I like the vocals on it, the organ, the nice laid-back guitar in the background, the breaks, the lyrics, did I say the vocals. In one word that song is "sexy" for me. I guess it's not a groundbreaking composition as far as the harmonies or melodies are concerned but that are so many wonderful little things in there. Like his vocals... So, I tried to explain my liking of the song with my limited vocabulary, would you elaborate on your disliking? And IF you do, please, no "it's boring". Sorry, I really thought you were kidding cuz I figured you'd know I'd hate that song. Without writing a major essay on the track, let me just say that I find it very dry and empty. It has no real depth to it and it's typical of what Prince is doing these days. It just doesn't excite me at all. Not my cup of tea. Hey Evil...I completely hear you. Although, I can't bare to listen to anything BUT "A Million Days" (which I think is good), I completely understand what you mean. Maybe we should just give up on him altogether. I've been at the moment for a while now. (as you know) The HOF performance of "SOTT" was relatively good..compared to what I've heard over years...and the guitar solo from "While my guitar gently weeps"...made me cock my head, squint and say "OHHHH"....(too bad I don't get that feeling from HIS music)... ...have you heard MM's version of "Personal Jesus" yet?! I think I'll just sit around and wait for some new music from SOAD, Disturbed and Bush...Atleast they haven't let me down.

Yup, it should be a hot track. It would be cool if Prince did a cover like that. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

Are you always this unconvincingly blasé, my dear EWM?
Your words say one thing, your behavior another. Even though you have a choice as to what to do with your time, but you choose to spend it here overstating how much you are bored with Prince. Kinda transparent for anyone who's been around a cranky teenager in the last 10 years.

And that's really just a thought, correct me if I'm wrong. If you want to. I do wish Prince would do more rock stuff, but only if he does it well. But it's not just that. There's a certain sound that he lost years ago that I miss. I even miss his old R&B and funk style, and I'm not a huge fan of those genres. He just had the edge back then. Now he's bone dry when it comes to new music. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

so EWM, tell me,
if, if by some chance, you really start liking Musicology will you post here and admit it? before all the orgers, will you say so with a contrite heart? I was not very impressed either, after my first few listens. But it grows on you! That's how Lovesexy, Come, TRC were for me too. The musicology album is not exactly the direction I wanted to see Prince move in either, but I think it is a pretty diverse and well crafted album. Funky, smooth, rockin, jazzy. if this album were made by anyone else it would make them an absolute star, and instant sensation, with hit after hit. now i don't know if there is a strong point made there, but it does provide some perspective i think. Ahh, so EvilWhiteMale is trying to bore us to death with his new thread. I wonder if this is a new form of child abuse, not getting the attention he didn't get as a kid. With the exception of his reply on this thread(which is tollerable), the new thread is pretty boring and irritating. I'll admit, it's a good deal better than his previous posts, but it's so lame compared to what he's capable of. I thought he really wanted a comeback. I guess he'll just do it with his old dead horse-beaten opinion this week. For someone who's so into Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, Tori Amos, Slipknot, Kittie, No Doubt, and Korn, Prince seems to be all he truly cares about.

Evil white male I'd like to know what old stuff do you like. The thing is Prince is old. When you get old you just don't rock like you used to. I personally loved the rainbow children. I think it flowed better than an album since the symbol album. He is into the Jazz thing now. I haven't heard musicology yet but I can say that after as many records as he's put out it may be more difficult to find inspiration. How good was NIRVANA's stuff after NEVERMIND. How good will the WHITE STRIPES be if they are lucky enough to survive in the music business for 25 years. Think about it. half of the staff in their brain is on vacation!!
