Lady GaGa Princess of Pop??

I knew Dance Music was big but no artist has ever gotten play like this one. Lady Gaga is being treated royally. SHe not only performed at The Mtv VMAs(US)
she also got awarded. I don't know how big her tour is but she's getting treated like Gwen,Pink,Christinna, and Brittney.

So I want to know will GaGa be the next reigning Princess Of Pop or will she even overtake the queen and throw Madonna off the throne?
Working up a purple sweat.

Love the Gaga but none of the gals mentioned can ever overthrow Madonna, as she's been there/done that, paved the way for Pop Princesses and is way ahead. Madonna can afford at this point, to just release stuff to fulfill her ginormous ego without having to worry about breaking new ground. The others can only follow up at this point.

At first I thought she was aphase like the SPICE GIRLS Phenomenon, remember that? Well, she has proved me wrong. She now has 4 hit singles from her debut album, she writes almost all her own material and I now look at her as a huge star on the rise.

When I look at Gaga, I have to go back to 1983... Remember CYNDI LAUPER?
She was wild and crazy and people thought she was a phase, however her debut album "She's So Unusual" also launched several singles. The folow up album "TRUE COLORS" did the same. And where is CYNDI LAUPER today???

She is still out there. in fact, I saw the skit with Tracey morgan and Eminem and who were they singing?... CYNDI LAUPER
The skit had a part 2 version with CYNDI LAUPER actually in it singing with Tracey.

I dont know, CYNDI LAUPER has proven herself time and time again.
Could it be possible that LADY GAGA is following the footsteps of CYNDI LAUPER?

Also, As much as I HATE Perez Hilton, he did have alot to do with her success.

Anyhow, thats my take on LADY GAGA

Cyndi's music meant something, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was both a fun dance around pop song and a meaningful expository on repression against women. True Colours was a timeless ballad filled with emotion.

What the fuck has Lady Gaga written worth listening to?

"Russian roulette is no fun without a gun"?
"Yes, I'm educated in sex"
"Just dance gonna be ok dadadoodoo"

So what if she had four singles? You realise how easy it is for anyone to be successful these days? Even Soulja Boy has released more songs! Lil Wayne can sell a million for no good reason!

Gaga's success means nothing, she's just the latest glorified alternative to the usual pop stars. There's no way in hell she'll still be popular in ten years.

Case in point, anyone discovered by Fathead Hilton is cool for 10 seconds then they nosedive straight into obscurity since he judges people's "talent" by whether they kiss his ass or not.

What? I dont know how big the Spice Girls were in the US but Lady GaGa has nowhere near reached Spice Girl Phenomenom on worldwide level. I'm no fan anymore but people are seriously downplaying how big they were at that time

And your hero Beyonce has deep lyrics? Please!

Quote me where I said any other popular artist today has deep(er) lyrics. At the very least, Beyonce has some great girl power anthems. Gaga's too busy hanging herself and wearing attention seeking monstrosities on her head to care about her shallow excuse for "music".

Great girl power anthems? Please. Splicing it in between songs demanding that her man pay her "bills bills bills" and promoting infidelity in "Jumpin' Jumpin'"? She's as hypocritical as they come. Beyonce is the musical equivalent of an over-zealous dog humping your leg. I'm not a Lady Gaga fan per se, but at least the synthesis of her music and image is memorable and won't leave dried up dog-cum on your leg.

I don't know much about her, but I can say, I was compelled by her performance, it was one of the few performances on the VMA's that felt less like someone standing on a stage doing nothing and an actual story going on.

it's funny to see how many people don't like her and for what reasons.
pop music needed someone like her, badly.

i think she's fun. she's different, in a good way.

it also amazes me how many people like boring middle of the road shit
and when someone who does things differently comes along all you guys
have to say is:

"copy cat. it's all been done before. it's so fake" blahblah

but when i look at her i see someone who's doing what she likes to do,
and not someone who's being weird just to be weird. there are people
who actually enjoy being different, not because it rubs people but just
because they love 'different' stuff.

if i were in her shoes i would do the same damn thing and enjoy it all
the way. just think of how boring it must be to have a nice clean and
wholesome image and be on stage night after night just standing there
in your best outfit singing a song.

zzz

besides, how can people still be disturbed over her stage show when you
look rock n roll shows. stuff that went on in the 70s was far more wild
than this and far more shocking.

and after having prince's bare ass and a while later marylin manson's
thrust into our faces, i think gaga is doing pretty classy stuff

lol

lastly, for those dumping on the lyrics, the lyrics are just fine. it's
pop music. it's not folk or anything. and for a pop record the lyrics
are actually pretty deep. papparazi is a good lyric, a very good one as
far as social commentary goes. i consider it to be miles above prince's
recent efforts like "dear mr man" *snooze/cringe*
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Lady Ga Ga, is just a product of the industry that came along at a time, when music is looking for an answer to people like Beyonce. Ga Ga, In my opinion, relies more on theatrics than talent. Her performance at the VMA's caught my eye, not because of her voice, (she sounds terrible and her songs are like nursery rhymes), it was that performance and all that was going on, on stage. It's almost as if the record company is saying, "you know, the public does not know any better and do better with images and bad acting than people who can truly sing." To compare Ga Ga to Ms. Lauper, is an insult to Ms. Lauper. Cyndi has all around talent and has managed to adjust with the changing tide in music. Beyonce is very talented, more talented than people give her credit for. As much as I hate to admit it, she has fallen victim to what I call, the "Hanson"syndrome. Beyonce, has become over exposed. I don't know if her dad has her best interest at heart. He should thinking about longevity, rather than the here and now.

Can we stop with the Bullshit titles? I mean we are getting just like Q magazine who every month has a new "best band ever" issue, everyone from Arcade Fire to the Muse, its all HYPE that no one can live up to, not now not this early, its your first fucking record! Talk to me in 10 years when you have 6-7 albums out, and still are doing things and evolving not just repeating yourself, than u can get a title like this, not just gaga but all artists that get HYPED out the box. Its like when a new Draft Pick gets signed to a team out of college and gets 10 million before they play a pro game, get real alreayd

Jess, seriously. You get all defensive when people start hating on your monthly Britney threads. If you hate that so much, why must you click on every Gaga thread and shit all over it? You don't like her, we get it. A lot of people don't like her. No one is forcing you to do it. But is it truly - and I mean TRULY necessary for you to shit all over people's threads? shrug

I think Lady Gaga is marginally talented. Her voice is actually okay, but they autotune it anyway. She tries hard to be interesting (carrying that stupid teacup around, cmon) but it falls flat for me. Plus, her sunglasses rarely flatter her bone structure. I find that annoying. LOL I don't think her music or lyrics are interesting enough to discuss. They seem pretty generic to me.

I liked the album, but she's all about an image now. When do you hear people talk about her music anymore?

She is going to have to maintain the level of interest with the crazy clothes and performances, because other than that, she doesn't have a lot going for her as far as staying power. Her songs are forgettable and I don't think she will be around for the next 10-20 years.
