Rihanna going to be doing better than chris brown i'm sure

Of course she will because everyone is on "her side"
.

Well, maybe. I'm not though. Just look at her overall attitude, this song, and that horrid new cover. disbelief I'm not on Chris Brown's side either, 'cause he's extremely ignorant, but I actually expect him to receive better reviews for some reason.

Nervous for HER? What about the youths' minds she's poisoning with this bullshit? She only knows that if she wants to keep getting paid, all she has to do is what she is told.
This chick can't sing. She can't dance. She has 0 personality.
All she seems to be is a living haircut; a walking mannequin with an accent.
Stylists dress her and she is paraded around on stage like a trophy without really doing much of anything. Her voice is crap. Her looks are carrying her career...correction, her IMAGE built by Def Jam is carrying her career.

I doubt she'll perform "Russian Roulette". She'll most likely perform "The Wait is Ova"
That's a real song? I thought that was just a little promo bit or something. If she's bold enough to put out a song like "Russian Roulette," she ought to be bold enough to perform it as her first single.

That quote from Ne-yo made it sound like she was going to let it all hang out and really do it bold. I want to see her own it, I guess. Enough with the guessing games and silence. Because to me it sounds like with this song she's saying "I'm in a dangerous situation and I rather enjoy it! If it kills me, what's it to you?" I'm curious to know if that will be the theme of the CD.

Boring. Same as any of her other songs. I just can´t get into her. I don´t feel her at all. There´s no emotion in her music.

If you stand in my driveway, right where it meets the edge of the street (on the letter box side); and then walk exactly four paces straight ahead, you will reach a square foot of tarmac that, on first inspection, seems no different to any other part of the street. However if you take the time to examine it a little more closely, you'll notice there is a slight discolouration. Maybe the result of oil from a car? Or, maybe it was present at the street's creation. Who knows?

The point is, this slightly discoloured square foot of tarmac is infinitely more interesting, and has boundless personality when compared to the manufactured cookie cutter types like Rhianna, whose creativity stems from a massive network of sylists, marketers & researchers. I doubt she actually exists.

Yeah "The Wait Is Ova" is an actual song. If she does perform RR live at the AMA's, it'll be almost reminiscent to Janet performing "What About" during the fashion awards. People were expecting Janet to perform something else from the album, but she flipped it when she did that song.

She's basically the younger, black version of Britney Spears to me (which is initially what Def Jam wanted to market her as from what I've heard) and we all know that Britney has made quite a career off of being just an image with a good soundtrack regardless of how much credit many people like to give her. Not to mention all the little girls who used to worship her and dress like her while singing those sugar-coated sex lyrics which I found to be extremely disturbing and made me want to slap the dog mess out of these children's parents for crucifying artists like Marilyn Manson for doing less to morally destroy their innocent kids than Ms. Spears was doing in heavy rotation on MTV and the radio at the exact same time.

As much as it irritates and disgusts me to an extent, the world is full of 'sheeple' (young and old) who seem to buy music more with their eyes than with their ears at times. Personally, I care more about what I hear than what I see and in reality most of these female artists nowadays seem to rely heavily on image and good producers and songwriters to make them relevant and I don't think that's praisworthy, empowering, or even remotely inspiring at all, but that's just my own personal opinion. At the end of the day, if the music sounds good; it sounds good. Honestly, almost anyone who isn't tone deaf and can carry a tune can sing a Britney or Rihanna song just as good as they can so I give 90% of the credit to the people who actually 'make' the music and that's really not either of these two chicks when you read those liner notes in their CD booklets. Rihanna Drafts Eriksen For Second Single
October 26

After making a triumphant return with "Russian Roulette," Rihanna reportedly has her eyes set on an uptempo follow up.

Drafting noted producer Mikkel Eriksen, Rihanna has selected "The Wait Is Ova" as the second single to be released from "Rated R".

According to Eriksen, speaking with Adressa, "The Wait Is Ova" will be released before the anticipated release of Rihanna's new album.

"It will launch in a few weeks - before the album release. It means a lot to us to join a single release in this format," said Eriksen.

As previously reported, Rihanna's anticipated follow up to the mega hit album "Good Girl Gone Bad," titled "Rated R," will be released November 23 via Def Jam.

