I don't think he comes on here but DJ Dredd from the old Lovesexy DC parties made me love MJ again after attending a few of his Prince vs. MJ parties. Of course Prince always won - but MJ was a close second.

Wannabestartinsomethin' is my fav.

I have been remembering a track that I used to hear on the radio in L.A. all the time in 1987. It was a remix of the Way You Make Me Feel... I don't know if it was an edit of the 12-inch mix or what... but I've never heard it since and can't find it on the net... Does it exist or am I imagining things?

State of Shock with Jagger - music heart

Jagger ? Wasn't it Freddie ?

It was originally intended for Freddie, but apparently their schedules only allowed time for a demo recording. So Jagger was asked to step into the breach.

As for my memories of MJ's music....

Being in High School and the excitement of waiting for the Dangerous album to come out.

Literally wearing out my Bad tape....

My fave songs were Beat it and Billie Jean, but the entire Thriller album brings me good memories. It was the first album I bought (I was 8 back then). The last album I listened to was ´Dangerous´. After that, I lost interest for his career, but Michael was a giant on stage. The kind of artist we all stop to watch when he is performing on TV, for example.

Rest in peace, Michael.

Sorry about the dose of reality, but to anyone else other than his hardcore fan base,Prince will be remembered for Purple rain and nothing else. Maybe his strange behavior. That's as close as he'll come to MJ.

- Hmm. I disagree. I think Prince will start to be remembered when he dies. If Prince gets to live as long as Ray Charles, he will be receiving those Life Achievement Awards and several tributes. He is already receiving now.

For me, the only difference between Prince and people like Dylan, Brown, Hendrix, etc, is that Prince arrived too late to the game. Like Eric Leeds said, popular music was already defined in 78. But in terms of pure talent and genius - when it comes to popular music - Prince is much more than Purple Rain, and influenced pop music, R&B a lot.

BTW, I was talking about music, not fame. Michael Jackson is like Elvis, or Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, etc. Huge pop icons and nobody comes close. Prince will be remembered by music lovers.

Wow, still having a hard time here accepting Michael Jackson is gone.

Let me say my first memory of Michael Jackson was in 1987 in the cafeteria during elementry school. The music was blasting not only songs from the brillance of Thriller but also then new album Bad. Even at being six and seven years old and my gangasta wannabe cousin had Bad posters on his wall when he was staying with my grandma, I knew this man have influence and appeal that reaches out to all types of ppl regardless of background they were or where they were from.

Michael has been part of my life he was around physical and he continues to be present through his music and spiritually. Through the good times; dancing and playing Jam off my cassette tape that I recorded off of the radio. When in the sixth grade, I remembered when The Jacksons movie debut on ABC, and that glue me in through the struggles and trimpth of Michael and his family. I recalled the next couple days that not only my math class we talked about the movie and how good it was but also I even checked out a book from the library because I want to know more about the Jackson family. Despite his allegations (to this day and since the first day I seen him made his statement in 1993, I believed that he is innocent of child molestation) and his enigma life he had as well as the controversities he had, he is a brillant performer who had love for his children, fans, community, and his family.

My prays and thoughts goes out to his family and his three kids. Michael I hope that you found peace and happiness on the otherside that you did not find in this joyous but at times also fuckup place called Earth. Your true fans will always love you.

My neighborhood has a few block parties during the summer and I guess one was planned for tonight as hundreds of folks were out and the dj was bumping. Given the news I guess, he was playing all MJ. We decided to hang out for a bit and ended up dancing up a sweat! Off the top of my head I know he played PYT, Wanna Be Startin Something, Rock with You, Dancing Machine, and Baby Be Mine. People clapped and cheered at the start and end of almost all of the songs. It was a nice and Id say a fitting celebration.

I liked Michael too. I played "you are not alone" and "Enjoy Urself." I wonder if his funeral is going to be private, if not, can you imagine how many people are going to be in attendance? I am wondering if the funeral is going to be in Gary, IN. Billy Jean and Wanna be startin something are my favorite songs MJ.

I think about the good times
We shared together
Whenever I think of you

Something goes through my mind
Through my mind

My heart starts churning
I wanna see you again

I think about the good times
Nothing but the good times
I think about the good times
We shared together

Oh, like holding hands
Remember how we made our plans
We used to dream on a star
How did we get like we are

I think about the good times
Nothing but the good times
I think about the good times
We shared together

It's funny things don't always
Go the way you want them to
Although we're not together
I treasure my experience with you

Oh, like exploring love
Moonlit sky above
Learning how to give
Learning how we should live

(Good times)
Oh, the good times baby
I think about it
Good times
We shared together
Oh, good times
Ain't nothing like the good times
The good times baby
I think about it
About the good times
We shared together
Together, together
I think about it

(Long as we live)
I remember, yes I remember
As long as we live
I'll think about
(The good times, baby)
Yes, the good times
The real good times

(Holding hands)
(Exploring love)
(Learning how to give)
(Learning how to live)
(Learning how to love)
(The good times, baby)

(Good times)
Good times
Yes, the good times
(Good times)
Good times
(The good times, baby)

This makes it more tragic to me...

