I've always believed in timing and I have to admit that there were not that many strong albums released last year that Alicia Keys easily dominated the Grammy's. If Prince's "Sign O' The Times" was released last year, I believe it would have garnered as many, if not more, awards at the Grammy's than Alicia Keys did. It's just sad that someone as prolific as Prince has not won or received as many Grammy nominations as Alicia Keys. The Rainbow Children is one of the best albums in Prince's career and I don't think it will be recognized in next year's Grammy Awards either.

Ya know what's funny is that U2 would beat Prince again like they did with the Joshua Tree in 1987! That would REALLY Suck! And I like U2 but SOTT should have one album of the year in 1987!!

No. You have to realize that Grammy voters usually only give attention to major label albums. And just because something is good (to us) and even on a major label doesn't mean it will garner that type of attention either. The Grammy committee has always been conservative when it comes to giving trophies for Album Of The Year. There are a lot more great albums that never get that type of recognition.

Timing does always help, but all things being the same as they are today: no album on the NPG label will get that recognition (it may have a chance at that if distributed by a major label), because not enough people are even aware of it. It's not popular enough, and since it's not a classical or jazz album it has to be popular. Don't put too much stock in the Grammies.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

WAKE the hell up and smell the coffee!

U2 kicks Prince's ass every freaking year.
There are simply more U2 fans in the world and in NARAS than there are PRINCE fans.

Both would've had their asses handed to them on a platter by the O BROTEHR WHERE FOR ART THOU album; not ALICIA KEYS!
