' credit 3. She and her father have no scruples 4. She's overexposed 5. She can't act, no matter how hard she tries 6. She's a poor man's Tina Turner Pretty much sums up what I've seen on the board. Personally, I think something is wrong when the defining moment of her career consists of her dancing to a Bob Fosse routine move for move in a black leotard and an MJ lookalike glove, singing about Single Ladies (if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it??) I've seen better. Much better. This "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

And, personally, I'll never comprehend the whole "she's overexposed" excuse. Ahh poor Alej....what are we gonna do with you? She doesn't have anything that all the female performers before her didn't have. She can (over)sing and dance so I can see why people like her though, but for me she's just an entertainer for people too young to know any better; I don't see any artistry there.

I remember reading somewhere, that some dude called Beyonce a corn-fed hen with bad weave and sold out to white people. Hmmm. How does one "sell out" to white people or black people, musically? I guess, maybe, if one categorizes music in general as white music or black music then it's possible to "sell out". If one sees music as having no color then it does not make sense. That would be me. Harlepolis said: leecappella said: For the record, I don't hate Beyonce, Harlepolis. If she's a singer/actress and that's her job and she wants to work as much as she does, I say let her. I always like to bring it back home by saying if one of us was Beyonce and we worked it a lot and was in the spotlight as much as some are saying she is and we loved what we did (or even if we didn't), wouldn't we want to be allowed to do what we do: sing/act? Let Beyonce be Beyonce. I'm sure some people here are not into her music as much as others, but that can be said about a lot of singers. She sings from her heart to some and not so much to others. We hear what we hear and like who we like, but I guess it's always interesting to read the thoughts in other people's heads.
I already voiced my opinion about her singing, and she can keep doing the same dumb shit she's doing now for all I care thank god for options. But again, she's NOT an actress any more than Angela Bassett is NOT a singer Yes, thank God for options. Unfortunately, if someone gets an acting job, they are considered an actor/actress on some level, whether good or bad. At least, that's the way some folks think.

I hate that yodeling that became popular in the late 80ies/early 90ies that she and a thousand other r'n'b acts are doing. It's supposed to sound soulful, but it has no soul at all. I hate it with a passion.

And another thing...
It really pisses me off that people like Beyonce insist on calling their style of music "R&B" it's not. The music that Ray Charles used 2 play is "R&B", it's blues with rhythm. What these muppets are playing is "Hip hop soul" or "Crap" depending on Ur point of view.

I don't know about others it's about the music for me.
1) First of all she's the queen of commercial R&B at a time when commercial R&B is crap. So she symbolizes all that is wrong with commercial R&B today 2) I did like most of Destiny's Child singles (although I stop being a fan when I bought 'The Writing's On The Wall' album, there was nothing good besides the singles in there). I also enjoyed the singles from her first 2 albums although I would say she only has 3 songs which are above just OK 'Work It Out', 'Crazy In Love' and 'Deja-Vu'. Around the time of 'Irreplaceable' I became sick of her being everywhere with that crap song. And since then she kept being everywhere with different crap songs. I seriously consider 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Telephone' the only good songs she did since the Shakira duet. 3) She keeps on duetting singers which I like which to me is a turn-off. I loved Shakira but seeing her trying to be Beyonce after their duet was a turn-off. I hope the same won't happen to Gaga And yes I do believe she is talented, is a good dancer, has a good voice etc. But she is much like Mariah Carey in the mid/late '90s... she doesn't have personality, she lacks good material, she is way too mainstream and risk-averse and she is everywhere. That's about it

it's tiresome 2 - her annoying whiny nasal piercing 'singing' style [Edited 4/17/10 13:32pm]

it's tiresome the way you put it sounds offensive, but if you break it down... i mean, yeah I actually agree. the content of her songs are mostly plain dumb. like... dumber than dumb. it has been a successful formula but a lot of her singles don't appeal to me. even a topic like "independent women" (destiny's child) gets dumbed down with broken english and repetitive hooks

She's controlled by daddy and Jay-Z
She can act. But I doubt an actress for real. Music or acting? Jay-Z or daddy?. She cannot handle Rianna's presence buwahahaha! There are some songs she is good at. I find that listening to some tracks that she is practically screaming to get her voice up there. Bey cannot hold a candle to Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. I liked Destiny's Child Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |
