So is he not selling the songs we are listening?

he is not. they are just playing in the background while he auctions off other memorabilia and stuff

But who is he?

And what is he auctioning?

And did he do this more often with unreleased Prince gems playing as muzak ?

All 3 songs would warrant inclusion on a Parade Super Deluxe.

And How recorded March 86.

Evolsidog April 85

Fun Love April 86 , Clare Fischer Orchestral stuff added August 86. Probably should have been on Sign deluxe.

I wonder if these have long been circulating amongst the elite or have they got their hands on tracks intended for Sign Deluxe.

I have a feeling they would hold "And How" for a future ORIGINALS collection.

Fun Love has a lot going for it. I love Prince’s delivery - he had a very unique way of singing during the Parade era that really complimented the chanson arrangements of the songs.

I really really hoped that they would have released Parade SDE after SOTT, it is such a good period.

There is so much quality stuff we know that could be included and probably a whole lot more we are not aware of.

I think it could even trump the Sign set.

Very sad.

Some of the greatest pop music ever created possibly will not get heard by the generation who would appreciate it the most.

Could not agree more with this.

.

I see a lot of comments about the fans being moaners, impatient and whatever else, and it's justified in some cases, but we're also getting no younger. Surely the estate will sell more to the hardcore fans now while we're here rather than to new or casual fans in years down the line

.

Of course it's complicated and the estate don't want to over saturate the market but surely releasing as much as they can and as soon as they can, one way or another, is wise. And win win for both fans and the estate

Why do you lot keep making up these horseshit excuses for the Estate?

.

There should be an extensive SDE for every classic 1980s album each year, simple as that. It has now been 2.5 years since the previous one, and this year we might perhaps get a combined D&P/Symbol SDE which is a) ridiculous since there is no need to combine these two and b) neither of these are "urgent" releases when there are still so many 1980s albums that deserve an SDE, especialy considering some of those 1980s albums aren't even well-represented on bootleg WRT outtakes.

.

As for this not making money: if the fucking Prince Estate cannot manage to make money from his back catalogue and a wealth of unreleased music, they should hand it over to a company that isn't wildly incompetent.

.

Case in point: Cherry Red, a UK label which licenses music from major labels, has just announced a five CD box set for The Rah Band, a one-hit wonder from the 1980s: https://www.cherryred.co....ming-soon/ Please explain to me how "Prince SDEs cannot make money", yet this UK label can somehow afford to pay another label to license their recordings and then invest money into remastering released and unreleased music and compile a booklet (which means paying for photos and texts and paying a designer) for a goddamn one-hit wonder. And considering this is their business, I presume they must earn enough money to keep doing it.

.

See also: this 7CD deluxe box set of Mel & Kim singles: https://www.cherryred.co....e-box-set/ . And so many other releases they've done.

.

The 7th anniversary of Prince's death is in less than a month, and outside of two great SDEs (which are both lacking), one okay-ish deluxe (Purple Rain, which better be getting an incredible SDE next year), and a Frankensteined-album (Originals), hasn't produced much else of worth. That is ridiculous.

.

I understand you blaming the Estate - just the way i constantly do -

but actually it's all Prince's goddamn fault in the first place.

Fucking purple prick Prince. Look what he left us with ...

a genius oeuvre, tons of (unreleased) music, which was not destroyed after his death (if he wanted that),

meaning it was planned to have it used or released in one way or another,

No goddamn will, and then that money sucking family with zero talent...

He must've know this wasn't going to end well, having such an addiciton of opiods...

What kind of guy was he really, honestly, Prince fell as a person seriously deep to my likes.

Indeed, i agre, these unreleased tracks like Fun Love, And How, etc, seem better than the majority o his releases... fuck that.

Exactly. We're very, very far from a "flooding the market" situation.

.

A quick back-of-the-envelope calculation for Miles Davis: 20 "major" box sets released between 1995 and 2022 (i.e. 28 years) by Sony/Columbia and others, for a total of 112 CDs. Most of it is previously unreleased material. The rest is remastered material. That's 4 CDs per year. On top of other "non-box sets" releases. Prince should get at the very least that, in my opinion, i.e. 4 CDs worth of new music each year. 6 CDs wouldn't be too much. 12 CDs would be ideal. For a dollar, of course. lol

We need to track him down. Where and when was this auction.

There are names mentioned. Find them and they could lead us to the auction guy.
