Honestly, I never really gave them a chance, which is usually the reason I think most people don't like some of the "greats." They just get an impression, like "eww Prince showed his butt. He's a fag. Therefore I hate his music" I made the same point in another thread. This is one of the main reasons why bland, uninteresting figures often sell well. If you sat 99% of people down and played them some great P songs or showed them some great footage, they'd be converted overnight, but they get put off by the weird behaviour, the appalling wardrobe, etc and so they miss out on all he has to offer. Since it's usually the unconventional artists who are the most talented it means a lot of people simply never know how great certain artists are and how empty what they're listening to is. Shania Twain has sold a hell of a lot more records than Bjork ever will. Which comp is it? I had the Sound & Vision 3 disc set, which is basically all 1970-1980. That was enough to hold me for a long time. Eventually, though you need to hear the whole albums. I guess there SHOULD have been rules about the number of Prince albums allowed per list 
Still, that's a pretty sweet list. It gives me some ideas for musical purchases. While doing my list for the voting, I realized how little I've explored music from outside of my time. I mean sure, I have a few old Bowies, I have the Dolly I grew up with. I have Jimi and The Doors on tape, but I've never really delved into some of the older music. That'll be my mission for the rest of the year.  | |

And, you SHOULD check out The Stone Roses. I recently gave this album to a friend for his birthday. He's just a bit younger than I am and had never heard any of it. He fell in love after just a few listens. Which says to me that the album is aging well and doesn't come off as a dated-listen which you had to have heard back in the day to apppreciate. | |

I was very impressed by everyone. Of the four times I've seen Bauhaus, that was easily their best performance. Peter Murphy was dancing around the stage like it was still the 80s! And Trent's stage production was incredible. Really awesome visuals. Peaches was funny. | |
