Alicia was alright....It was cool to see some legends of old school reggae get some respect though. One Blood used to be my jam!

I would have to agree. While it could have been tighter, she took a chance to introduce some reggae artist of the past. I give her props for that....As for it sounding like, "Where is the love", tell me who has not recorded a song in today's R&B that is not a direct rip-off of another song, and this includes songs that are using samples. Will I AM, does not seem to be complaining about it. If he did, we would have heard about it all ready.

Alicia has done a reggae mix for just about every damn single she's released. Very boring now. Just perform the damn song the way it was written.

I work hard each day to clear this crappy music & these basketcase celebrities out of my thoughts.

I stumble on this damn show and I just get filled with negative thoughts.

Beyonce... again I will never get it.

Carrie Underwood I do actually think she can sing her ass off.

Duran Duran sounded flat. The new album sounds like copy cat stuff, and hungry was def missing some punch.

If Alicia is such a big reggae fan, then why was the reggae feel some of the worst I have heard.

The Dancehall mix was alright, selection wise.

But someone tell what key the song was in? and then try to find what key Alicia was in.. I just was getting her killing in a bad way at Live Earth with Keith Urban on gimme shelter. I know its a hard song to sing but her murder... its just a shot away was again off.

Oh yeah Mary J doing her crazy possessed vocal approach... when she hits a bad note she crouches down. The groove is actually decent, I like the bassline.

LOve that last note..... Key of shit

And so does every artist that comes out these days. Why single out Alicia? As for "No One", being a direct rip off of where is the love, the tempo is different, making it a different song.

Not many other artists do reggae mixes. Rap, yes. Reggae, no.

And Alicia does it badly.

What about key and melody? Or should we look past that... So I can use little red corvette if I play the melody at 200 bpm?

Yes everyone rips each other off.. but I think we have to call it out as music fans.

come on wake up, its a money business and it deals with who's the largest international seller right now and who can generate money exponentially. Beyounce is hot right now.

Madonna is almost 50, and kids that buy and download music don't care about her. Or Janet who's last two albums have not reached 1/10th the level of international sales that Beyounce has reached.

I am not a huge Beyounce fan, but I know its all about money and who's hot. And on a talent level, she can sing better than madonna and Janet put together.

No no I understand why she got it, but still...WTF?

Beyonce may sing better on a technical level but her songs are about 1/100 as memorable. She's fucking boring.

If anybody is ripping anybody off, it would have to be the originators of that style of music.....Not the black eye peas, Alicia, Sean Kingston, or the Beatles for that matter, (Yes, they did what you are accusing her of doing too) but the people from whom they got their styles from. You "calling it out", as a music fan would be cutting off your nose to spite your face because your just as guilty as everyone else who listens or purchases today's music. No one police's rap artist when they lift a sample, so why start on people who are playing their own instruments.

point taking, but doesn't most pop music have a short half-life. Material Girl, like a virgin, or Nasty boy are not any more memorable than to the left, or dangerously in love. All of it is bubble gum music and has a fast expiration date. to be honest I think of one madonna song that I hear that makes me jumb up and say, that's the motherf#$%king jam.

The AMA show hasnt been good since the early 80's, the fact that they hand an achievement award to a 25 year old is beyond me, she's a year younger than BRITNEY! does that mean if Britney wouldnt have had these "issues" she would be getting this award? Because lets be real shes sold more worldwide so far than Beyonce is going to in her career. So i cant really take this show serious, its true it has become The AMerican Idol Music Awards, and not because winners of that show are nominated, but just the whole vibe. And of course to redeem itself somewhat, they wheel out Duran Duran and Lenny Kravitz like some "sideshow" acts. These shows are nothing more than which lady will look the best in their outfit, or who will do something shocking. Even if something is good on these shows is so lost in the bullshit that who cares, if i were Duran Duran i would have turned this down, no one even watches this show anymore really, its always a bad ratings event, which is why it has been moved up in the year and to a sunday to get it over with.
