Maybe? He posted seconds after I gave it to him. But who knows. I honestly forget where it came from for me. It was a few years ago.

I jest! As long as we all get to hear it, that's what counts. biggrin

Is there a reason why they didn't release for everyone the song they've been using for the Celebration promo clip ?

I mean, this is the least they could have done. Especially when the track is called All Are Shared Together Now.

Sometimes I think they're just making fun of us. They do this on purpose.

If you didn't pay for the celebration then you are not entitled to anything. pretty simple actually.

They're still trying to hawk tickets through the Paisley and Prince social media pages while the event is more than halfway over.

LOL, I saw people complain on Twitter that the party barely featured Prince songs and a ton of Doug E Fresh shouting. And tonight's party is also a celebration of... Tina Turner.

.

Imagine paying $1500+ and then getting parties where they barely play any Prince music.

.

Oh, and if you're pissed off that back in 1998 or so you never got that tape of The War 1800NF was selling: they were selling it at this Celebration because they found a bunch of them, as well as ONA Live box sets (for $25!), as well as those Live In Hawaii round purple box sets. Betcha a bunch of VIPs are gonna cash in on that to earn back some of that $1500.

A good idea would have been to sell that D&P vault tracks EP at the celebration but of course they didn't.

music

Nice. Always a good show.

My other favorite artist -- besides Prince -- is The Fall. Muscially they couldn't be further apart, but each (depending on my mood) satisfies like no other. Guess I have a thing for absurdly prolific, autocratic cranks.

Isn't this the first year they've had so many unsold tickets thus close to the start date? I'm still getting emails about it... five days before it begins.

Where's your source that there are "so many unsold tickets?"

The snafu I got this morning trying to sell day 3 and 4 "one day" tickets without info on what you are buying.

I have to agree here. It seems a bit much to keep harping on Casey. nod

Yeah, it's disproportional to anything that's happened, to call someone wholly un-self-aware. He's a grown ass man, with a beautiful girlfriend. He lives his life and he's fine. If he'd gotten on here and went on a racist rant (read: OF4$), then maybe the vitriol would be justified.

It sorta feeds a person's need to paint whoever with broad strokes. I've certainly been on both ends of that in my internet life. I talk to Casey and I've never had an issue with him.

By the way, a couple of times when he's posted about a song having just leaked - he got it from me. wink

He just banned lot's of people because he didn't like what they were saying. There was the uproar and that's when Ben stepped in. Had all of us not created an uproar he'd still be doing it and there would be nobody left.

Casey isn't the go to Prince guy. I mean did he even meet Prince?

Depends on what day it is if he's a Prince guy or MJ guy.

Casey is by far not an expert on Prince. He can go F himself.

Don't forget the Wally incident. He, for a leak of the song, paraded all over but wouldn't post it unless he got 5,000 likes on his website. In other words, he wanted to be"paid" and incisors want the only one with that song.

He tried to tell me that Prince didn't live at Paisley the last few years but had a "confidential" home nearby.
Untrue --and this was after the properties list was released by the estate.

I figure he never knew that the Galpin home was demolished in 2006.

Looking at the official social media pics, the main hall looks a little over half full. And judging by the change of seat styles/comfort, the VIP guests are two thirds of the audience.

I had general admission and the highlight for me was the unreleased video of the Act II tour in London at Wembley Arena on September 7, 1993. We got to see the first half on Friday and the second half today. They cut if off after the song 7.

The Chaka Khan panel was ok, she seemed kind of out of it. She didn't really have good answers for any of the questions she was asked. I don't recall seeing interviews with her before, so not sure if that is just normal for her or what.

The Hip Hop panel was Chuck D, Doug E Fresh, and Tony M. Their conversation was more interesting than Chaka's. I'm not a Tony M hater, so I enjoyed listening to him talk about Prince setting him up to be a rapper.

The 7 panel was by far the best. It was Tony, Damon, Levi, Morris, Dj Rashida, Michael Koppelman, and Toya Gaines, Rosie's daughter. Lots of stories.

I could have done without the live shows and taken more unreleased Prince concerts.

Was it worth $600? Not really. They kind of dumbed it down this year and attendance showed. I had Pearl for Friday night and there were a lot of empty seats. I had Diamond tonight and most seats were full. I think there were more VIP folks than GA both nights. Museum tour tomorrow, so nothing major. I saw Lonnie make the comment earlier that they already sold more tickets than last year, well last year was only 1 track, so....