Michael Jackson's last rehearsal: 'just beaming with gladness'

Michael Jackson spent his final night alive in his favorite spot on Earth: the stage.

At Staples Center Wednesday night, the performer did a full run-through of his planned comeback concert. He and his company -- dancers, musicians, singers, aerial performers, choreographers and costumers -- planned to fly to England early next week for final dress rehearsals at London's O2 Arena, the site of the pop superstar's 50-night sold-out run.

"He was dancing, training, working every day with our choreographer Travis [Payne]," Ortega said. "Michael has always been slight. That was his fighting weight. He was getting rest time, coming in and working with the band, guiding the singers, working on orchestrations. He was enthusiastically involved in every creative aspect of this production."

I've got to say I am rather disappointed how people are not putting Michael Jackson's career in the proper context. I have to say, I am a huge Prince fan and I think that he is a musical genius. In fact, I am a bigger Prince fan than a M.J. fan.

However, Point Blank: Michael Jackson is the Greatest Entertainer in the History of Mankind and no one will ever be greater, Period. It's funny to me how they say, "The Elvis or John Lennon of our day". THERE ARE NO COMPARISONS! If the Beatles, Elvis, and my boy Prince are stars, Michael Jackson was the Sun. The "King of POP", is way too modest. He was, and will always be "The KING of Music".

He came at just the right time in musical history and harnessed just the right sound.

That was God's gift to us, the world, and I am lucky that I lived in this era.

I've also gotta say that a brotha is a little bit disappointed in President Obama for not publically speaking on M.J.'s death this morining. In fact, I feel that an emergency prime time press conference live from the oval office would have been in good taste. Screw what the stupid masses of M.J. haters might think and your polls. You are the President.

In the words of Dave Chappelle, "C'mon? The man made Thriller!....Thriller!". One hundred million plus albums sold...and counting! Numbers don't lie.

I appreciate you, M.J. May God rest your troubled, under-appreciated soul, Mr. Michael Jackson.

Hee--Hee--Hee! sad

Peace.

WILL YOU BE THERE...
MAN IN THE MIRROR....

these i find i listen to continously, while watching the same videos...not that there is pretention in any of Michaels music, but these give me a glimpse into his soul.

after that, any Michael music works for me...like Elvis music works for me...
i will not necessarily listen seeking the musician, more or less i will be trying to hear the timeless messages their music still unveils.

to have an artist with his/her music is a gift.give them their flowers while they can still smell them, your love while they can still feel it, your appreciation while they still are aware of it.

Michael is not the beginning nor end of talent,..he is just one those who had 'The Touch' and he did, massively.

they say Michael is broke? if everyone of his fans gave him a dollar...i don't think Michael summed life up in dollars and sense...yes, sense....he truly lived in NeverLand, this world was never really his home, but i hope he found his way back there, where people don't judge or misconstrue unconditional love, and the ability to show it.

I don't think any of us have a clue how RICH Michael really was...

everyday i try to find 'The Man in the Mirror', God willing I can MAKE THAT CHANGE.

RIP michael.

UNCUT MICHAEL JACKSON VIDEOS ALL WEEKEND NONSTOP...THE ONES NOT SEEN FOR YEARS, VH1 CLASSIC CHANNEL....not the regular Vh1.

No doubt. Ever since I heard the news, my mind has been stuck on the 'Jacksons' songs/albums. As much as I loved seeing him deliver solo, Off the Wall is just supreme, pinnacle R&B. Bad is only underrated because of what it followed. Invincible was really really good, but sadly lost under the weight....but it's the work with his brothers that impacted me the most. I took my entire collection to work today and listened all day long. These are additions from my book.

That's What You Get for Being Polite (just sub in MJ for "Jack". period)
Good Times
Dreamer
Everybody
Time Waits For No One
and Wait (Jackie's underrated cut...but when Mike comes in near the end in background, that song is the highlight of Victory to me)

But it's the inside jacket photos from Destiny and The Jacksons that stick with me. As much as he needed to break free to let his artistry out, I think he was healthiest with his brothers beside and behind him.

peace in sadness

So true. There was something so beautiful about Michael when he was with his brothers. Infact it is the pictures of when he was with his brothers that are tearing me up. I am glad he is back where he belongs now, with his family, for one last time.

Two of the greatest Pop albums ever released: Off the Wall and Thriller.

It doesn't get much better than that, The musicianship of all involved, and MJ's performance - him at his peak.

Whatever decade, whatever century, these albums will forever be classics and define this generation.

The performances at this time were nothing short of unbelievable. Not many can get near his level of talent, skill, or perfecting their craft to the level he was when he was at his peak.

If anything, he's now free from this crazy life he had, and will always have his music.
