Tori Amos - Purple Rain appreciation. A superb cover.

Delivered with every bit as much passion as the original.

I recommend all non-Tori fans to listen to her version.

I met her at a show for the Choirgirl Hotel Tour in SF (98 I think) , I asked her to play "purple rain". I told her I was a huge prince fan. She said she was too, and then she blew me away when she said "your a huge prince fan? wouldn't you rather hear Condition of The Heart? We do that but we don't think any of the kids will know it..." Man, I love her...so much more when she said-fucking perfect. Her music isn't what it used to be, but she really was a exciting artist for a 5 album stretch there.

oh my girl is still what she used to be! scarlet's walk was as good, if not better, than any of her earlier works.

Yeah, Choirgirl came out that day-I remember that. Man, I waited out there for over a day-fucking slept out there. I was first in-line.

I did like Scarletts Walk...but its not as dangerous as her earlier records.

given that the record has an incredibly harsh (and accurate) telling of american history, keeping in mind that the record came out after 9-11, it is a very dangerous album. certainly her most political/social commentary to date. and while managing to remain anonymous in regards to socio-political history, she still manages to get quite itrospective and personal on quite a few tracks. i thought the record was her ballsiest because, at that time, anyone who had anything negative to say about america was pretty much blacklisted and boycotted. she kept it real.

oh, and 'gold dust'.

Wow, so she actually knew Prince's music somewhat well then...I'm VERY impressed, she seems like such a 'serious' artist, but you know that anyone that likes Prince has a fun streak! nod
