Oh shit.
It's a long story. A bunch of left over songs and a couple of party tracks recorded for Sheila E's birthday. Slung together on an album to show critics that Prince was still funky (i.e. "black"). Took the record to a club in MPLS, Ruperts, to test it on the crowd, took an 'E', had a bad trip and thought it was the work of the devil, so had it cancelled from release 1 week before it was due to hit stores. A couple of weeks later he starts recording Lovesexy and the bootlegging business booms. | |

That is a bit weird that this was psoted today. Today as I drove in the rain to work, I felt so in the mood for The Black Album, so I slipped it into my CD playa, and listened to it in its entirety (skipping When 2 R in Love only) on my way in.
I was thinking, what a bloody superb album that was, and I actually thought if I were to burn trax from Blac, SOTT, Dream Factory and Lovesexy to make a compilation what on earth would I choose. Bob George, what a song, so dark, so outrageous. I love the black album... what an album! | |

They question was WHY do you consider Prince a fool for trying E - not "is it just Prince..." or "do you consider everyone..." - ok? I'm not saying they shouldn't - I'm asking for the reasons why this person considers Prince's, or anyone else's, actions to be foolish. You can take anything that anyone does and consider it foolish, but you should at least know why you think it to be so. Some people may consider it foolish to bunjee jump, some people don't. Who would be right? Those who think its foolish would say it is taking an un-necessary risk - those that don't would say its a thrill and that it is a relatively safe sport. I think it's foolish of Prince (and every other person as well! Prince isn't some special person, he's just a person with a briliant mind) to take E because it damages and kills his braincells. I find it very simple - it isn't very wise to take any kind of drugs because they have affect the body in an unhealthy way, and I believe no one wants to be unhealthy. I just see the facts as they are and not think: "okay, he took it, and so what? It didn't make him stupid or ill". I know that I would never take xtacy because it is strictly agains my princips, and I think those people who do are truly foolish. And I have already explained why I think so. Conclusion: No one should take E because it damages your brain and body. And why damage yourself if u want to live as a normal person? | |

The album is the counter of LOVESEXY (THE WHITE ALBUM), which would also explain why ~When 2 R N Luv~ is on both albums. APparently there was confusion as to which to put it on. Unfortunately, P wasn't exactly crazy about The Black album. (I forget the source of the last statement, however I did read the rest in the book to the LS album- direct from Camille.)
