You guys act like Nippy was an all of a sudden phenomenon hmm

Shit, she ain't nothing but an 80s extention to Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, Freda Payne, Diahann Carroll, Barbara McNair and all of "puffed nightclub dames" with an R&B twist to it.

Talkin' all that shit about "R&B radio would never be the same". Fuck outta here, Tony razz lol

No, you get out of here making up excuse for that chocolate valley girl.

And then you going to compare Whitney Houston's story to Lena Horne's story. omg

Excuse you, rolleyes but I do NOT recalled anywhere in American Music History where Lena Horne records were being played on the same exact radio rotation as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, OR even freaking Elvis. Why? Because record executives AND radio DJs knew good and well not to put two different kinds of artists from two different genres with two exact opposites of music tempo on the same radio format.

That's like playing The Carpenters on the SAME rotation as Black Sabbath.

Just saying.
lol

Of course! nod They're aunt & niece.

But would anyone make the mistake of playing a Dionne track within the same rotation as KC & The Sunshine Band? I don't think so.

Whitney should have kept to her gut reaction to Bobby. Remember, it took him a LONG time to try and woo her and get her attention and her interest. She should have totally just told him to F off.

That's so right. With her beautiful self, and all the men in the world, I STILL can't believe she got caught up and stuck with Bobby Brown. disbelief

rolleyes Ya'll are FUNNY and wrong. Whitney pursued Bobby after seing him at the Soul Train Awards. She has said so many times even in the recent Oprah interview if I recall. Her being defiled by big, bad Bobby is the spin folks like to put on that shit to cover up the fact that Whitney was and always will be quite hood.

That's because monopolies are running radio now. I don't know why they don't play her though. I mean, their music is dull, her music is dull. Hell, she'd fit right in.

I tell ya, radio is just ass backwards. They played her ass on funk radio where she was totally inappropriate but won't play her on shit hop radio where she's just as slow and dull as they are. Hell, they need to play her on shit hop radio so maybe she can drive it out of style like she did with funk. Even though she's dull as hell, she still isn't as dull as shit hop and at least she has talent. lol
