I think the seeds of that were planted in the late '80s though, considering he's been quoted (I don't know the date of the quote, but I first read it a couple of years ago) as saying he had "nothing to prove," after SOTT, which told me a lot. People with longevity will eventually release some less than up to par work, and I don't consider those late '80s seeds as coasting. Just uneven. Not too long afterward it felt like he became a fat cat in the early '90s.
