Why Should I Love You is from The Red Shoes, by the way. Brilliant album by Kate Bush. 1993, I believe. Says the song is written by her, but it has a Prince-stink to it. Very nice tune. "Have you ever seen a picture of Jesus laughing?"

I always thought she said, " Have you ever seen a picture of Jesus smiling? Do you think he has a wonderful smile?" Damn, If your right..ive been qouting the song wrong for years. LOL....guess I'll have to pull it out and check.

Kate Bush's The Red Shoes is AWESOME!! My favorite line from that album, "I dont want your bulls**t...I just want your sexuality"..That has got to be the best Prince line..Prince never wrote!!!

Actually, anything with Wendy and Lisa.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the girls will make a surprise appearance at the Kodak Theatre or Hollywood Palladium shows. They live here damn it. Those three need to kiss and make up. Damn!

I agree , Erotic City has to be included, and take me with you was just awesome, but yea, Appolonia's voice range aint exactly much to write home about, but it suited the style of the song.. but I must say, what about "Anotherloverholenyohead" ..

I know it aint exactly a duet, but Susannah and Prince sound amazing together on it, so yea, why not include it, even if she is kinda just backround on it, Thats the case with many of his "duets" exclaim

It's not "appolonia" it's Apollonia. But the person singing on Erotic City is not her but Sheila E.

As for my favorite duet. Musically for the concept of a pop single I would say Take Me With U, even though Apollonia cannot carry any melody. Instead of hearing another version of How Come U Dont Call Me for the 10th time can somebody do Take Me With You!!! Just imagine Take Me with 2 real singers. WOW!!!

For unique and style I would say Why should I love U? w/ Kate Bush. The idea of them together musically is too cool!!

For down right funk and kicking ...surprise!!! We Can Funk w/ George Cliton...."I'm testing [color=purple]Positiveeee [/]4 the funk...I'll Gladly peaaaa in anybody's cup!"

The Next time Prince.Org presents a question please clarify so that we don't end up reading a list of every Prince song

The best duet is "Arms of the Orion" with Sheena Easton. But I must say, Sheena's voice is better than Prince in this song (only in this sound ofcourse)

As many of you I have to agree that his best duet is with Rosie Gaines on Nothing Compares 2 U. Their voices are the bomb 2gether.
I was disappointed when I heared Waiting Room. It's a good idea but it lacks variety and I expected more of it.

DorothyPark...I'm not sure if all those songs you listed can be called "duets".Jill Jone's contribution to "Lady Cab Driver" consisted of a few background vocals and ALOT of moaning....lol....

Well DavidEye smile: , and What About : "Poem" a 'duet' with Vanity??? This is certainly a 'duet'. you have any idea how complicated that lyricsheet looked like? Vanity had to rehearse that song over and over, until he liked her come...
LOL
Still i love to hear Jill 'come', over 'Vanity'. That "Lady Cab Driver" song is awesome 2 the fucking max!

I think some of you need to look up the meaning of 'duet' in a dictionary. Prince did not duet with the Revolution, or Wendy and Lisa for that matter - can u guys count!

Next, you'll be saying he duetted with Clare Fischer!

Now, I got that off my chest - In my humble opinion, it has to be Erotic City for the best; the lyrics, vocals, and funk just exemplify why nothing compares to him. The worst, Arms of Orion - slushy schlock.

Stuff like Baby Knows and My Computer don't qualify whatever the liner notes claim. If someone famous does backing vocals, it doesn't make it a duet, just a wasted opportunity

Whendovescry, I believe Diva was talking about Take Me With U when he/she mentiones Apollonia. Typos are all over the place, who cares anyway? Have to admit I was a bit in doubt myself: Apollonia's not one I give much consideration.

To the person with the Kate conundrum: Uhm, not sure, but I think she's saying "Have you ever seen a picture of Jesus laughing - do you think he had a beautiful smile - a smile that healed - of all the people in the world, why should I love you?

