I swear it was a 4-star review before?

Was the voting done in Florida?
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

i dont see any 5 star cd's on the web site so maybe for some reason they only give 4 star smax on the web site cuz i know Musicology didnt get a perfect score..so maybe in the mag it was 4 out 5 and on the website 3 out of 4

No, Musicology was 4 stars on the website.

FYI, SOTT is an example of a 5 star CD, also on the website (That's one they actually upgraded over the years).

This is definitely a case of The Man bringing him down.

Knowing RS, they probably bought all the initial hype, freaked out when the single tanked, and didn't want to look bad with a four-star review for an album that (at least initially) might prove notable mostly for its sales tactic. Then, 5 years from now, when the consensus is reached that it actually IS a damn solid Prince album, it'll bump back up to 4.

Either that or someone's HTML sucks. wink

Or perhaps a huge P fan wrote the review, and the chief editor wanted an un-biased review, being that RS is a credible news source, so they had somebody else re-review (or re-rate) the CD.

Or maybe the url to that 4th star is broken.

WTF? Can they do that, just go back and change any review scores whenever they feel like it?

Yep, looks like they've changed it. Don't worry, RS sucks anyway. All they do is jump on the bandwagon. They didn't give Prince a second of their time for years and now all of a sudden he's on their cover.

Anthony Decurtis wrote the review. He's a pretty well-respected rock critic. The review hasn't changed, just the star rating.

It might be because they just re-formatted the site. Every music review on the site seems to say "Unrated" or 3-stars.

Perhaps, but SOTT managed to hold on to its 5 star rating.
