What about "If eye was the man in ur life?" This is the cut I am digging the most right now and Ihavent heard anyone mention it. It is some ass kicking funk and the drums are great - Blackwell and Prince? Who cares - its FUNKY!

i love this song too...it is one of my faves along with Life of the Party....but it took a few listens to realize that "if eye was the man in ur life" was a different song than the marrying kind. I really wasn't paying attention to when the tracks changed! LOL "this is where the PURPLE PARTY PEOPLE be"

both the marrying kind and if I was the man in your life
are my current favourites on the album. they are great and extremely catchy pop songs

This song would kill on urban radio. It should be the 3rd single after Cinnamon Girl

Yep...problem is is that I eye was the man was recorded as a transistion from "Marrying kind" so its not structured to be a radio hit right off the album (a bit short) but easily the "popiest" song on the record..the bouncing keys are very cool and delivery is lively.... Cinnamon Girl is an embarrasment...Prince trying too hard to do a pop-rock song...comparable to "I like it there" (horrid) compare against the brilliant "take me with you" or even more recently the decent "so far so pleased"...I suspect this song only made the album because it its 911/war on terror message.. my fav as well!! love it! i've listened to it a dozen or more times while i've only listened to the others a couple times (in the short time i've had the CD)
i think this one would have a chance for rotation on the radio - and i think it's calling for a REEEEE-mix. that would be tite!!!! music is its own reward - Sting

And I thought the same thing when I heard it."He's trying to do another Take Me With You" Just doesn't work. I love the album just hate CG along with PCIC and LOTP. IEWTMIUL is the best song on that album and should be a single mos def. Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

I'm nodding my head in agreement that this is the hottest song on the album right now. It's too bad for radio it's not formatted radio-friendly but as far as the song structure, with the jazz change and everything, it's killin'. About time.

The first time I heard this song, I immediately thought of Britney Spears (snake around your neck, etc.).

This song is bangin. Didn't catch my attention on the first listen, but after digesting it a few more times this song is ridiculous. The drums alone on this song are crazy! I'd love to see a radio edit.

I REALLY dig them both but I'm wondering if it's b/c they're new to my ear or b/c I'll truly love them years from now. I know I'll bump Call My Name & I,C,P&C forever...

All I have to add to this thread is that it's SO comforting to me that I'm not the only one who shudders at the mere mention of the words "Cinnamon Girl." Ugh... No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

You're not alone my friend Also, I should note that the songs I labeled "okay" are actually "nice/okay" - they don't just kill you but they're definitely nice to listen to. I'm feeling all guilty about my categorizations now, as if anyone cares
