But Britney is a talented performer. No she doesnt write her own songs or play an instrument or make up her own dance moves. But shes not, and has never claimed to be, a songwriter or a choreographer. And you don't have to play an instument to be an artist. She is a PERFORMER. No one says broadway stars or actors are any less artists or talented because they dont write the movies or plays they are in. I'm not a huge fan of hers but she is definitley different from people like Cassie and that pathetic Kat Deluna, or anyone else around for 5 seconds
[Edited 3/22/09 21:18pm] I don't get all the love and sympathy for Britney Spears while other equally talent-less artists get hated on...really if one sucks, don't they all suck? She's an entertainer...much like the cute little monkeys at the circus...aww, when they come out with their little hats and jackets on. ...soo cute. She entertains the crowd and then they cart her off and medicate her...okay, maybe that's a little much, but it's probably not that far from the truth. Seriously, to even compare her to Broadway actors who actually sing LIVE without the assistance of blaring backing tracks is a really dumb comparison. From what I've heard of Britney, she was a stand-by for a Broadway show back when she was younger and actually had some vocal ability (before she smoked that away with her nicotine habit); but I don't know if she ever had to take the stage. Broadway performers are more talented than most artists signed to actual record deals and what they do damn sure ain't easy. Seriously, the thing that Britney really excels at is doing as she's told by all the people who she allows to continue to pull her strings. The only reason people feel sorry for her is because she had a public nervous breakdown which is her fault for not telling her label to go and screw themselves. She should have left all the paps in LA and gone somewhere peaceful, but she chose to stay in that environment. If you jump into an open flame, you're going to get burned. If you're a famous person in the middle of a messy custody battle with lots of media attention in a city where that's the norm, than what the hell did she expect? When Paris Hilton had that nervous breakdown in the back of the cop car that took her back to jail, almost everybody thought it was funny...or at least I did. at when rich and famous people get arrested for doing dumb shit...how do they not see all the mofos with cameras following? The only thing they should be doing with all those paps constantly following them is going to church and charity events so they can get the public to actually like them a little. I don't feel sorry for anyone who lacks common sense. And there you go AGAIN with the SAME "i don't have to feel sorry for her!" speech! Man, you're repetitive!

If you don't like her; you don't like her; and, you have a right to say so whenever you feel like it...especially in this thread...don't deny your feelings...let it out; you'll feel much better . As much as I like Christina, there have been several times where I've wanted to slap her...like when she made that snotty response about the whole Lady GaGa comparison. She could have said, 'No Comment', instead of sounding like a diva bitch...God, Christina . Sometimes, I just want her to only open her mouth when she has to perform...same goes to Kanye. Lol, this isn't even about defending her. It's about coming into any thread that even mentions Britney and seeing you on your "I DON'T HAVE TO FEEL SORRY FOR HER IF I DON'T WANT TO!" tirade yet again.
You must have totally missed the whole title of this thread, not to mention that I've heard lots of the same people mention how much they hate a certain artist in several threads on this board. Don't even get me started on all the Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Madonna, Rihanna (before the beat down), MJ, T-Pain, etc., topics with the same haters always voicing their dislike for that artist; but that's kinda the main point of a forum, now isn't it? Don't get it twisted into thinking that I just have a problem with Ms. Spears. I don't feel sorry for anyone, famous or not, who makes decisions before considering the consequences (myself included). My younger sister is a mother who has dicked her children over alot; she makes Britney look like a saint; and I've already told her how I feel about her bad choices and didn't sugarcoat it either. Most of the time, I don't call out just Britney, because she's not the only one who has done idiotic things while cameras were recording. If anyone videotapes you doing illegal or questionable things, that's called 'evidence' and anyone with common sense should be able to figure that out...but common sense is like patience because only a few people seem to have these attributes nowadays. Since her father got rid of those users in her life who called the paps, she's barely even photographed. And the most exciting thing she does with her day, when she's not working, is go to the gym or go shopping. That era is over now, move on, for Gods sake.
What era? Media whoring will never go away as long as there are celebrities who continue to thirst after attention at any cost, and there are tabloid magazines and shows who are willing to pay paps damn good money to get those pictures of these people embarrassing themselves. Paparazzi are just the middle men and when I heard how much they can get paid for certain pics, I really can't blame them most of the time; but, more and more nowadays, they tend to take it waay too far and many of them really need to learn how to use the 'zoom' feature on their cameras. If someone was going to pay me $1,000 for a photo of some celebrity walking down the street, that person had better wear a mask because that's a Grand for less than 5 minutes of work and it's a public sidewalk, so that celebrity can suck it. Some celebrities are pretty stupid if they actually believe they are entitled to privacy in a public area...one of the major downsides to being rich and famous is the loss of privacy, but they chose that profession, so that's their problem. I just hope that Britney maintains a discreet lifestyle after the conservatorship ends; because, as of now, her father is still in control. In that documentary she did, she seemed like she kinda missed the chaos, so only time will tell if she's truly changed for the best and decided to finally grow up and focus on being a mom instead of weekly tabloid fodder. For her children's sake, I wish her the best, because her sons deserve a healthy mom. Honestly, if she didn't have any kids, I wouldn't have cared about any of her erratic behavior. If she wanted to party with Paris 24/7/365 panty-less, bra-less, and barefoot; and shaved her head, arm pits, and pubic area while being filmed by 50 paparazzi and the local evening news crew because it made her happy, than more power to her, get ya happy on, girl; but when one's behavior starts affecting the livelihood of that person's children that's where I draw the line. It's not okay or fair to those little boys to have to endure that shit. Mentally ill or not, if a judge tells you that you have lost custody of your children and recommends you get therapy, then if you truly love your kids as much as you say you do, then you should be willing to do anything to get them back; she obviously wasn't; because they had to force her into getting help. My opinion is the same for any mother who puts their happiness above their children's, whether it's Britney or my next door neighbor. So, in saying that, feel free to keep arguing with me about my opinion of her (always get a good laugh btw, so thanks bunches), because I have the right to say what I want on an open forum just like you and anybody else does. I've said my peace, so I'm done. Prince Rogers Nelson

