I had forgotten about your dislike of the Fab Four. Voters obviously thought 'Sgt. Pepper's' (my fave Beatles album) is overrated. Dislike is putting it very mildly. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I did buy her the B-side box set 2 Christmases ago. Maybe I should borrow those discs for a while We're also selling a Cure box set here at work, maybe I should buy it for my white half's sake Although Love song has always fucked me up in the most major way. I'm actually surprised I never got into them based on that one song because I absolutely love that song
I'ma hook you up. | |

If you do decide to go the random route, you can't go wrong with "Disintegration". Plus, it's got "Lovesong" on it.

I do love "Lullaby". Actually I was just browsing through their Greatest hits and I can say I really love a lot of those songs. I never had album experiences I guess and I only kind of appreciated those from afar. Nobody I was friends with was into that kind of music, such was not the taste of the gangbangers in Santa Ana But the cool kids at school were into The Cure and those kind of bands. But I wasn't cool back then But I did get into The Cult because of a boy I was in love with 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It would be nice if he went for a block of albums, but that's only if he determines that he likes them. I'm currently doing that with Bowie (Hunky Dory/Ziggy/Aladdin Sane). grammar edit [Edited 6/19/06 16:10pm]

And I actually am building a mix around "The Walk" It's gonna be New Wavish with old school and new school stuff. Electro new Wave adventure. That's what I'm aiming for . [Edited 6/19/06 16:22pm] [Edited 6/19/06 16:23pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

This is why it was easy to be diplomatic. I never liked the Cure, but who am I to say that they didn't do something of value?
Honestly, I never really gave them a chance, which is usually the reason I think most people don't like some of the "greats." They just get an impression, like "eww Prince showed his butt. He's a fag. Therefore I hate his music" My Legacy

[Edited 6/19/06 16:22pm] [Edited 6/19/06 16:23pm] I was kind of in the same boat as you were when I was in high school and for the most part couldn't be bothered with all that weird alternative stuff. Then my art teacher played 'The Head On The Door' in class and I liked enough of the songs ("The Blood" in particular really moved me) that I took a chance and bought the album. And while it might have been a little too soon for me at the time to get into an album like that, years later I loved it and it's my favorite Cure record--even made my top 25 for this list.

Honestly, I never really gave them a chance, which is usually the reason I think most people don't like some of the "greats." They just get an impression, like "eww Prince showed his butt. He's a fag. Therefore I hate his music" I made the same point in another thread. This is one of the main reasons why bland, uninteresting figures often sell well. If you sat 99% of people down and played them some great P songs or showed them some great footage, they'd be converted overnight, but they get put off by the weird behaviour, the appalling wardrobe, etc and so they miss out on all he has to offer. Since it's usually the unconventional artists who are the most talented it means a lot of people simply never know how great certain artists are and how empty what they're listening to is. Shania Twain has sold a hell of a lot more records than Bjork ever will.
