I do it find it interesting that it was announced at the Target center PR showing with Mark Webster (fired by Londell & Co.) and the other Nelson family members not named John...the same PR show that Sheila, Mitch Maguire (former PP director) and Greg Brooks (who dooesnt come out for sheet).
For something this big and with an organization like the Songwriters Hall of Fame you would think they would announce it in conjunction with the "Estate" and/or at PP...and not the family who are on the other side of arbitration. I don't see this as choosing sides....but it is def a missed opportunity on the part of Londell/whomever. And the PP social media still hasn't made any post about his induction. It is sad indeed...they have shown no interest in collaborating (the Celebration 2025 email I am doubtful. Feels like they put up collaboration opportunities to shut ppl up)....The PRN Memorial Hwy was a big thing and it got Mark fired...they miss opprotunities. Makes me glad that I went to see Prince when he was alive and performing back to back shows at the Fillmore in 2014 and then the Revolution show with Stokley Williams on vocals. That was a great tribute concert. Saw it in SF and Austin. That's when I felt like it was a true celebration of Prince's music and life. And I will leave it there. Done and won. Who gives a shit about it if he's not able to perform anymore to go with the honor. Everybody already knows Prince is among the finest songwriters. If he were really due to be inducted back in June 2016 (!) Then why didn't they award him at the time? Why wait 8 years more for it? Because that's buuuuulshit. |