I'm sorry but this mentality is just fucked up. Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine you not being able to go get some groceries without your picture appearing all over the internet while people do mega close ups on you and try to work out if the person you're with is your boyfriend/ex/brother/gay best friend/husband/lover/waiter/hairdresser and what exactly you're doing with him and why. Celebrities are not public or paparazzi property, they are people with big jobs that require liasons with the public. THAT'S IT. Yes, some D listers take it too far and court the media more than others, but for most of them, the paparazzi are a plague. SINCE HER FATHER STEPPED IN : January 22, 2009: Britney Spears has been so on track nowadays that we scarcely find her on the streets of LA. Here she is driving with her bodyguard (supervisor) on Thursday. From a paparazzi's youtube account. You don't recover from a mental breakdown over night. It's only been a little more than a year since she was on suicide watch and being drugged and cut off from the world by strangers. If she still has that rebellion in her well, who knows what's going to happen? Anyway, my point is, you seem to be stuck on the idea of Britney going crazy running the streets every time she's mentioned. It's like the minute the word "Britney" or "Paris" is said, you go on this old tired tirade about calling paparazzi and not feeling sorry for them. Britney is back making music, with 50/50 custody of her children and seems to be doing fine. Why bring all the crap back up again when it's not even relevant to the thread? It's not okay or fair to those little boys to have to endure that shit. Mentally ill or not, if a judge tells you that you have lost custody of your children and recommends you get therapy, then if you truly love your kids as much as you say you do, then you should be willing to do anything to get them back; she obviously wasn't; because they had to force her into getting help.
Ugh, you just don't get it. SAM LUTFI was drugging her, he cut off her home phone line, he cut off her cell phone line, he even used to hide her dogs and tell her they'd escaped to make her go crazy then "find" them so she'd be happy with him. He used to tell her "If you listen to me and do as I say, you'll get your kids back" and things like "They haven't called yet" when really, her phone line wasn't even working! http://www.mtv.com/news/a...tney.jhtml http://www.usmagazine.com...gainst_him http://www.mtv.com/news/a...tney.jhtml ""Two or three paparazzi came into the house and entered the kitchen," Lynne wrote. "They greeted Sam. The paparazzi reported to Sam where Britney currently was. ... The paparazzi reported to Sam and addressed him with great respect. They treated him like a general."" "Britney, Lynne wrote, was in "an agitated state" and kept changing her clothes as well as her dogs' clothes. Lynne then discovered her daughter was taking the antipsychotic medications Risperdal and Seroquel, but didn't seem always to be aware of it or know why. (She also later learned Britney was taking the stimulant Adderall when she was checked into UCLA Medical Center). "Britney spoke to me with a tone and with the understanding of a very young girl," Lynne wrote. "Britney ... picked up a bottle of pills and read the label and asked us, 'What does insomnia mean?' Sam told her that the pills would help her stay awake."" "Lynne also wrote that Lutfi said his plan was to get Britney into a sleep-induced coma so that her doctor could give her drugs "to heal her brain."" "During a shopping spree later that evening at Rite Aid, Lynne wrote that Lutfi claimed to have control over everyone in her daughter's life. "You better learn that I control everything," she claimed he told her. "I control Howard Grossman, Britney's business manager. I control her attorneys and the security guards at the gate. They don't listen to Britney, they listen to me. That's why Jamie was gone tonight." Britney later asked for her father, Lynne said in her declaration, saying, "I want my Daddy up here. I want to talk to my Daddy." " Lynne wrote, "Britney then said, 'What do I have to do to see them?' Sam responded, 'Take the pills I tell you to take.' Britney said, 'I don't like the pills and I don't like the psychiatrist. Can't I see another psychiatrist so I can see my babies?' Sam responded, 'If I told you to take 10 pills a day, you should do what I tell you to see your babies.' "

Can't we leave it at the fact that Britney is NOT VERY GOOD AT HER JOB and doesn't deserve any of the adulation or attention in the first place? She's a small step up from Paris Hilton. Throw all of her woes with the paparazzi, her trouble and what's right and wrong with the media saturation of celebrity out of the window. It all boils down to her being a really shit singer who releases really bad songs.