That song and album are great - not to be tired of. I don't really like the single Rubberband Girl or the men's background voices on the aforementioned WSILY, but part from that? Yeah... sexysilkysmooth! Kate's a hot piece!

HEY DUMBASS, They didn't say LIST EVERY PRINCE DUET. BEST would be a SINGLE SELECTION. As would be WORST.

DOROTHYPARK said:

Sorry i can't seem to choose. So here's my list, and it's still not complete.

"Love Song" (1989?) with Madonna, great drumsamples and 2 of the most greatest voices together for just this once.

"U Make My Sun Shine" (2000) with Angie Stone. I just love the song for Prince's voice, and the very laidback beat. Angie sings great but it's not her best vocal performance. Still one hell of a great song.

"A Love Bizarre" (1984), "Erotic City" (1985) because of Sheila E of course, and because of the funkyness of those song.
Oh, and "Yellow" also with Sheila E. Funny and funky crap, but cool.

"Love Sign" (1996?) with Nona Gaye. Funky and fresh as hell. Shame he never did a whole album with that girl. Anyone more info on their recordings together?

"Alphabet St." (1988) with the one and only, ever funky and playfull CAT rap, with Prince curling in the back.

"It's Gonna B A Beautiful Nite" (1987) and (1988) the album version workes very well with the revolution singing all over this song. The screams of Wendy and live, that party feel of the liveshows by Prince back then...

"Take Me With U" (1984) Great song! Just simply the greatest song for a duet. Although Apollonia isn't that much of a great singer... The version with Vanity is a bit the same, but is far more interesting.

"Lady Cab Driver" (1982) The song where Prince rapes his Lady Cab Driver (Jill jones' voice) in the taxi! Goddamngreat.

"Sometimes It Snowes In April" (1986), "Strange Relationship" (1987) with Wendy and Lisa, needless to say more... All the songs with Susanah, Wendy and Lisa, prominently mixed so you can hear 'm all, aremy favourite 'duets' or whatever. I just think that the mix of their voices together did worked out : two more ->

"Crystal Ball" "In All My Dreams" (1986) duet with THE REVOLUTION. perfectly worked out songs. Just Perfect in everything. Timeless imo.

"Why Should I Love U' (1993?) with Kate Bush. as crystal as glass. Beautiful Song, two very beautiful voices together.

"Melody Cool" (1990) and "God Is Alive" (1988) I don't like both songs that much, but i love the fact he worked with her. Also her first album on PaisleyPark.

"1999" (1982) I love the intro of this song, because it has all his bandmembers singing like this song starts off as a quartet (Dez, Lisa, Jill, Prince). Though the idea was again repeated in 1999 on the New Version, but i don't like the New Version at all.

"If A Girl Answers (Don't Hang Up)" (1981?) Funky, dirty, cool and fresh. With Morris Day, Prince on the phone and around, and two girls of Vanity 6 (don't remeber who)... smile Not exact a duet huh!

"Still The One" (1998?) with Marva King. but i wuld love to hear a better quality version of it first.

Duets i don't like at all ; "Diamonds and Pearls", "Arms OF Orion", "Baby Knows", "U Got The Look", "Nothing Compares 2 U" (i think the The Family version is far more greater...), "New Power Genration Pt. 2", "My Name Is Prince", "In a Word or 2 w/Monie Love", "Shall We DAnce", "The Big Pump",

The worst Prince duet had to be Arms of Orien with Sheena Easton. At least I thought it was, Arms of Orien is a major grower. It happened a couple of years ago, something just clicked and I just realized, I love this song. I know this may sound strange, but I can't explain. These type of songs tend to be the best. I didn't like If I Was Your Girlfriend for along time. Now it's one of my favourite's.

I love 'A Love Bizarre' with Sheila E. I have the 20 minute version and back in the day i would play that over and over. Funky!
Also, love 'The Continental' with Carmen Electra. Very funky track there....."now get down on top of me, and grind really fast...take both hands, with all your might, and sqeeze my ass" Damn, how do you wanna be done??
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