Cool info, thanks.
.
Read some reports of a portion of an Act 1 show being shown. And a listening studio session of a different version of Love 2 The 9’s. These 2 would’ve been worth the admission for me personally.
.
I really expected an announcement for a release after Londell more or less said there would be a few weeks ago. He looks a bit daft now but sure he’ll have some answer why he couldn’t

An honest review of Celebration 2023: This was not a celebration about Prince. During the few moments when they focused on Prince, they got it right. The 2 hours of concert footage and 40 minutes of vault material was breathtaking. @nunnabove was also brilliant.

.

But, the rest of Celebration was baffling for those expecting to get a Prince experience. They had a speaker who talked about how he made Prince guitars, which was interesting if you are into guitars, but was not really about Prince. Chuck D gave some great insight into rap, but

.

not really focused on Prince. Chaka Khan talked more about her iconic career than Prince. The fan panel was about more about fans than Prince. The 7 panel was about Prince and was pretty good, but, ironically, very little of it was about Prince's connection to the number 7.

.

The D-Nice DJ set was focused great music and Dougie Fresh, but not really Prince. DJ Rashida played one Prince song before they had a band do a Tina Turner tribute. Props to DJ Lenka, because her set at the W was actually focused on Prince.

.

The Stokley and Sounds and Blackness concerts had very little connection to Prince. All of the above was good content. But Celebration has lost its way. It needs to be all about Prince. 2018 was the best Celebration. We had 30 minute of concert footage to start the day,

.

a full Prince on the Big Screen concert with a live band at the Target Center and several Prince related live performers. 2019 was the worst one, but this 2023 Celebration is a very close second to worst Celebration.

.

They struggled with some of the logistics (museum tour was substandard, food was challenging, etc), but logistical issues are to be expected. What is unacceptable is the lack of focus on Prince's music and live performances.

.

We were at Paisley for 9 hours each day on Friday and Saturday for a total of 18 hours. In those 18 hours, we got about 90 minutes of Prince (concert footage) and over 16 hours of tangentially Prince related content. This is troubling, unacceptable and not sustainable.

.

Where do we go from here? It is not rocket science. At least 60% of the content should be Prince material, not the less than 5% that 2023 Celebration gave us. A little more transparency would be good also. Selling $1,200 tickets without an itinerary/lineup is disappointing.

.

Telling us that new music is not released yet because they are trying to get the sound right is disrespectful. We all know (without casting blame) that the Estate is having some internal strife which has led to challenges to getting music released and getting the netflix

.

documentary released. Prince taught his fans to search for The Truth and to not settle for mediocrity. Celebration 2023 was not a lie, but it was mediocre, at best. Do better next year so we can keep this going.

.

I'm sure many people loved 2023 Celebration. I respect your opinion about it. This is just an opinion from one fan that has been to every Celebration since 2000.

.

Sunday VIP showcased a great young gospel group. It was so good. Again, no Prince content and another swing and a big miss.

.

https://twitter.com/donny...2295781376

.

The most important issue for future Celebrations is how to make it affordable for all fans. The Paisley staff’s effort putting this together was exceptional. The problem is the format made it so much harder and more expensive than it needed to be. Overhead can easily be lowered,

.

which will result in lower prices for fans. The cost for simply pushing play for previously unreleased and previously released Prince content is much lower than the cost for artists and speakers. We want more Prince content and less of the other stuff, so that is a win/win. Maybe

.

have 2 small panels max. Instead of paying established bands like Stokely, Sounds of Blackness, etc., just showcase up and coming artists. We all loved Nunn Above and the gospel group. I’m not sure everyone loved the established acts. I’m sure the breakfast was extremely

.

expensive. They could have brought us in and had us listen to and read the lyrics of the Rainbow Children and we would have been happy and that would have been cheap.

.

They can save a ton of money on food. I’m okay paying for food. Bring in food trucks, but make sure they can accommodate all of us.

They really didn't say, but they did play a recorded message from her. She sounded ok. She talked about being grateful to Prince. Paisley Park gave her an award. I think they called it Prince Legacy award. Londell talked about being in contact with her and that they would try to get her to Celebration, but probably not next year and maybe the next.

Would love to hear more honest reviews like this than the transparent ass-kissing some folks on twitter have been doing.

$1200 for four days of poorly planned panels and events, and just a little bit of Prince concert footage and 11 unreleased songs, of which the two least interesting tracks were given out on a USB drive. Is that seriously the best they can do?