I always find it very interesting how Pop Stars fade from the spotlight. Growing up My first experience with this was Jessica Simpson. I remember from about 03-05 she was EVERYWHERE one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. Then she divorced nick and everything seemed to go downhill from there. She's still in the music industry, I think, but now no one ever talks about her. It was interesting to see the rise and downfall play out right in front of my eyes.

Assuming you're one of the like-minded people who DO believe Rihanna's fifteen minutes in the spotlight are soon coming to a close in the near future, what do you think will happen to her? Personally I can't really think how she'll stay viable in the entertainment industry, she can't act(she's worst then Beyonce & Jessica Simpson put together) she can't sing at all(and I imagine once her star fades the top notch producers and songwriters who cover that up will stop close their doors to her), she can't dance. The only thing I can probably see her doing is modeling, can she walk?

Jessica was big in 2000/2001 then a little bit popular again in 2003. By 2004, she was done.

I would certainly NOT say she was one of the biggest stars on the planet, she was always C list at the most. Her sales were nothing to get excited over.

Rihanna's already been steadily popular for 4 years now, she had the biggest single of 2007 (J Simp never had any biggest single), Good Girl Gone Bad was critically acclaimed, her tour did very well, she's had 6 US number ones already, she's garnering lots of attention in the fashion industry - it's weird how the Org seems to be talking constantly of her fading when she's actually still on the rise. The org just loooves writing modern music stars off.

Maybe Jessica Simpson isn't the best comparison...

Let's try Paula Abdul and Jennifer Lopez, who were the IT-girls for 4 years+ before their music careers went six-feet-under.

It's only a matter of time. She's already overexposing her limited appeal by insisting on wearing inane, irrational outfits for no reason and getting her picture taken. She's 100% image, and people will inevitably tire of that. The level of talent will ALWAYS determine longevity, and she is *lucky* to have gotten this far. Mark my words.

Oh, and how is Rihanna getting "attention in the fashion industry?" She's been in one, maybe two fashion magazines as a focus.

Lol, for someone who hates Britney, I really can't go into a thread without seeing you talking about her somehow. lol

I can't hate Britney because I don't know her personally and she had enough self-hate at one point that she doesn't need any help in that department. However, I do hate her constant use of over-sexed imagery and lack of actual musical input into the albums that she puts her name all over and gets praise for. In all honesty, I can neither praise or blame her if her songs hit number 1 or flop because she doesn't write or produce any of her released singles, except for that one song when she was pregnant that I actually thought was a very nice song. I usually blame those who actually make them...still having a hard time forgiving Keri Hilson for writing 'Gimme More' disbelief

Honestly, I was hoping that Britney would continued down that path after that song, but instead she went back to relying on the sex-kitten persona. I love Mariah and Janet, but I absolutely hate the sexed-up image nonsense that they insist on doing soo much. If I don't like my favorite artists doing it, why should I feel any differently about an artist that I'm not fond of doing it? I don't do double standards. Trust me, she's not the only artist who does this (female or male) and I have a problem with it from all of them because it's like watching an over-paid stripper or a porn star with a record deal most of the time. People want to crucify those individuals but praise recording artists who seem to be doing almost the exact same things image-wise. If one's not okay, than none should be okay. Double standards don't fly with me, sorry.

That first line in my post says it all and I was responding to BlaqueKnight's definition of Rhianna which is exactly my definition of Britney, but hey, they're both selling millions of albums with these schticks so more power to them on their hustles. Their hustles don't work on me, but they obviously work on millions of other people who again like to buy music with their eyes more than their ears. All just my personal opinion which I'm entitled to in the end.

Any artist who sells sexual imagery to kids is a problem for me. If a large majority of your core listening audience has to have a parent accompany them to your concerts, than it's time to re-think your image IMO. Unfortunately, most people over the age of 15 know how to get music without paying for it, so that's why many artists seem to want to cater to the younger sect I guess. All just my twocents

Actuall the older crowd are the ones that BUY IT STILL, the younger crowd steals it. Barbara Streisand and Manilow and Whitney and Kiss have been proving this, Kids dont buy music they steal it.

I don't know, really, but something about her or her image makes me uneasy. After I listened to song and looked at the artwork for her CD I just thought....yikes. I'll listen to what she has to say in this interview before I decide how I feel about her, though.

okay i gotcho. makes sense
