I cannot believe they found him.

This is a miracle. I truly thought the civilized world would never see him again.

Even though his songs were butchered, man it was great hearing those influential lyrics and rhythms again, all condensed together on one stage.

And let me say I LOVED the BLOND MOHAWK
headbang headbang headbang

Prince totally needs that look.

He looked awesome. I didn't think he could top the sunglasses and big afro of old, but he did ! lol

The 2 best parts of the performance IMO were

1)Dave Chappelle's introduction

2)Sly walking out

The rest of it..was in a word, "disapointing." disbelief

That was the saddest, strangest and most disturbing live performance I've ever seen.

That was hard to watch. He played like 5 notes and you could barely hear him sing. It was cool to see him again and the mohawk looked cool, but he was in no condition to be jamming up there on stage with everyone.

Now Sly fans know how Michael fans felt at his 30th anniversary show..except this with Sly was worse, because the hype was a lot bigger. Poor Sly....and poor Sly fans sad

I guess this pretty much kills the hopes of "comeback album" or "comeback tour" or even future TV gigs...dang... mad

I haven't seen the show yet but if it was as bad as people say then its such a shame. I'm sure Sly and all those associated with him would have had high hopes that the performance would spark renewed interest in, and respect for, the man and his music. Unfortunately these kinds of "comebacks" always run the risk of being just plain embarrassing, especially if the artist hasn't been playing much. It's probably why Larry Graham (and possibly Prince) didn't want to be part of the whole thing - if you know there's gonna be a train wreck, you don't get on the train.

So sad, I just hope it doesn't tarnish the public's perception of one of the few true legends of modern music.

Okay.... TIVO'ed... just watched it...
I don't blame any of the mediocrity of that performance on Sylvester Stewart.

First and foremost... there were way too many folks on that stage. The Family Stone (sans Larry) was there but nobody knew it because of all of the people on stage. If that was indeed Sly's last public appearance, then I blame NARAS for putting all those bastards on stage at the same time. I like a lot of those folks but... it wasn't the proper time place nor manner for them. This is the re-emergence of Sly and the Family Fuckin' Stone... you need to trim the fat... and focus on the goal...

I'm so pissed right now... Hell, if I was Sly I woulda walked off mid-performance too.

This is why nobody buys CD's anymore, and I'm PAYING $12.00 a month for SATELLITE RADIO because I can hear the REAL SLY on the RADIO in my car now. THE GRAMMY's are ALL PAID FOR. I KNOW. I'VE SEEN what goes on BEhind the SCENES. Well guess what JOSS, Nobody's BUYING IT.. YOU can put that in your FIONA APPLE and SMOKE IT>

I almost laughed when he walked off stage, not at Sly, but just at the fact he ditched. It seemed like he wasn't that into it. Is something wrong with his neck, that he didn't look up? or was he looking up and I didn't notice? eek

If ever there was a strong case against drugs, Sly Stone was proof positive. I don’t mean that in my usual cynical way, I was really heart broken to see the performance by the Larry Graham-less Family Stone tonight.

What was with Sly? I loved the hair, I figured he had to top himself and he always was crazy...but the hunched back? The bandaged hand, the missed cues, poor voice. He was in poor physical and mental health.

Everyone was so excited and started naming names like Prince, James Brown, duets! Slow down. Poor Sly just needs to re-enter society again.

Peace and Be Well Sly

He had a cast on too. I thought it was Beatlejuice from Howard Stern Show.

Age + a significant amount of drug abuse + a severely reclusive lifestyle = a not so pretty Sylvester

Honestly, he looked way better than I expected. The fact his wardrobe and hairstyle actually made me feel a little better. Much like our little purple friend, Sly was never wore ordinary clothes. I'd heard stories about the hunchback... but I don't even give a damn.

I was glad to see him. I just hope that folks don't focus so much on the shit that should have been expected in the first place. I believe that's truly the kind of shit that will keep him from returning to the public eye again.
