Right on.

and to really beat a dead horse.....
when I first made the Yoko comment, I just said that Mani looked like her in one pic. Nothing about Yoko herself at all. Who's to say that I don't like Yoko and her hats. When I see people wearing hats like that, Yoko Ono immediately springs to mind. Nothing negative about it, or her. Some people just jump to conclusions.

shhh I don't like the hat either. I thought also of a British wedding, as well as Yoko. lol

Sooooo you guys were arguing about Mani's hat?

Apparently.

Well I can only speak for myself but I wasn't arguing specifically about Mani's hat!

I was taking umbrage to preciosa863's assertion that my dislike of Mani's hat was due to "jealousy" on my part. I just plain don't like the hat! Big deal! Not everything stems from "jealousy".

Exactly, to each his own. Which was the point I was trying to make when I said your "Jealousy, that's all it is." remark was tired and not accurate.

Anyway I don't wanna fight with (or flame) anybody over Mani's hat.

I apologize if you felt I was flaming you. If I did, I didn't mean to come across that extreme.

JULY..U GO GYRL.. I gotta tell ya..them there pics of Prince speak volumes without words. It's all about his love for music. It oozes out of his every pore with every picture and movement. I cannot express my happiness enough for him. He's overcome so much in his career and is ever deserving of his induction. His originality is why I respect him and sticking to his perverbial gunz.

Remember during the ONA tour he asked the question:

"Is it more important to be a leader or a follower?"

A lot of people chose one or the other. I think he was looking for something deeper.

In reflection of that question and seeing where he is today, I'd have to answer "NEITHER". There is that "OTHER" category that noone spoke up about. It leads me to think that he wants us to B true 2 ourselves (no matter what others might think about us)..like he is to hisself.

Why put yourself in a lead positon because Leaders stumble and fall..and why be a Follower if following the leader means has the same outcome. Yes..the can both get back up but will they ever be the same?? I dont really know the answer to that one.

Prince stays on a path of his own creation. Bless him with his BAD SELF in the best way imaginable.

Sorry..i just got a little carried away. I just have so much love for the man. Whew! My head hurts now...thinkin too much. lol ;o)

Before I came on this site I was thinking Yoko Ono, it's funny so many people thought the same thing. That hat is horrible! I wonder if she blocked anybody's view from the ceremony?
I wonder if Prince asked her not to wear it.

What's with the stupid looking hat Mani's wearing?

It looks like Janet Jackson's old hat from her 1989 'Escapade' video, or one from the bottom of Yoko Ono's closet.

Prince - invest in a stylist for yo girl.

You actually think you're being insulting, there's nothing wrong with the way Yoko dressed back in the day.

Why can't she wear what she likes to wear, instead of being controlled by some "expert"?

I'm sorry..but the hat is dumb. Mani isn't the best dressed chick i've seen. No real style. She always just looks...ok.

well, let's keep in mind that tom was a lot closer to george than prince was (if prince even ever met the guy)... tom petty was one of his best friends and they had recorded together many times... it was probably more emotional for him that it was for prince (thus the shades)...

very good observation because it does look like Prince is just rockin out ( and there is nothing wrong with that) while Tom is kind of having a solemn moment.

yeah, i have to imagine that it was an extremely solemn moment for tom, especially considering that george has been eligible for some time now, and could have been inducted while he was still alive... prince doesn't have the personal connection to this that tom does...

cool I just watched VH1.com 's little clip of "while my guitar gently weeps".
Could some one who saw the whole thing give me a discription of the performance as what i saw was over the top as far as PRINCE'S SOLO.I hope he didn't play LEAD all through the vocal, as that would've 'pissed Tom Petty off' no end.PRINCE played great lead , did he do that right through the song though?

YOUR RIGHT JULY! I WATCHED THE CLIP AGAIN ON VH1.COM & SAW A BETTER REFRESH OF THE CLIP.

I LOVE ALL THIS ;GRAMMY'S ; HALL O' FAME ; PRINCE IS OUT THERE, BUT A RENEWED & MORE ACCESSABLE LESS MYSTERIOUS PERSONA IS BEING REVEALED.I THINK HE,S FEELING HAPPIER ABOUT HIMSELF AND WIDENING HIS SCOPE AS FAR AS OTHER MUSICIANS R CONCERNED! JAM ON IS WHAT I SAY .MIX IT UP .HIS PEERS REALLY WANT TO GET TO KNOW HIM A LITTLE BETTER, I RECKON HE'S OPEN TO IT & FEELING COMFORTABLE AS 1 OF A GROUP OF THE WORLD'S TOP MUSICIAN'S.KEITH RICHARDS ,TOM PETTY ,ZZ TOP, THEY ALL LOVE HIM & HIS PLACE IN SOCIETY IS LESS OBSCURE.A GREAT MAN !
