And Miles Davis, The Beatles, even Elvis Presley? And many more.
But Prince is more than that. [This message was edited Sun Nov 16 16:09:57 PST 2003 by JavierAlcalde]

Lil Richard, JB, George Clinton, Sly, Santana, Hendrix and Joni, are all artists I would have them listen to... Blue Blue

Take Santana out of that equation! He doesn't deserve to be there.
Otherwise it's fine. "How embarrasing to be human!"

Otherwise it's fine. Are you nuts?.I'd like to know why you feel Santana shouldn't be there. His influence is there for all to see.

Sugarfoot of the Ohio Players. Anybody who knows this cat is aware of how much Prince really listened to him. Prince`s falsetto voice is all Sugarfoot. "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

Otherwise it's fine. You gotta be joking. Carlos Santana is probably the guitarist who influenced Prince the most.

And Elvis, there are moments Prince is very similar to Elvis Presley, not only in covers like Jailhouse rock. It's clear the main influences have been noted in the beginning of this thread, but we can find more things like this, or even Zappa, Duke Ellington and more.
