NPGMC REQUEST ABOUT PRINCE & MILES DAVIS

Hi,

I recently posted a poll on the NPGMC which is a request for the the publication of the Prince/Miles Davis works.

I know the reality of this collaboration is very discussed, but Prince himself, in 1996, told the french magazine "Rock&Folk" that he and Miles used to play long improvisations in studio, and that one day maybe he will release them.

So, if you wanna join this hopeful request, just click the link below:

Dear Tangi,
There might be legal issues involved here. Prince was going to release a 5 second tribute to Miles on Rave. It was a snippet of Prince and Miles palying together. Supposedly, the Miles Davis estate contacted Prince and prevented him from putting it on that album. That's why you have a 5 second moment of silence for Miles. It's after Greatest Romance , I think. Maybe in the future, we'll see an official release. Sony did put out a 5cd Miles live boxed set that contained some Prince compositions. Anything else with Prince and Miles might have to wait.

I'd never heard this before. I simply thought that Prince introduced the silent track as a tribute to Miles because Miles had previously said something to the effect that it was the gaps between the notes (i.e. the silence) which was important.

I never heard this story behind the moment of silence either. I dont believe anything that losers post in here until I see it in legit press.

I have no idea how authentic this thought is, and I've never claimed it to be the rationale behind the track.

...I don't believe it's a fact, anymore than there's legitimate cause to believe Prince says 'Os-burn' instead of 'Osbourne',for any other reason than it simply rhymes with 'learn' in the third line of his showboating rap.
