That's what I'm wondering. I can't see the video but if she's talking about someone being pop, she is the last person that needs to be talking.

Interesting she mentions Madonna but not Janet... anyway I think she looks fantastic and I love the way she talks however I find kind of weird that she acts as if the last 10 years didn't happen

Whitney was around a bit before Janet hit really big. And Janet came out just with a black jacket and pants that hid her big ol' butt at the time. Whitney, MJ, Prince, and Madonna had already been out and made musical and fashion statements.

Why dwell on the past 10 years? She has a broken marriage, a time of doing drugs, and a rough life (self-imposed of course). Why does she need to harp on that? Why do we always want something new from our artists, but insist and keeping them in the past? It's hypocritical.

She's obviously being interviewed about her music, her album, her career (read: not personal life), and an upcoming tour. This isn't a Diane Sawyer follow up.

Whitney Houston VS. Lady Gaga (AKA The Chocolate Valley Girl VS. The Mascot Of The Illuminati)

Yeah right, I like the see a war of words & musical rivalry like THAT^ happen. Deep down, Whitney must be regretting never to have done more uptempo dance tracks like So Emotional.

See, that's what happens with you allow Clive Davis to hired producers for you.

But also, Whitney's ex-husband Bobby Brown confirm in his autobiography that he did try to cheat on Whitney with Janet behind her back. As much as Whitney always respected Michael as a musical talent, she still show hints of resentment with Janet.

Whitney should have kept to her gut reaction to Bobby. Remember, it took him a LONG time to try and woo her and get her attention and her interest. She should have totally just told him to F off.

That's so right. With her beautiful self, and all the men in the world, I STILL can't believe she got caught up and stuck with Bobby Brown. disbelief

You really believe this? If this were true. Whitney would dog Janet like no other.

Anyways, Whitney is so stuck up confused

She mentioned how Lady GaGa certain artists parade around in these dark and exaggerated outfits, trying to gain attention.

nod

But that's not what I meant... I was not expecting her to talk about her past 10 years... but I was expecting her to at least be aware that her singing is not the best in the world anymore and not to go the 'people come to me to hear me sing' route (I don't remember exactly the words she used) and to be aware that she did much worse than singers who are wearing depressing/disturbing/sexual costumes (once again I don't remember how exactly she said it) and not criticising them knowing now that in life you can make serious mistakes... that's all I meant. Once again I am not a hater or something, I love her and the style she talks just she doesn't seem to realise that this is not 1995

Whitney got where she is now because of her voice. For her to belittle herself during an interview and talk about how her voice has "changed" is quite silly in my opinion.

She doesn't have to talk about it, just not overstate her vocal abilities...

I don't think so, Janet's debut was 1982 hmmm

Anyway, she hasn't said anything differently than we did here,,,,she's just emphasizing the fact that nowadays the industy is more IMAGE driven than just "plain music"(80s was image driven too, but it didn't overshadow an individual's talent).

Why you guys act so brand new? shrug She's echoing EVERY poster in this thread who voiced her/his frustration about the lack of genuine talent today.

It isn't, and SINGING will never be passe lol contrary to the popular belief, there's a market for every Ledisi, Chrisette, Lalah Hathaway, Rahsaan Patterson and so forth, it might not be in the same vien as Lady GaGa, but its STILL a firm market.

I don't know, I actually agree with everything she said(esp when she said that folks need to be careful with what they release, and cut all the morbid shit esp when folks need to be lifted up during these crazy times).

However, I DO agree with you that her present singing ability shouldn't be overstated,,,other than that, I think the girl is preaching to the choir(even if some of the choir members didn't like the source lol).

1. That is true. Janet's debut as an artist in 1982. But Janet didn't go massive crossover until 1986, Control-era. Whitney's self-titled debut album was before that.

2. I've was raising my eyebrows when Whitney was criticizing Lady Gaga without even mentioning the woman's name. I don't think that was a good idea, especially if Gaga's music can make people dance and Whitney's music can NOT (apart from So Emotional & I Wanna Dance With Somebody).

Whitney was asked about costumes during the 80's. Janet came with Control just a year or so after the really outlandish stuff of the early to mid 80's. Ergo, my earlier reply.

I think my statement was completely misunderstood. I meant this is not 1995 when Whitney had one of the Top voices in the industry and no scandals at all so she could afford being above all others and preach

OH please, Tony lol

I can't sing a LICK but I damn well would talk BIG SHIT if I didn't like a certain type of music, believe that. I don't think Whitney should be excluded from speaking her mind just because she's in the same profession as the folks she talked about.

I think Nippy is stuck in a "damn if she did, damn if she didn't" thing with you guys. It doesn't make a difference whether she mentioned the broad, or talked vaguely,,,,the point here is not about LADY GAGA personally, its about the MUSIC industry's whole obsession with "catwalks" while putting "music" in the backseat.

And YOU Tony lol did ALL but crucify the GaGa bitch so I don't know whats with the different tune now.
