"it's gonna be a beautiful night" I've been listening to this song a lot, and I've grown to really appreciate it. Jill & Susannah did a good job on backing vocals...I would love to see this performance since they couldn't stand eachother,
very underrated, ~KiKi

Jill was sleeping with prince when he was engaged to susannah. Since Jill was only his "bed pal" and wanted to be more naturally she was jealous of Susannah. They met eachother at a recording session or something and jill kept eyeballing her, from then on, well, it wasn't pretty. You know, maybe "purple rain" is based on reality, wasn't jill the same in that movie? And you shut up about the melvoin women, ~KiKi

Yeah, especially in the early drafts, Jill was kind of a girlfriend that the Kid kept on the side -- she loved him A LOT, but he was looking for sumfin' better. Not very nice of him. Of course in the final cut, we see some of Jill's jealousy toward Apollonia, and in Graffiti Bridge, Jill's pretty much the same person, but by then she's grown to be much tougher with the Kid. yep

Why do you think Wendy was so pissed at him? don't let that Greg & Wally thing fool 'ya I heard it was because Prince just was not very nice to Susannah a lot of the time. And what about Vanity? Back in '85 or '86, Vanity said she left Prince "because he wanted more." Hmmm.

very underrated, I LOVED this song immediately...the first time I heard it,back in 87(I was about 13 or 14 years old),I had never heard anything like it before, wasn't used to horns or "live" music. It just took my breath away, the vocals(specifically Jill),horns, and piano. It still has the same effect on me that it had on me when I used to listen to it constantly in 87-88. I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

I also LOVED this song the first time I heard it. Still do.
Especially those little pieces at the end that P calls out cues for (I can't remember all the cues now...but Jill yells out "One More!" and they play it again) but they've shown up on other songs.). Sheila used it in her House of Blues show during Love Bizarre... she yells out "Whipped Cream"... and the horns do the same part. I wonder if it's from some other song. Even though all versions I"ve heard are "live" (the SOTT album version and movie version)... the lead vocals in Prince's falsetto are clearly overdubed. I always wondered what it would sound like truy "live" with no overdubs.

very underrated, You know of course that they never 'performed' this live. They were asked to contribute oversdubbed vocals at Sunset Sound in the fall of 1986, but Jill and Susannah never sang this live with the Revolution in Paris.
