THE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MORE IN THE FANS' HANDS THAN THE GRAMMYS!!!!! AND IF YOU ACTUALLY BREAK IT ALL DOWN, IT MAKES NO F-IN DIFFERENCE ANYWAYS!!!! THE GRAMMY WINNERS ARE DETERMINED BY SOME "ACADEMY" OF PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY KNOW WHAT THE F**K THEY'RE DOING- I DON'T CARE HOW RENOWNED OR ESTEEMED THEY MIGHT BE!!!! HALF OF 'EM ARE OUT OF TOUCH ANYWAY!!!
THEN YOU GOT THE AMA'S.....VOTED ON BY "YOU" THE FANS, MOST OF WHOM DON'T KNOW A GOOD TUNE FROM A TURD IN A TOILET BOWL. AND THAT'S WHAT HALF OF THESE SO-CALLED SINGERS & PERFORMERS ARE ANYWAYS!!!!!
PROPS TO ALL THE REAL SINGERS & PERFORMERS OF TODAY!!!!!

The AMA show hasnt been good since the early 80's, the fact that they hand an achievement award to a 25 year old is beyond me, she's a year younger than BRITNEY!

She's actually 2 months older than Britney. Beyonce is 26 and Britney will be in a few weeks. *note: I only know this cos I'm a late-81 child too*

Still, AMAs gave MJ a special achievement award when he was 26 too. I know it can't be compared, but I'm just saying biggrin

I haven´t seen the show, but somehow I can´t be bothered to watch it anymore. All these shows are beginning to suck big time.

come on wake up, its a money business and it deals with who's the largest international seller right now and who can generate money exponentially. Beyounce is hot right now.

Madonna is almost 50, and kids that buy and download music don't care about her. Or Janet who's last two albums have not reached 1/10th the level of international sales that Beyounce has reached.

I am not a huge Beyounce fan, but I know its all about money and who's hot. And on a talent level, she can sing better than madonna and Janet put together.

Well, to be truthful in terms of sales. Her father and her forced her stuff, um music on people. We're being force fed. Both Madonna and Janet knows when to cut their losses and move on.

You can't force the public to walk into a store & put money on her cds and singles. Sorry, you can't. That don't even make sense. Rihanna had "Umbrella" that was everywhere and millions put on her promotional campaign...1 million ppl haven't even bought the cd yet. If the public at large honestly didn't respond to the music, she would not be successful. It's supply & demand.

The AMA show is just merely a reflection of the public, and as we know, alot of times the public is not the best judge, i mean 80% of people were for War in Iraq and they did elect Bush twice, and who can forget them picking that Jay Leno look alike on American Idol over Katharine Mcphee. So with the AMA's its never a surprise on the nominations because they are "soundscan" judged and picked and then people place the votes, so you know where its going. For the Grammys, i have more faith, since the electing is done by the industry and musicians and singers, and then voted on by the same people. Though they are lost sometimes, like nominating Jethro Tull as Heavy Metal, or the rules for Best New Artist which some years they observe and some years they dont. So i know people think the Grammys at time are out of touch, but, they at least open the playing field to something other than sales.

I thought this was the best awards show that Ive seen in ages. I started watching during Lenny's performance.

Lenny was good. The String section sounded nice.

Latifah shocked the hell outta me. I knew that she could carry a tune, but had no idea that the sistah could Blow! wow.

Daughtry were cool (even if 'Home' is basically a re-write of 'Every Rose has it Thorn), especially once the strings kicked in.

Mary J was cool as hell. No props, live vocals and dancing like she could care less.

Chris Browns tron suit and ceiling dancing was visually entertaining.

Duran Duran were a little snoozy, but it was good to see them.

All in all, not a bad show, IMO.

Holy crap...Nicole Scherzinger is fine.....but her performance was awful!! This was the worse picks to open the show.

i agree. she didn't sound so good to me.

ok so the highlights of the show to me were Alicia Key's! i thought her performance rocked but maybe not for something like the american music awards. i think it would have ben better recived at the BET awards or MTV awards, she killed it though, Chris Brown what can I say? his dancing is no joke and i loved Mary J. Blige. I love the fact that she had no backing dancers or anything and she still rocked it! loved the song too. it had an 80's old skool vibe and she looked great!

oh and country time beyonce was interesting. that woman who sang fits actually had a great voice.

I forgot about Alicia! At first Im like "here we go again".."No one Blah blah"..but then Junior Reid comes out and does One Blood and it keeps rollin' from there. I thought it was cool how she gave so much of her time to pay homage to some great dancehall tunes. It was a good look.

i thought that was very cool that she gave the dance hall artists their props. honestly i doubt they'd ever be acknowledged on the american music awards otherwise. i wonder if most people in the audienc were confused.
