The Most Underrated Stevie Wonder Song Of All Time No arguments. No debate. This is one of the best tracks Stevie ever did, but is overlooked because it came after his golden period.

http://www.youtube.com/wa...oFYV8IOtR4 This IS a true classic. Hell, most of Stevie's work is classic! "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

http://www.youtube.com/wa...oFYV8IOtR4 This IS a true classic. Hell, most of Stevie's work is classic! Yeah, but most people hardly mention it because it wasn't on one of his iconic albums. Point blank, this song can go toe to toe with anything he did in the 70s. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

I said no arguments, no debate. There is no debate to be had. This is his most underrated song. Case closed. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Anyway, it's a fantastic but underrated song on an underrated album. "Most underrated"? Hmm... "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

paisleypark4 said: me either...its nice...but it goes to Skeletons, or All Day SUcker, or Tuesday Heartbreak I see midnightmover's point, re: underrated songs from underrated albums, but I tend to agree that "Tuesday Heartbreak" is atop the "all-time" underrated list. I might put "You Got It Bad Girl" ahead of "T.H." with "Maybe Your Baby" coming in a slight third. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I thought about it some more. How about most underrated song per album? Here's a first pass:
Sunshine in Their Eyes Happier Than the Morning Sun You've Got It Bad Girl Jesus Children of America Please Don't Go All Day Sucker Black Orchid As If You Read My Mind Front Line I Love You Too Much Free "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Amen! This is my second favorite Stevie Wonder song, after another song from after his peak, "My Eyes Don't Cry"! I was thinking of "Free" when I read the title of this thread. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

All Day Sucker is a jaym...the funkiness of it..the Michael Jackson influential vocals..U know Mike musta played this one over and over. And Prince played "Tuesday Heartbreak" while playing his acoustic guitar. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Great song indeed. I haven´t heard it before.
That shot of the lady washing her little baby is just sooooo...cute in a way - the baby screaming since the water is cold probably.... The video is great and touching overall. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Here Stevie is, performing his most underrated song in England in the late 80s.

Nevermind Shakespeare. This is pure poetry.
"Free" Free like the river Flowin' freely through infinity Free to be sure of What I am and who I need not be Free from all worries Worries prey on oneself's troubled mind Freer than the clock's hands Tickin' away the times Freer than the meaning of free that man defines Life running through me Till I feel my father God has called Me having nothin' But possessing riches more than all And I'm free To be nowhere But every place I need to be Freer than a sunbeam Shining through my soul Free from feelin' heat or knowing bitter cold Free from conceiving the beginning For that's the infinite start I'm gone but still living Life goes on without a beating heart Free like a vision That the mind of only you can see Freer than a raindrop Falling from the sky Freer than a smile in a baby's sleepin' eyes I'm free like a river Flowin' freely through infinity Free like the river My life goes on and on through infinity “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

I truley believe he is one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. Many of his songs have touched me so much by thier lyrics alone. And when he puts music to it...only thing I can say is .....genius! [Edited 11/14/07 10:11am] U want to know the secreat of love and happiness? Love GOD with all your heart, mind soul and strength. Just take a couplet like "Freer than a raindrop falling from the sky/ Freer than a smile in a baby's sleeping eyes". You'd have to be the philistine of all time not to see how great that is. And what about "I'm gone but still living/ Life goes on without a beating heart"? Stevie ain't even limited to this life. He's thinking about the next one. Tracks like "All Day Sucker" and "Boogie On Reggae Woman" may be funky, but they do not reach those depths. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
