Rihanna's album is really good. I personally think she's a great artist.

Its just very cliche, its way overproduced, its got the rock song with the token rocker "Slash" dont any RB producers know anyone other than Slash? (those of you who think Bon Jovi uses cliches, listen to this album for more) The whole angle of the album is now im gonna be dark and mysterious, its almost disturbing selling the image now, because something that was serious "a felony beating" is now almost a tool in the labels marketing. Listening to this album i still cant even say she is an artist at this point, the indentity of her is so put together from a board room, you can almost see the puzzle pieces in her face and body.

I swear the org has a three second memory span. She was already going darker with Disturbia, way before the assault occurred.

Just because her image is darker doesn't necessarily mean she's cashing in on what happened to her. To me, that's people attaching the meaning they want onto her work, which is stupid.

However you are a bit misinformed about the album too...the image, first single and album artwork all have dark imagry included on the album is "Mad House" and there is nothing 'mad' or really 'dark' about this album. If anything it seem like it was put together and whoever was supposed to put this album together in proper order to make it FLOW well failed. The album is schizo, sometimes forced and a bit cliche. I hope to god Rude Boy becomes a single to save it.

Wow it looks like it might not even make the top three as Susan Boyle is headed for number one, gaga is not far behind and Billboard is reporting Adam Lambert is selling much more than expected well Rihanna's sales are disappointing. I wonder what this'll mean for her career as Russian Roulette has already fallen from the top ten and Hard had a weak debut with #80.

Early sales data indicate 'Rated R' could land in the 180-200,000 range its first week.

OUCH! Lambert is projected for 250,000
Gaga is slightly over 350,000
and Susan Boyle is projected to surpass 500,000
poor Rihanna,I think she should have taken a longer break from the industry, I think the girl needs to put her head on straight.

Actually, the projected sales figures are consistent with her last album, "Good Girl Gone Bad", which sold 168K copies when it debuted in 2007. The album eventually achieved double-platinum status.

but then she was still an underdog with a couple hits, but not a megastar yet, that's what GGGB did, she should be able to open much stronger after having enormous hits like Disturbia, Umbrella, PDSTM and Take a bow. The reason it opened like that before is because she had a growing hit with Umbrella and a small fanbase. The reason its opening the same is because she has no real hit and a split fanbase.

Rihanna's CDs always seem to do well over the long haul and she does especially well overseas. She never has great first week sales, for some reason, even with a huge hit like "Umbrella". As long as this CD opens with better or comparable numbers to Good Girl Gone Bad, she'll be fine. L.A. Reid said he gave her hit after hit and she rejected them (per Fuse interview) She executive produced this CD and it means something to her personally. I guess after all she's been through, the record company felt she was owed as much.

If she came out with Good Girl Gone Bad IItype singles and it pulled in lower numbers, I could see why people would call it a failure. But this project seems almost designed to repulse, everything about it is harsh (have you seen the back cover? Is she saying essentially, "kiss my ass?)

Just as "Irreplaceable" changed the perceptive of "B Day" and "Beautiful" helped "Stripped," I think "Fire Bomb" will help "Rated R." If they had picked that as the first single, it would be a whole different story. I applaud her for making this CD regardless.

This interview with Angie Martinez is a classic. She talks DEVIL WORSHIPING, Drake (not very convincingly) her nude pics, CB's friend trash talkin on twitter etc. Hot. http://lavishlane.com/200...interview/
