Sorry about the dose of reality, but to anyone else other than his hardcore fan base,Prince will be remembered for Purple rain and nothing else. Maybe his strange behavior. That's as close as he'll come to MJ.

Sorry to disagree but for a lot of neither Prince or MJ fans, the child abuse allegations and face changes far out weigh his hits I'm afraid. Not everyone thinks he was some massive icon, he was a pop singer and dancer at the end of the day and not the pope.

I Cant Help It from the OFF THE WALL album is one of his most underrated songs I think. and It was written by Stevie Wonder

I guess it's a white thing LOL Michael Jackson or the idea of a Michael Jackson made it possible for black artists and public figures to be fully accepted in mainstream media. In his own little weird way, Michael Jackson made it possible for Prince, Tiger Woods and if I can be so bold, Barack Obama.

I love Prince and hes equally a genius on the technical side and muscianship side of music, but I dont his popularity is at this magnitude. This MJ movement thats been going on is something you would see for royalty or a president this man's death is causing grief and mourning all around the world

No actually at the end of the day, the pope is only, and I repeat only a "human being" too, with his own faults, just like Michael Jackson was, let's not forget that.

- Yes. For me, MJ was a genius of entertainment (like Madonna), a great singer and dancer (a lot better than Madonna). And Prince is a genius of music, who happens to be a great entertainer too.

Really liking the tracks below right now. In the last few weeks, I'd actually started listening to a lot of his music again. There's so many songs I hadn't heard in a long time, especially Good Times, that is quite powerful now and a brilliant track.

Good Times
Blues Away
I'll be There - Pepsi Version
Push Me Away
Smile
Ain't No Sunshine
Stranger in Moscow
Human Nature
I Can't Help It
For All Time
Butterflies
P.Y.T

We all know that if Prince died, there is a lot of old unreleased music that could be released for years but does Michael Jackson have any? I'd love to see some old jams released that were made by either Michael solo or with his brothers from around the "Destiny" through the "Thriller" eras.

Screw The Pope! Michael Jackson and his music has meant more to me (and millions of other fans) than The Pope and anything that he has ever done.

Jagger ? Wasn't it Freddie ?

It was originally intended for Freddie, but apparently their schedules only allowed time for a demo recording. So Jagger was asked to step into the breach.

As for my memories of MJ's music....

Being in High School and the excitement of waiting for the Dangerous album to come out.

Literally wearing out my Bad tape....

Actually, during the recording of that track and some more (More To Life then This and Victory) Michael found Freddie sniffing coke in his bathroom, Micheal didn't agree and Kicked him out! biggrin Freddie was gonna end up on THRILLER but because of the COKE incident didn't... lol

When I got home yesterday, I immediately put on side one of 'Off The Wall' vinyl, and blasted it.

"Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough"
"Rock with You"
"Workin' Day and Night"
"Get on the Floor"

"Workin' Day and Night" was always the JAM.

Then I put on "PYT", "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'",and "Baby Be Mine" from 'Thriller', also on vinyl.

I danced my ass off.

Remember, I'm not known as a Michael fan, but these songs above I've always dug.

Plus, back in the '80s, my boy Rog was TOTALLY Michael, and I was totally Prince.

He dressed in Red and Black... me in Purple & Black.

He even looked a bit like Michael (Off The Wall/Thriller era), and had every dance move down. I looked a bit like Prince, and we used 2 battle at house parties...
u & i r kindred spirits... ive always been about prince, even when everyone else tripped over mj it is sad tho but remember micheal was an entertainer- prince is a musician as well.

He'd throw on 'Off The Wall' or 'Thriller', do his routine, and I'd jack the turntable, and throw on '1999', and sometimes 'Purple Rain', and do my thing.

THOSE were the days.

RIP Michael.

Okay, I don't remember who said that Prince is really only known for Purple Rain and his "weird behavior." I'm sorry, but have any of Jackson's albums outsold "Thriller"? I don't think so. So, in non-michael jackson fans' eyes, jackson is only known for that record. Now, let's talk about this weird behavior business. Does/Has Prince own(ed) a freakin' monkey???? don't think so. Does prince let children come over and let them sleep in his bed?? Don't think so. MJ fans can say all day that he didn't commit any sexual crimes, to which I would say, uh, "Why did he pay that family $22 million???? to avoid going to court and looking like a guilty man(?)? If he had done what MANY of us know he did with one of my children, I wouldn't have taken hush money. I would have made sure he spent his last days in prison, being treated the same way he treated children.

Yes there is. Some of it was already released on one of the more recent boxset and you can listen to many of those tracks on youtube as fans have uploaded them there. His unreleased outpuf isn't necessarily of the same quality as his released, but I think it's mostly because they wanted to focus more on the
tracks they'd pick for the albums anyway.

On youtube, you can start from something like that and just try clicking on the various clips appearing on the playlist on the right side of the screen:
http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

it's a bit like old-fashioned TV channel surfing.

But yeah, playlists!

I've been listening to HIStory a lot since he died. Very underrated album. From Scream to Money is just classic MJ.

JAy-Z did a remix of "You Rock My World" in 2001 with MJ. THat record was the jam. He was still relevant.

Main stream radio didn't pick up on that album, but Black radio loved it. That trackmasters beat was so sick. That's the new MJ I'd like to remember.

Human Nature.

To me this is Michael Jackson's best song. It has got to be one of the most covered songs of his as well. It has just a perfect set of chord progessions that is so original. Smooth as silk.

I did not like the Earth Song because it was sad and it blamed God for all of the problems in the earth. MJ pretty much called GOD a liar and uncaring.

My neighborhood has a few block parties during the summer and I guess one was planned for tonight as hundreds of folks were out and the dj was bumping. Given the news I guess, he was playing all MJ. We decided to hang out for a bit and ended up dancing up a sweat! Off the top of my head I know he played PYT, Wanna Be Startin Something, Rock with You, Dancing Machine, and Baby Be Mine. People clapped and cheered at the start and end of almost all of the songs. It was a nice and Id say a fitting celebration.

Not only is Prince one of the greatest musicians ever born, Prince will be revered because has never been marked by scandal. MJ is being remembered for his music and his videos but in the same sentences, the media cannot seem to stop talking about his child molestation charges. If it were not for the music channels and radio stations, MJ would be remembered for his alleged liken for male boys and his questionable sexuality. Prince alleged eccentricities had nothing to do with his personal life but more with his ability to appeal to every person in the society and remain true to himself. Prince was not perfect, but who is? He did endure some episodic rumors about his life but those rumors did not overwhelm him and those rumors quickly dissipated as fast as they evolved. Prince will be remembered as a great musician. I cannot imagine and refuse to imagine how it would be for anyone who genuinely loves Prince if he died prematurely.

disbelief

I said on another thread:

I just can't believe how classless and tactless some people are being about the whole thing!!! Whatever your personal feelings about the man are, his vast contributions to the music world simply cannot, should not and will not be denied!

If you don't like it, go find something else to do for a few days, read a book, go outside and play in the sunshine, anything! Just leave the man and those that want to appreciate him, in peace!

Yes, this is a Prince fan community board, so whatever happened to showing a little Love 4 One Another, huh? Seriously! disbelief

But no matter what negative stuff has been said about Mike or whatever allegations have been brought against him, my love for him and respect for his talent and many gifts will never die. And at this time my "WackoJacko" alter account will also be permanently put to rest.
