Reflection
2 7's 2gether, like time indefinite Try 2 catch the glass before it falls Without a frown, can U turn up the stereo? I wanna play U this old song, it's about love, can I do that? Did we remember 2 water the plants 2day? I forgot 2 look up at the moon because I was 2 busy, said I was 2 busy I was 2 busy looking at U babe Still it's nice 2 know that if bodies wear out we can get another What does that one thing have 2 do with the other one? I don't know, I was just thinking bout my... mother U know what, turn the stereo back down Ain't nothing worse than an old worn out love song Tell me, do U like my hair this way? Remember all the way back in the day When we would compare whose afro was the roundest? Mirrored tiles above the bed Fishing nets and posters all over the walls Sometimes I just wanna go sit out on the stoop And play my guitar, just watch all the cars go by .

i love this tune
i feel it ends quite abruplty tho another verse would be kewl. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I think so. When he talks about how he and his friends used to compare whose afro was the roundest and about fishnets and posters on the wall, it almost sounds like he's thinking back on years gone by. When Prince sings this song, his voice actually sounds kind of sad. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

prince says something like "ever listened to a sterio" while kidding around at the start of a song on the live vegas dvd, sorry can't remember exactly what song was starting when he said it.
anyway it was something about a sterio. Not Strange Rsp either. or Whole L Love. Been a couple days since i watched it. I'll look again. He always seems to put out hints of what is to come next during his concerts.

When Prince sings this song, his voice actually sounds kind of sad. Yeah, thats why I was curious about the "Bodies get another, and my mother" line Wanna know the significance of that one... but yes, he does kindof seem sad/ or a "Wanna relive that moment" in this song.

Yeah, thats why I was curious about the "Bodies get another, and my mother" line Wanna know the significance of that one... but yes, he does kindof seem sad/ or a "Wanna relive that moment" in this song. I think he's just referring to his belief that when we die, as his mother did, we get new bodies. I'm not an expert on this, but I think in his religious beliefs, when the world ends, there will be a new Earth and the people in heaven will get new perfect bodies. That's how I take that reference--that he's sad his mother died, but his faith offers him some solace. Elements of this song seem very similar musically to "In This Bed Eye Scream" (to me anyway), which adds another layer of meaning to the whole song. I like this song a lot; it does always put me in a reflective mood when I listen to it, which I guess is exactly what it should do.

Good observation Efan.
This song is really wonderful, I think its the best thing out of this year by him. This one song. I dig the acoustic sound, the flute (Could be his keyboard) and vocals..
