Evidence Includes Rihanna's Bloodstained Gown
March 5
Link

The cops apparently left no stone unturned while investigating Chris Brown.

We have learned exclusively that, among the evidence turned over to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for its probe into the singer's alleged attack on Rihanna, is a bloodstained Gucci gown identified as the one Rihanna was wearing when they fought on the morning of Feb. 8.

"The police took Rihanna's dress into evidence because it had bloodstains on it," says a source close to the investigation.

The $11,000, flowing strapless gown was provided to Rihanna by Gucci, with whom she has a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal, for Clive Davis' annual Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton, where she and Brown were spotted looking cozy the evening of their altercation.

Just hours after the alleged attack, the LAPD filed an emergency protective order—at Rihanna's request—barring Brown from having contact with the "Umbrella" songbird. The order expired five days later, according to sources.

"It is standard practice for the cops to ask the domestic-violence victim at the scene of the attack whether they would like an emergency protective order keeping the attacker away," noted Santa Monica-based criminal defense attorney Alec Rose.

"If the victim requests it, the EPO is issued and is good for five days. After that time period, the victim would have to notify the District Attorney's Office if they would like the order extended."

Her family situation always had be scratching my head. She was what 17 or 18 when she started out in the biz? And she's away from her homeland and without any family around her? Then her dad sounds kinda strange in his comments. Sounds like she doesn't have the best people around her. That's always been my impression.

It was sad to see Halle, Robin Givens, Pamela Anderson etc all talking about their past abuse. But, it also shows how common it is and the issue is no respecter of beauty or economic status. People can prevail in spite of going through this type of stuff. When I see Halle or Pamela I never think of them as victims of abuse anymore, ya know?

I sorta see them as heroines of their own story, especially Tina. Only they know what they went through and what it took to get out or move on.
I know, right? And how could I forget Tina Turner? bow

I have the urges, but have generally resisted slamming Rihanna. I understand the anger towards her, as I fee it, too. But more than that, I just feel she's in a whirlwind and vulnerable. It feels like piling on to be so hard on her. She may have the economic resources, but what is that without the spiritual or emotional resources?

What I find really interesting is, if they are really trying to reconcile, her statements given to the police are now being used against him. Does that anger him? Will he feel compelled to do her bidding in order to get her not to testify? After all, she apparently said she WILL testify. lol So, it sounds like she has one foot in and one foot out. Talk about strange bedfellows. lol

How would leaving an abuser jeopardize her career?

That would be a bad thing?

Is this a Chris Brown defense?

HIS career, as in his handlers, managers even family pressuring her. It wouldn't be surprising would it?

Obviously pressuring Chris only results in Rihanna getting beat down.
He putting something in her life that she like.

Hate to be shallow, but I loved that damn dress! I don't think Gucci wanted this type of publicity when they loaned it to her. neutral

TMZ said Chris' people wanted to postpone this arraignment to avoid a trial at all costs. They hope to cop a plea. They said the pics of Rihanna the day after the incident that will be used in court are way more gruesome and damning. Now you KNOW TMZ's gonna pay someone for these photos any day now.

So there are more photos and they're worse than what we've seen? I'm guessing they took pics of her arms, legs and hand as well.

Oh yes, there are pics that were taken the next day that are reportedly way worse than what we've seen. The swelling and bruises were more pronounced, I'd assume.

Dang, now my local media is reporting this! A felony charge is no joke!

She should just dump the guy, and get a better boyfriend.

Sending him to jail for four years is quite harsh.

But he should have a short-term jail sentence just to send the message across that he was stupid to do what he did.

I was shocked to see Rihanna's attorney (Donald Etra) smile and whisper, "How are you doing Chris? Nice to see ya." during the court hearing. Unless they have already agreed on some type of monetary deal and know that Chris will plead guilty, I don't understand why Etra would express cordiality to him.

And why postpone the arraignment? While Rihanna's latest reported meetings of "reconciled-love" with him make her look more and more unwise (to say the least), this postponement doesn't make any sense either. Since the PD report officially states there was no self-defense involved (on Chris' side), the delay of the trial is puzzling, especially since most news reports assume he has no plausible defense strategy to win this case.

There'll be a discussion on Larry King Live tonight.

I think partly why this garners so much attention aside from their celebrity is because they're so young. For some reason abusive relationships amongst teens and young adults aren't talked about or taken as seriously but this is precisely when when intervention is most crucial.

Excellent point.

There has to be rehabilitative intervention for these young people, on boths sides, now, before they set themselves up for a lifetime of abusive behavior. They are still young enough to be turned around and live psychologically healthier lives after this incident, but like you said, now is the crucial time to get ahold of them both.

As in "Take You Down"? Really? I haven't heard the parodies, but the name-dropping has begun. Here's Ghostface's two cents:

Showing his support for Rihanna in the midst of her public dispute with Chris Brown, Ghostface Killah has released a dedication song for the pop singer.

In "Message from Ghostface," the rapper offers words of comfort.

"This is for all my women out there that be getting beat up,"Ghost says in the intro. "You know what I mean, struggling, welfare, sometimes the jobs ain't right, they going through mad trauma, especially with they man when they don't really need that sh*t, Rihanna, they know what they going through...I can see it in your face, you've been hurt mad times/Fell in love on the block and couldn't read the signs/In the beginning it was all good/He sexed you good/Kept you close in the bed real tight...Then problems come when the affection slows down."http://www.sohh.com/2009/03/ghostface_killah_sends_me.html

And since I've referenced this clip on almost all of the eighty topics we've had on this "couple", I thought I'd post this here for safekeeping. It's Chris talking about how he and Rihanna never fight and how he'll never marry her--one can only hope biggrin . http://www.youtube.com/wa...u00M4AG644

Wow the picture of her face was bad, but the description of what occured was BRUTAL!

Rihanna in no way needs Chris Brown, so she should move on. It would be different if she didn't have the means or was strapped with kids. Then it would be hard (but still very needed!).

Chris needs help. Hopefully now he will get the help he needs. In fact hopefully he'll do some time. Then he can make a whole new set of friends (in Prison, OZ preferably). Maybe he can sing "Take You Down" for the monthly talent show.

Chris needs to go away. (his stylist is fierce tho' that suit he wore in court was on point.)

something very similar happened to a friend of mine who came home 1 day early
from a bussines trip and when he walked into the bedroom, his boyfriend for 3
years had TWO cellphones on the nightstand. he then tried to push one under
the covers sneakily. but my friend saw it and jumped on the bed, snatched the
phone and walked into the hall to check it out.

his boyfriend jumped out the bed and gave him a boxing punch to the kidney and
tried to wrestle the phone from him.

my friend then ran for the front door and tried to run down the stairs of the
appartment with the phone, at which point his bf, caught up with him, wrung
his arm behind his bad and smashed his face into a grit wall. repeatedly. in
the end he broke my friend's finger and ran back into the appartment with the
phone.

my friend went straight to the cops, got them to go back to the house with
him to get his clothes and personal belongings and is now living with some
relatives.

and this all from a man i've also known and dined with, been to movies with
and had family bbqs etc with. he was always the perfect gentleman and such
a sweet, timid guy. in his relationship he was exactly the same.

seems a cheater caught out can do some crazy ass shit indeed. horrible disbelief

Experts say it's all too common for a battered lover to return to the abuser--often repeatedly--for a number of reasons.

Among those reasons: guilt, love, fear, isolation, financial hardship, lost self-esteem; no psychological energy to leave - resulting in a learned helplessness or psychological paralysis.
