New topic PrintableOK, here's something I have ALWAYS wanted to know: The beginning of the long version of "The way you make me feel" video has what I always considered to be a straight-up Minneapolis/Prince sound to it. The first 3 minutes you can hear it in the background and ESPECIALLY from the 2:40 to 3:00 minute mark it is full throttle prince sounding! SO, does anyone know what this is or if it's an MJ song, b-side, unreleased? Maybe it IS Prince and no one has ever revealed it yet. I've always wanted to know!!! AND I freakin loved the hell out of this song and video back in the day.

What are your favorite Michael Jackson songs?
My favorite of all time is Smooth Criminal, the video and song together is my favorite over everything he did. Other favorites are: Speed Demon I Just Can't Stop Loving You Baby Be Mine Got To Be There I Wanna Be Where You Are Human Nature Dangerous Just Another Part of Me Leave Me Alone I Can't Let Her Get Away Rock My World Rock With You Workin' Day and Night Get On the Floor Don't Stop Til You Get Enough Dirty Diana Liberian Girl Remember The Time In the Closet Never Can Say Goodbye What MJ music are you listening to today in remembrance, and what songs would you recommend to others? I'm listening to the following albums in its entirety: Off The Wall Thriller Bad Dangerous Let's talk about the one thing that we can all appreciate: the music. His music has had such a great impact on the entire world. Not only that, he's one of the few artists who humbly gave to foundations and charities with no hesitation at all. He could of easily spent that money on multiple homes all over the world, but he didn't. Thats why his death brings such sorrow to me. He was so talented yet so giving. He was truly blessed. I'll always remember the poster on my wall during my childhood from the Human Nature video (when he was in the yellow and white suit). I'll always remember seeing his videos on MTV and VH1 when I was no more than 4 or 5 years old. I grew up on his music being an 80's baby. I really feel for his family, but he is finally at a resting place now where he doesn't have to worry about the media, vigorous rehearsal schedules and insecurities. He will truly be missed and cherished forever. List your Michael Jackson playlists and favorite songs here. See the answer to the first question. [Edited 6/26/09 8:10am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Happy Ben Those were the the first singles of MJ that we had when I was growing up. And I used to think how sad those songs were. But I loved them. Used to know them by heart. That and the Christmas songs-- Give Love on Christmas Day and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. We used to sing them when we go caroling in the neighborhood. Thanks for the memories Michael. RIP. Yeah, to this day there are only 2 artists' Christmas albums I listen to during the Holidays: The Temptations and The Jackson 5. One must wonder if the Jackson children, meaning Michael, Janet, Tito and the crew, ever got to celebrate Christmas as kids.....

i'm more of a jackson 5/jacksons fan than michael's solo stuff..so in rememberence and almost bringing me 2 tears at work 2day
i'm listening 2 the anthology Soulsensations 4 disc set and the jacksons essential i may not have liked the things micheal has done business practice wise and other things but one thing i can't deny is how he affected my childhood growing up with all that great music that he and his brothers and countless others have brung 2 my life. RIP now brother man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I almost broke down on the subway listening to the radio on my walkman with this MJ mix they were playing. I'm going to finish listening to Off the Wall. I Can't Help It is the next song.
Funny how Janet kind of interpolated this tune on "Can't Be Good" and "What's Your Name" last year. The Jacksons albums are what I have been listening to. I was blasting the Get It Together album loud in the car. Had all the people lookin at me in the suburbs I didnt care f* that they better get hip. Thanks for hitting me up yesterday too You welcome man. We will definately keep in touch. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's all so sudden, just cant believe whats happenned. I will always love the man, my favorite will have to be the whole Invincible album, even though its highly underated it just has a fresh sound to it. Please check my website out at www.jacksonplanet.net I think what has happened is an act of God as MJ has never owed anything to us, and he proved to the world time and time again of his geniusness (a word i think?LOL) this time GOd was like i'm openening up heavens doors for you. Step inside.
Peace and love to all of you.

I don't think I've ever posted on an MJ thread on this site. However, I feel compelled to post today. I wasn't a big fan, but I loved most of his hits and could watch his videos, early performances and concerts through the Bad tour any time. Wow, the magnitude of this has this finally hit me. I think I was still in shock and disbelief yesterday. However, this morning I put on my MJ playlist to listen to him as I work because I wouldn't feel right listening to anyone else today, and tears just started streaming down my face.
Off the Wall is my all-time favorite album by MJ. That album smokes from start to finish. My favorite MJ solo songs: PYT Get on the Floor Remember the Time Rock with You Off the Wall I Can't Help It Baby Be Mine It's the Falling in Love Smooth Criminal Thriller I just hope Micheal is finally at peace, and I wish strength and comfort for his family and fans. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

I have way too many favorite songs. My favorite album is a three-way tie between Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad. Those are the albums I can listen to without skipping one song.
Since yesterday, I have been listening to songs like Human Nature, Fly Away, Never Can Say Goodbye, etc. I just love the way his voice floats over those tracks. His voice is flawless (I just love how people are reporting that he was a soprano! Technically, he was a spinto tenor). Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

I just can't listen to anything right now.
Call it a coincidence, but, Saturday, I watched the TV movie of their lives, Monday, I watched Soul Train video (YouTube) where Joseph brought home video showing Michael and the boys playing basketball. Then, yesterday, a couple hours before the news broke, I was reading about the brothers being nearly destitute --- while listening to vintage J5 and Michael. So, for me, all of this is being viewed through the prism I was already viewing the family through and it shows them as real people with struggles and triumphs. Consequently, I feel as though I've lost a good family friend from way back. What MJ song haunts me right now? Gone Too Soon.
