I don't know about that yet, lol. The terms "genius" and "legend" aren't really applicable in my opinion until the artist does something(s) extraordinary and has been excelling in the business for at least 20 years or more. Unless....wait a minute, you're being facetious, aren't you? lol

No, she's not.

Doesn't matter if she writes her own stuff, she's a very reliable, if not quite spectacular entertainer. The hate for here on this site is beyond overkill.

Yes!

Fuck, you think Beyonce is so overrated and you want her to disappear GO TELL HER, we ain't Beyonce, we don't want to hear this shit. lol

Oh my ckufing WORD! Out of all the wack ass "I had a sandwich today" threads in this forum, no one wants to hear that Beyonce is played too much. That's really what you're going with? I didn't say I was burning Sasha Fierce memorabilia, and I'm certainly not forming a god damn lynch mob to take her down. You people are mighty defensive, you would think I insulted you. At the most, I insulted your taste.
Maybe the thread should have been called "Everybody I Wanna Kiss Beyonce's Ass For An Entire thread" and watched it not get a single reply because that's a bullshit waste of time and not even a topic worth discussing. Mind you, I'm not even taking it where some people are with the "skank" references and what have you. But you loyalists would rather I magically catch Beyonce on a down day, strolling through Greenbelt; tap her on the shoulder and say, "Could you go away for a minute?" WTF type of BS is that?
I will not apologize for thinking the girl gets 5 days of press for an hour's work. Her "image" is so necessary to protect but she's not a damn dignitary. And I don't want to start any rumors, but I heard HER SHIT STINKS TOO! I'm not attacking her character, I'm not saying she worships Satan, I'm saying what is commonly expressed and misdiagnosed as "hatred" by the folks partial to blinders. Thank God this thread wasn't about Michael Jackson, or someone would have taken it upon themselves to seek vengeance. As ridiculous as some of these arguments have been, I did see valid points on both sides. Maybe the next thread from me will be about how "smooth jazz ain't got shit on ragtime". And let's see if you same people run out with torches lit... WHICH YOU WON'T. This was fun-esque, lol.

GangstaCru, you have a right to express your opinion as we all do still, you shouldn't get your nose out of joint because others offer an opposing view. smile

'Beyonce is Overrated'

I've never really heard anyone give Ms. Knowles accolades for her singing, acting nor songwriter skills, though she's been very successful. Maybe we are confusing a successful music/entertainment career with being gifted or talented artist/singer, I think you can have the former without the latter. So, if you are saying she doesn't deserve her success because she's a marginal talent at best, OK. Ms. Knowles isn't the first decent/ok singer who's eclipsed more talented artist. She's a "glamor girl", very attractive, photogenic, to some possess sex appeal, and can sing in key with a decent/rang/voice. Call me Ms. Ross, Cher, Janet Jackson and Madonna come to mind when I think of "glamor girls"... possessing varying degrees of talent respectively. These women have found a way to "work it" and I ain't mad at them.

The thing about Beyonce is, she's a great performer and singer, but I would never call her a legend. She hasn't did anything that's going to be talked about for years and years to come.

Yeah I agree. Earlier in the decade, I used to say she would become a legend, and has the chops to do so, but when I heard her shit hop route, I was disappointed she was wasting her talent on throwaway songs instead of producing classics. I liked crazy in love and naughty girl from her first album, but I was very disappointed with it, cause I thought she would go with a sound like Work It Out.

Her second and third album have some really decent tracks, especially the ballads and some of the dance tunes. And the videos were well done. But I find that though I liked B'Day a lot in 2007, it doesn't have the classic feel except for a few songs. On her current album, I love the ballads, but only some of the fast songs. I think video phone and diva are garbage.

Wow, alrighty then! Just had to make sure you weren't joking, lol. But I agree, Beyonce really is a fantastic performer. nod Maybe she will become labeled as a "genius" one day. She has to do something never seen before. Might happen.

Exactly. I never keep the channel on something annoying or something I don't like. lol

So I can't even say I don't like Beyonce because I never had that problem with her.

Indeed nod You can't even watch a music awards show these days without seeing Beyonce there. She even appeared on the latin music awards show a few years ago! Pretty soon, she will do a country song and try to conquer that market too lol She'll get Brad Paisley to duet with her.

over exposed maybe but Beyonce is pretty and she CAN sing. which is a combo that most sings don't have (looks and vocals)

Aaliyah who I also found very pretty (naturally prettier than Beyonce imo)only had a so-so average voice

not a Beyonce fan but Hey if you got it use it while you can it's not going to last forever.By the time I have grandkids and they turn around 15-16 they will probably have no idea who Beyonce was.

It's not hard but as someone previously said, when watching something simple as an awards show and she's there or visiting your favorite blog and there's a story on her is annoying as hell. I'm saying that it's not as easy as turing off the radio or tv.
