it was sought of hilarious to me...Sly still looked a tad high...and when he left everybody else had this look on their face like "oh no he didn't, i didn't go through all these damn hours in rehearsal for him to just up and leave after 2 seconds of performing...should i leave too"?

I have a question for those of you who feel that Sly's performance should be accepted. Just because an artist has reached the heights that Sly Stone has, And has been an inspiration to generations od musicians that have came after him. Should we accept just any kind of performance from them even if they are rarely seen in public or hardly ever perform anymore? I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone but the Sly Stone I saw last night was uninspired. I think that rather then give a performance like that, He should've turned down the Grammy's request when they asked him to play. Instead of performing, He should've just came out and had words. That would've been better then what we saw last night.

We do not know what type of shape Sly is in. It may have taken a lot for him to do the little bit he did. People say he looked high or whatever but the curvature of his spine may be causing him tremendous pain. We just don't know. I guess it's best to bash someone without knowing the truth. I truly believe his performance should be accepted. It was worth watching the horrible spectacle the Grammys have become to get a glance of him, performance or not. This is my point... and your opinion is what I think is wrong with the music consuming public when it comes to musical legends. You just witnessed a musical god on stage last night. A man who doesn't HAVE to prove shit anymore because he did it from 1967 through 1973. Instead of accepting his appearance for what it is... you knuckleheads come forth with a "What has he done for me lately?" attitude.

Do you want me to tell you what kind of inspiration do you truly expect from a 62 year old man, whose life has been affected by severe drug abuse and a stroke? The inspiration came from the fact that he showed up to be seen after 13 years and to perform after 30 years. That's your fucking inspiration RIGHT THERE.


P.S. and for those who are hung up on the mohawk and gold lame suit... Do your research and you'll realize that Sly was never an ordinary dresser. Wore the biggest afro wigs and some of the most outlandish garb in the history of music... but he was still the shit.
