Would Prince want young people

discovering and listening to his early material surely Prince doesn't think that the ones who are just discovering his music will not want to hear everything he has ever done .. whether Prince likes it or not his music will be heard and some will start the music journey from the beginning to understand where Prince is today. The day will come when a child may approach him approach him and say 4 example "the first song I ever heard was AMERICA and I love it I want to play just like you do "would he be moved that young people want to hear and are influenced by his early music.
I noticed that in vault 1 u can't listen to any samples I almost get the impression that he may not have any regrets about his life but he is trying to erase his past music which is a gift even if the language or sexual content was a major part at least he evolved into the man he wanted to be.

I hope he will keep making his old material available to us without any edits.
It is fine he has found a way to live, but he needs to remember the road that got him there.
I do not mind him not playing Sexy MF anymore. I do mind that he is editing his old material to fit his new way of life. It's a bit tricky, this one.
On the other hand; if he keeps editing; he will keep playing into the hands of the bootleggers.
If only Prince could make up his mind...

It's a phase that most succesful artists go through. They become extremelly big. A lot of people associate them with one song, in Prince's case "Purple Rain". They then play that song at every concert for the next 10 years and all the clones love it and get the cigarette lighters out. Then the artist gets tired of being associated with that song and stop playing it. A few years later they then stop playing all early stuff and concentrate on new material. The reason they all state without fail is "that is not who/where I am anymore!". 10 or 15 years down the line they release an album that at least equals there best work and you read in an interview that they have "gone back to my roots!" and then you go and see them live and they are doing all there early hits again. It is a pre-determined path that is set out for all musicians.
It were proper bo I tell the!! Bo Selecta!

SensualMelody

Unless Warner Brothers sells Prince his earlier music, it will always be available- as is.

To most young people today, there is probably nothing shocking in it.
So...how's everybody doing? smile
