Not with radio, not now...

But in 2006 with 20 YO, she could have. As I said, her time has passed, and her chances r up. The mistakes have already been made. sad

... she can just keep releasing music and touring regularly for her fans now. Nobody really sells anything these days anyway...

If she can't now, how could she in 2006? Lets be reasonable. In 2006, Janet had top-notch promotion from Virgin but not through radio because they know radio wouldn't play her. So they utitlized the media of publication. She was on every magazine cover imaginable. "Call on Me" was a hit on Urban radio and did well. Pop radio isn't accepting so I don't think she can garner that audience again. Janet's time has not passed. She's still doing her thing. Janet obviously doesn't give a fuck about impressing listeners our whatever so shrug

Ummm... yes, her time has passed. Everyone's time passes (except the Beatles). She's had her time in the sun, is what I'm syain...

Now, girls like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Rihanna r enjoying their time in the sun...

Janet was never gonna be a top pop star 4eva. She's in her 40s and was successful in music since her late teens... there's nothin wrong with her time passin... she can continue to make music for her fanbase and tour successfullt, but YES, her time on top has been over for a while now....

just because she can pass for white doesn't make her any less black than those who can't...

She's just as black as the Mawry twins, Halle Berry, Raven Symone, and other biracial celebs that look blacker than her.

your quote.

"They're not going to play a 43 year old, black, female pop star on Clear Channel radio besides those Classic R&B stations (smaller audience) every once in awhile."

mariah is black, 40, female, and gets played outside of the classic r&b

so then it is nothing to do with her being black, over, 40, or female, it's because of the superbowl backlash.

fair enough. i just clarification of the point you were trying to make.

She's not black. At least, The media doesn't identify her as one. She can continue to run around wearing her 5 year old princess outfits, gain and lose weight round the clock, flop and drop off the charts. People won't say shit.

Timmy, you are soo using the wrong flavor of kool-aid up in the pitcher. Jody Watley (ooops, I mean Foster) did play a rape victim (and ho...well, an alleged ho) in The Accused *and* won her first Oscar and it was Jessica Lang who starred alongside Halle in Losing Isiah.

Losing Isiah is one of my fav films..gets me crying every-time and Glenn Close is my all time fav actresses of all time. Oh oh oh oh, and my fav movie of all time is Eve's Bayou, the original black indie hit (before Precious) that won all sorts of damn awards except for a single damn Oscar nomination. Debbie Morgan was robbed cause she gave the best performance of the year, period. Male, female, featured or supporting role.

Now, was that racism? No, I'd say, at the time, there wasn't a black voting block like there is now. And now, we see every year black actors getting recognized for diverse roles. All the b*tching about Monique's performance is always sans the mention that Morgan Freeman was nominated for playing a practical saint.

*AND* that black voting block is now extending to non-acting nominations too. If you look at the nominee lunch photos from the past ten years you see a bunch f white people. You look at last year and this year and you see major progress. So much so that this year an African American became the first to win a screenplay writing. Progress is coming but sadly it's not coming fast enough for some...and some refuse to even acknowledge the progress being made.

if she'd keep that man of hers out of her career and bring jam and lewis back for a full album, she probably would get a comeback

"That man of her's" produced 2 of the best selling albums around the time Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. was released. Not saying his crap production would help her. You would think they would like her music more .... I guess. Jam & Lewis were in the picture since 2007. People need to let that shit go. They've been with Janet on all her albums but one. I can admit that I'm not hoping for this huge ass comeback from Janet that the media seems to play up ( you know they love a comeback story). I don't see it happening. I just don't appreicate this sleepyq person contradicting himself. Stick to one story.
