So why believe HYPE, sorry folks but if you believe HYPE on any artist now, you are the fool not the person. Everyone has a machine working for them now, everyone is fucking cryptic in their talk and thinks their the shit and alot tend to believe it. But you know what, if this kind of media existed in the 80's we would be posted the same shit about Prince, and dont say he wouldnt be preaching 24/7 if that was the way back then and it was a way to sell a record because he would and so would have many others. I dont get the whole Alicia shit on the forum, where is she saying "im the shit" i mean if thats the vibe you get, then ignore her, if someone can point out her saying the words "im the shit" or saying she is BETTER than others please point it out, i tend to hear that talk from alot of others that we bow down to on this forum and never talk about their "Vibes". If you dont dig her sound, then press skip and move on to the next new release, i mean this cycle everyone is feeling is played the fuck out already. To me she has gotten better since album one, i hated that fucking thing and still do. So it is what it is, but if you have had this vibe about her for awhile then why bother watching or listening to her? I mean to me I hate Whitney Houston as a person and think she is a straight up ego maniac and sounds that way when she talks, i always feel like she is talking down to her audience, so guess what, i turn her off and move on.

As for the "charity" talk, i dont doubt Alicia getting calls all the time to do things, i mean i watched a Bon Jovi Documentary and Jon was saying he gets 20-30 a week asking for time/money/shows/speeches, so dont doubt it

I think she's talented and she is someone I really want to like, but for some reason I just can't get into it. I think I like one or two songs, but never enough to buy an album.

All I know is that her new music isn't doing much for me. I loved her first two albums and liked the third one. But not really into what she's doing now. It seems as though Alicia isn't really growing as an artist.

As for her being arrogant, I don't think what she said on "The View" was that bad. I've heard worse and maybe people do come up to her and ask how they can be apart of the charitable organization she supports. I really don't see that as her being arrogant. Alicia's personality doesn't really bother me.

She does seem to be kind of annoying now.

1. Her speaking voice/accent/speech patterns come off VERY affected as fake urban/new york/black etc. It's not consistent and I think she affects it to "gain street cred".


2. I'm not a huge India Arie fan but it was unfair how Alicia got EVERY single Grammy that year they both started. Her album wasn't THAT good.

3. I know she learned piano by the Suzuki method so I'm sure she can play (and I don't agree with whoever said ANYONE can be taught) . .. but does she actually PLAY in cocnert?

At the AMA's with Jay Z there were like 10 people at the piano playing the same part as she was supposed to be playing. On lots of TV shows seh starts at the piano but always moves away from it yet her part keeps going. The worst was some TV show last year where she moved downstage to a synth and she "fake-played" it for like 10 seconds.


4. What did Rick James say about her? I'd love to read it!

5. Doesn't she rip off other songs when she "writes" them? Someone one here once posted a directory showing each of her songs and what old song it ripped off.
